Do-it-yourself pool at the dacha. Photos step by step

Rest and recreation are now only a dream for many people, because not everyone can afford a train to the sea. The reason for this is simple - there is little money. This is not happy, but the situation can be corrected if you are the happy owner of a house. If the sea is unattainable, then you can make an indoor pool at your dacha, which will also please you and your family.

You just need to make a little effort, and your summer cottage will become a wonderful home resort. Just a few years ago it was almost impossible to create an artificial pond on the site.

Today, everyone can afford this luxury item. Yes, yes, and all because swimming bowls in their variety of types and prices have expanded so much that choosing a pool that suits your means will not be difficult.

Build a swimming pool on the site– a great way to relax in the summer heat. If it is of decent size, then you can not only splash, but do swims in the mornings and evenings. And how much joy the children will get! Excellent well-being is guaranteed to you.

And the dachas of the 21st century are no longer so similar to those they used to be. Now I’m going out of town not to starve myself of planting cucumbers and tomatoes, as well as many other household chores. works. Exhausted by the pace of city life, residents of large cities turn their plots of land into recreational areas designed “to suit themselves,” and in this case a swimming pool will be an excellent addition.

Artificial pond in the country- this is not only a new comfort zone, but also a place for a special microclimate and even a reservoir with water for emergencies when there is nothing to water the flower beds with. In general, the benefits of a pool are obvious if you install the container correctly and operate it strictly according to the instructions.

Which pool should you choose?

On the modern market you will find three popular categories of pools:

  1. Collapsible.
  2. Stationary.
  3. Inflatable.

They all differ in shape, design and size. These are the main parameters that will influence your choice. You will choose what to choose based on the size of the plot, conditions and preferences. But it should be said that each of the options is good in its own way.

Stationary

The name speaks for itself. Such containers are installed turnkey. Such pools are either medium or large. According to the type of installation they are divided into:

  1. Frameless

Frameless structures built into the ground

To operate such a model, it will have to be equipped with some systems, at a minimum, this is a water supply, drainage and cleaning system. If you don’t take care of this in advance, within a couple of weeks you will be swimming not in clean water, but in dirty slurry. You can refuse the purification system, but think for yourself - where will you drain 14 tons of water, and how much will it cost you to fill the pool every 2 weeks with clean water? These costs will be more expensive than it would cost you to purchase and install the purifier once.

It looks great, and if you are mentally prepared to endure all the difficulties with installation and arrangement, then you should not refuse this option. If not, give preference to a frame container, since installation problems (and costs) will be much less.

But many summer residents are seriously concerned that they will have to spend a lot of time on cleaning, so they decided to make an indoor pool in their country house with their own hands. This is the right decision, since the pool will only need to be cleaned once every six months.

When choosing the type of container for your dacha, do not forget about the climatic features of the region. Most containers, even without water, simply will not withstand local frosts, so you will have to invest in frost-resistant models.

Collapsible

Such pools are classified as small and medium in size. The thing is that it is almost impossible to assemble it yourself, and the procedure is quite expensive. But the advantage of the model is that it is ideal for unguarded areas. It can be assembled, filled with water upon arrival, and dismantled in the fall and sent to the barn.

This type of pool also needs filtration, but there is no need to install complex systems. For small volumes, you can limit yourself to disinfection with reagents that are harmless and of high quality.

Inflatable

Naturally, such pools cannot be large, which is great. Due to its size, the pool is suitable for those owners whose plots are not so large, and the advantage is that storing such models is not problematic - you can even fold them into a sofa. You can also take the pool with you on a picnic. For large models, a metal frame is provided - it is assembled from hollow tubes (made of aluminum).

What are indoor pools for cottages made of?

When choosing a pool, you should remember that they can be made of any materials. This is especially true for stationary models. Manufacturers have fallen in love with materials such as plastic and other composite materials.

Products made from polypropylene have good characteristics and can withstand temperature changes well. They can be used all year round.

Plastic containers are more fragile and may burst when the temperature drops. It is not used to create large tanks, but is not uncommon for medium-sized tanks. It is also used for folding structures and decorative colored pools.

More practical models are made from composite. The material can transform, but the body does not break through. The walls cannot be scratched or broken. Such a pool will be durable, which is why it is used to create an indoor pool.

But all types have one drawback- they have a standard appearance, so if you want a fancy pool, you'll need to build it yourself. Yes, it’s expensive, but it’s the way your heart desires.

Separation by filling type

According to the filling methods, pools can be:

  • Overflow.
  • Skimmer.

In the first models, a grate is made in the tank, through which overflowing water enters the storage tank. This system visually increases the size of the container and allows you to always maintain a certain water level.

In skimmer models everything is somewhat different. They cannot be filled to the brim of at least 15 cm, since there are no storage tanks. The water that enters the tank is purified through a skimmer. This is an inexpensive option, which is why it is very popular in the private sector.

Finishing materials

An indoor swimming pool at your dacha can be decorated with the following materials:

  • Polypropylene.
  • Mosaic.
  • Tile.
  • PVC film.

The film is sold in rolls and can be of any color. The most popular are blue, white, light blue shades. The role of such finishing has a dual meaning: waterproofing and aesthetics.

Polypropylene is a polymer that has high strength, is easy to weld and is resistant to aggressive climate conditions. Usually they buy blue polypropylene.

But mosaics and tiles are chosen with a low level of water absorption. Ceramics are used to decorate a public pool, and mosaics will fit perfectly into a summer cottage. A pool with this finish will appear visually deeper.

Location

It’s not enough to choose a pool, you need to think about how you will care for it, so we suggest planning everything in advance.

Important: If you have clay soil on your site, then this is an ideal option for installation.

When planning container placement, consider the following points:

  1. If your soil is clay, you don’t even have to choose a location for installation. If the waterproofing fails, it will stop water leakage.
  2. The area where you plan to place the pool should have a natural slope. In this case, it will be easier for you to dig a pit and choose a place to install the drainage system.
  3. You should not place an indoor pool in your dacha where there is shade from tall trees. Plants sense moisture and can easily damage the waterproofing. The most aggressive trees are willow, chestnut and poplar.
  4. If the pool is located near a water supply, this will make it easier to fill the container with water.

Dimensions

The ratio of length and width is correlated with the general purpose. If you want to do swims, give preference to a rectangular shape. For a simple “splash”, it is better to make a round shape. Depth will also be important. If you are a fan of jumping from the side, then the bottom should be at least 1.5 m deep. To place a tower or springboard you will need a greater depth - at least 2.5 m. But you can make the bowl deeper in the place for jumping, and then bring it to standard depth.

The biggest difficulty in creating an indoor pool with your own hands will be the combined type, which is suitable for both children and parents. The zones will have to be separated by partitions that will go from the very bottom. This way, children will be protected from falling into deep water.

Attention! In this type of pool, you should make a flat bottom that will smoothly descend. Sharp jumps are unacceptable for safety reasons, because walking along the bottom you can inadvertently miss the line and choke. Don't ignore this advice.

Design of an indoor pool at the dacha

When you come to decorating, do not forget that you have a pool, not a pond, and you should decorate it accordingly. This is done using bridge tiles or wooden flooring. The pool bowl can be hidden behind a stepped deck. If you are planning a large stationary pool, entrust this matter to professionals.

A distinctive feature of a pond will be the presence of a cleaning system, drainage, for example, heating/counterflow. To do this, you will need a utility room, which can be made in the form beautiful house. The design of the pool room or roof does not require any frills.

Plants as decoration

If the indoor pool at your dacha will be located outside, decide what you want to see around it. When drawing up a plan and choosing an idea for plants, do not break the main rule:

“There is no need to plant plants near the pool or on its shore. The water with the chlorine it contains will kill them, and you can forget about comfortable swimming among beautiful plants.”

To do everything in at its best, the plants will need to be planted in tubs or containers. In this case, there will be no interaction with the treated water. Regarding the plants themselves, choose those that can withstand all weather conditions. These include juniper, Chinese rose, oleander, agapanthus, yucca glorious, southern cordyline.

Add-ons

Making an indoor pool at your dacha with your own hands is not that difficult, but decorating it and making it a full-fledged recreation area is not easy. Pool lighting will help you with this. This way, you can enjoy swimming in the evenings. A fireplace or fire pit will also look impressive. Such elements will relax and add coziness.

And dive into cold water. To make this a reality, you can make a small pool with your own hands. Certain types of structures can be easily assembled independently in the yard of a country house or home. This article will help the owner make his family happy; you just need to make the most of the materials that are already available.

Types of pools

In order to have plenty to choose from, you need to know about the features of various solutions and their relevance for specific conditions.

Inflatable pools. These products can be installed in less than an hour. The pool is usually a container made of PVC film. To ensure that there are no breakthroughs and that the pool lasts long enough, it is reinforced with additional polyester fibers. Only one part is inflatable - the top edge. The whole circuit operates on the float principle. Water begins to fill inside, the side floats up. As the level rises, the walls are leveled and a full-fledged bowl is formed. The kit usually includes a pump, filter, ladder and assembly instructions. Among the positive qualities we can highlight:

  • high assembly speed;
  • relatively light weight;
  • affordable price;
  • the ability to deploy in any conditions (the only requirement is sufficient rigidity of the base and its evenness).

An inflatable pool usually meets all the expected requirements. But it is worth knowing about certain disadvantages: a high probability of water contamination, the relative fragility of the material (a fallen heavy branch or sharp object can damage so much that a complete replacement will have to be made). The price of such products cannot be called low; for some samples you will need to pay 30 thousand rubles or more.

Frame. Among pools of this type, there are a large number of different solutions. The support can be metal tubes, which are assembled into a closed structure, and a PVC bag is placed inside. When it fills with water, the walls rest against the racks and their expansion is limited. Panel frames are assembled from separate sheets of metal, which have an anti-corrosion coating, which prevents its damage. The internal space is organized in the same way as in the previous version.

Installing a frame pool usually takes a full day. At the same time, it also needs a good foundation so as not to deform it with the weight of the flooded water. Seasonal containers will have to be dismantled in the fall and installed again closer to summer. There are those who can easily spend the winter. Usually they have additional stiffening ribs mounted, and the main racks are large. This is necessary to resist the action that will occur when water freezes. Such pleasure will cost more than inflatable analogues.

Made from fiberglass. In most cases, this design is a ready-made cast container. It has specified parameters: depth and capacity. There is no need to invent anything. You only need to dig the appropriate pit, install the container and provide the required communications. One of the advantages is the high strength of the product. In some respects, it even surpasses concrete. Due to the properties of the components, the bowl is not subject to linear expansion due to temperature fluctuations. This means that the service life can be very long with proper maintenance. Fiberglass is highly repairable. The walls are so smooth that debris simply cannot linger on them, which means they are very easy and simple to clean. A large amount of additional equipment is available, for example, you can purchase a variety of slides or diving boards. This will delight not only children, but also adults. The low level of thermal conductivity prevents rapid cooling of the heated liquid.

With polypropylene bowl. By itself, this polymer material has sufficient strength. It does not need an additional layer of waterproofing, which will impede the outflow of liquid. Most often, blanks in sheets are used to make such options. They are blue or cyan in color. You can do the assembly yourself, but this will require certain tools. Most often this is entrusted to professionals. The construction of the entire structure can take from several days to weeks. Such pools have a recessed design, so large-scale excavation will be required, as well as the laying of a concrete base slab. The material is UV and chemical resistant active substances. Thanks to this, it can be safely placed outdoors.

With concrete base. To put it simply, this is a pit of arbitrary length, width and depth chosen by the user. It is filled with mortar. The walls and bottom can be lined with a special ceramic tiles or mosaic. Almost anyone can implement such a project in any suitable location. For such a pool, it is important to think through all the required communications so that it lasts as long as possible.

Dome. This could be any of the options listed. The special thing is that they all have a roof. It can be made from various materials. The main highlight is that the bowl is closed on all sides, which prevents wind from blowing through and also contributes to the rapid heating of the water inside.

In addition to differences in the method of construction, subtypes are also distinguished according to the filtration option. It can be:

  • Skimmer. In this case, water is drawn from the pool through technological holes located on the side walls. Moving through the channels, it enters the filter device. There it is cleaned, disinfected and partially heated. Return to the container is carried out through nozzles.
  • Overflow. This method is more effective, but is also somewhat more expensive in construction. The water mirror reaches the very top of the pool. Water flows through the drain hole or the top side and enters a special gutter, and from it into the tank. The latter contains a pump with a water sensor, which pumps the liquid into the filter, where it is cleaned. The liquid flows back through the holes located at the bottom of the pool.

Selecting a location

In addition to choosing a pool and even before creating its drawing, it is important to think about where to place it in your plot of land. To make this easier to decide, here are a few rules to consider:

Assembly of the frame version

This option can be very cheap to manufacture. In order to implement it, you will need timber 100×100 mm, edged board 100×30 mm or 50×30 mm. You will also need a material that has good waterproofing and can withstand high tensile pressure.

  • The site is selected as described above.
  • A pit is dug 40 cm deep. Its dimensions should be 20 cm larger than the dimensions of the planned pool.
  • The bottom is well compacted.
  • A slight slope is created towards the middle, where a small hole is dug with dimensions of 50x50 cm and a depth of 20 cm. It will serve to collect water, which may overflow over the edges.
  • The entire space is filled with medium or fine crushed stone. The layer should be 20 cm.
  • Sand is added another 20 cm. It is very important to compact it well so that the pillow is sufficiently rigid.
  • The plane is displayed using beacons. This will prevent the pool bowl from becoming distorted. Can act as guides metal pipes or a wooden beam, which is laid using a building level.
  • From wooden beam, which was mentioned just above, racks are made. Their number should be such as to install every meter. The total length is equal to the height of the pool plus 50 cm, which must be immersed in the ground.
  • The part that will be in the ground is treated with bitumen mastic or wrapped in roofing material. In addition, it is necessary to coat the wood with an antiseptic composition to prevent rot from constant exposure to moisture.
  • At the installation site of each column, a hole is dug to a depth of 50 cm.
  • Corner posts are installed. They are leveled using a building level in the horizontal and vertical plane.
  • The space around them is filled with sand and soil, which are compacted well to securely fix the element.
  • The diagonals are checked to ensure that the design is symmetrical.
  • Fishing lines are stretched between the posts. One should be at the bottom, the second at the top. They are necessary in order to facilitate the installation of other reference points.
  • The remaining parts are mounted with the indicated step.
  • The supporting walls are filled using edged boards. It is better to place the elements closely to create a uniform plane.
  • After making the frame, a material is placed inside that will serve as a receiver for water. This can be thick polyethylene film. It is important that it be in one piece, because... A leak will certainly appear at the seam site, and water will seep into the ground. The edges must be folded over the top edge so that the material does not slip during use.
  • If you wish, you can make a more durable version. To do this, you will need a PVC base, which is used for sewing awnings on trailers, eyelets, a rivet gun, a hair dryer and a rubber roller. The blanks are placed inside the frame and markings are made of what bends will need to be made in the corners, how much should be left for the fold, and where exactly the seam will be soldered. The individual sheets are connected to each other using hot air. They are laid with a slight overlap. Using a hairdryer, heat until almost completely softened. Rolling a roller forms a joint. This should be done on a flat surface free of debris and dust. The upper edge is bent by 5 cm. The eyelets are installed using a riveter. The distance between them should be 15 cm. The awning can be fixed to the inside. To do this, it is simply pressed against the wooden base. Either the edge is bent over the top level, then a rope is pulled through the eyelets and it clings to the prepared elements.
  • The finished pool is filled with water.

To make the structure easier to fit into the surrounding exterior, it can be partially or completely immersed in the pit. In this case, the bottom is organized in the same way as described. The drainage system can be improved. To do this, a sewer pipe is connected to the hole, which is located in the middle, the second end of which goes into a drainage basin or channel. This way, the water will drain much faster.

Making a concrete pool

The main task for this option will be excavation work. Having decided on the location and marking the territory, a hole of the required depth is dug. The bottom is formed in accordance with the recommendations listed above.

Installation of a polypropylene pool

If you have certain skills, installing such a pool will not take too much time. We will need sheet polypropylene (wall thickness from 8 mm), material for joining, a technical hair dryer, and a plane.

To install such a structure, a pit is prepared; its dimensions should be 10 cm larger than the product itself on each side. The bottom must be filled with solution and allowed to stand. The vessel is immersed in the middle. Gravel is poured into the space between the walls of the vessel and the pit and compacted well.

The technology for making a polypropylene pool is shown below:

Filter system

A pool filter is an integral device that must be present. Without it, it will be impossible to use water for a long period of time. It will need to be replaced frequently. The device can be installed either near the pool itself or in a specially prepared place. There is a large number ready-made options. For a small pool there is no need to take a filter that is too powerful. If desired, you can assemble it yourself. For this you will need a 100 liter plastic barrel. The main condition will be the presence of a lid that can close hermetically. A centrifugal or drainage pump will be required, plastic pipes, fittings and filter flask cartridge.

  • A hole is drilled below the neck of the container.
  • A threaded nipple is inserted into the hole. Sealing rubber bands are put on both sides and locknuts are screwed on.
  • The same exit is made 5 cm above the bottom diagonally.
  • A pipe is connected to the upper adapter, which will draw water from the pool.
  • A filter cartridge is placed on the bottom from the inside. A pump is connected to the external one. The pump leads to the pool.
  • Coarse sifted sand is poured halfway into the barrel.
  • The installation must be below the water level in the pool. The liquid will flow by gravity into the container. Passing through the sand, it is cleaned and fed back into the bowl using a pump.

With the right approach to the matter, the pool will last for many years. A concrete or polypropylene structure can easily be made in a bathhouse or basement of a house. But this should be planned at the construction stage in order to avoid unpleasant consequences from uneven load.

During the hot season, it is always nice to spend time in cool water. But it may not always be possible to go to a river or other body of water. In this case, the best option would be to build a pool at your dacha or on your property. country house. You will always have your own pond at hand where you can relax. In this article we will talk about how you can inexpensively make a pool in your country house.

Types of designs

Before answering the question of how to build a swimming pool at your dacha with your own hands, you must decide on the type of structure itself. The choice of material and work technology will depend on this. As an option we can offer the following types of pools:

  • Frame. Such designs can be purchased ready-made. The frame pool is metal structure with stretched fabric (usually PVC film). The kit may include a ladder, cleaning system, pumping station etc. This design is installed for the season. The pool is already equipped with waterproofing; you just need to assemble the structure and pump water into it;
  • Plastic products. This option is a bowl made of polymer materials. The container can be purchased ready-made or ordered from a specialized company. Similar models, like the previous version, are installed for the season. Leave plastic container It’s better not for the winter;
  • Stationary. This type can be considered a real pool. Of course, its creation will require a lot of physical and financial effort from you, but as a result, a large body of water will appear in your dacha or garden plot where you can swim.

One of the options can be considered inflatable structures. But such pools are not so comfortable due to their small size. And the quality of inflatable structures is often poor. Having pumped up the pool in the evening, in the morning you may find in its place a piece of rubberized material lying helplessly on the ground.

Choosing the optimal size and location

Since it is the stationary pool that can be considered “real,” then further discussion will focus on this option. If you have decided on the type, then you should think about the installation location and the size of the artificial reservoir itself.

The choice of location largely depends on the wishes of the owner. Many people install a pool behind the house, near the recreation area. But when choosing a place it is important consider some factors. Namely:

  • Priming. Much will depend on its properties. Firstly, it is better that the soil is clay. In this case, you will receive additional natural waterproofing. Secondly, when creating permanent pool you will have to dig a pit. If the selected area has rocky soil, then the work can be quite complex and time-consuming, especially if you do it yourself;
  • Predominant wind direction. Since the pool will be located in an open area, there is a high probability of various debris getting into it. So that when swimming you do not encounter debris from scraps of paper or dry leaves, it is better that the artificial pond is protected from the prevailing wind direction;
  • Presence of nearby vegetation. It is better that there are no bushes and especially trees near the reservoir. Plants are always drawn to moisture, and their roots are quite strong and can easily break through the concrete thicket of the pool.

If we are talking about the size of an artificial reservoir, then there are no special requirements. Everything will depend on the availability of free land and your preferences. For example, for swimming along one lane it is quite suitable width two and a half meters and a length of 5 meters. If there are two tracks, then the width increases to 4 meters.

The optimal depth of the pool can be considered 1.4 meters. But even here everything will depend on the purposes for which you are building a reservoir. If you have children and the main purpose of the pool will be to entertain them, then you should not make it too deep. Conversely, if you are a diving enthusiast, then depth will play a very important role.

Stages of pool construction

In general terms, the process of constructing a permanent pool can be broken down into the following stages:

  1. Selecting the type of reservoir and drawing up its design. At the same time, a suitable site for construction is selected.
  2. Marking on the ground. Excavation.
  3. Arranging formwork and pouring the pool bowl.
  4. Applying a waterproofing layer to the surface and finishing the bowl.
  5. Equipping the pool with equipment and lighting.

As you can see, there is a lot of work. Moreover, each stage is important, because not only the appearance of the structure and the duration of its operation will depend on it.

Excavation and bowl creation

Now let's move on to considering the question itself - how to make a pool with your own hands. When you have decided on the size and installation location, then Let's start excavation work. First of all, we apply markings to the area. To do this, you can use pegs and a stretched rope.

Next, we move on to excavation work. This is one of the most labor-intensive stages of construction. You have to dig a pit required sizes and depth. It is worth considering that the width, length and depth must be made approximately half a meter larger. This additional space is necessary for the installation of formwork. If the size of the pool you are planning is quite impressive, then you should think about using special equipment.

After the pit is ready, you can start creating the bowl future pool. This stage of work includes the following activities:

  1. The bottom and walls of the pit are carefully compacted.
  2. A pillow is made from sand. To do this, a layer of material 20-30 cm thick is poured onto the bottom and compacted thoroughly.
  3. A waterproofing layer is applied over the cushion at the bottom and over the entire surface of the walls. Today on the market you can find many materials that become an excellent barrier to water. The use of roofing felt and bitumen mass can be considered the most budget-friendly. Such materials have been used for a long time and have proven themselves well. A layer of roofing material is laid over the entire surface (on the bottom and walls, the latter should be covered with material to the very top with a margin). Then several (preferably 3-4) layers of bitumen mass are applied.
  4. The next step will be the installation of the drainage system. This must be done before installing the formwork. How many drain holes to make and where to place them will depend on the size and shape of the pool bowl.
  5. Next, we install the formwork, which can be made from scrap materials. After installing the formwork, we begin pouring concrete. In this case, it is necessary to use reinforcement. In order for the bowl to serve for a long time, it is necessary to use concrete of the appropriate grade and with additives.

After the concrete mass hardens the formwork is removed. Next, you need to treat the entire surface of the resulting bowl with a solution of concrete and water or iron it. At this point, the main stages of creating a pool can be considered complete. Next comes the finishing and equipping of the structure.

Finishing and lighting

Now you need to finish the pool bowl. But before this, an additional layer of waterproofing is applied. It is very important to seal every crack to prevent water from damaging the bowl. For these purposes you can use impregnating materials, film or mastic.

After waterproofing, you can begin finishing work. Ceramic tiles are most often used to cover the pool bowl. This material can easily withstand prolonged exposure to water, is easy to clean and has an attractive appearance.

In addition to ceramic tiles, you can also use modern materials, for example, PVC film. Modern manufacturers produce a wide range of similar materials. It is strong and durable. And if we talk about colors and designs, then there is always plenty to choose from.

On ourselves finishing works you can finish it, but it’s better to equip the pool additional equipment. This kit usually includes:

Don’t forget to arrange the area around the new artificial reservoir. As a rule, it is also covered with ceramic tiles. But here it is important to choose an option with an anti-slip coating. This way you will reduce the risk of injury.

As a conclusion

Swimming pool at the cottage or at personal plot- This is a great place to relax on hot summer days. And making it with your own hands is not so difficult. You can build an artificial pond from scrap materials, but it is better and more reliable to make it from concrete. Make calculations, make markings, dig a pit, fill the bowl and finish. Here are the main stages of work. With a little effort and financial investment, you will have a wonderful vacation spot for the whole family.

A swimming pool on a country plot or dacha has ceased to be a curiosity. They install it step by step and thoroughly on their own or invite craftsmen. If you want to make a personal pond with my own hands, arm yourself with instructions and detailed photos.

In general, all types of pools that can be installed on summer cottage, are conditionally divided into:

  • frame;
  • foundation pits

The first ones are good because they are removed for the winter, and can also change their location every season. They are located completely or partially on the surface of the earth. Such frames are expensive, although some owners manage to make them with their own hands. Pit pools require a lot of work as they require digging a hole.

Some examples of ponds for summer cottages:

  • inflatable pool - similar to a frame one, easy to install and inexpensive, but has a short service life;
  • fiberglass - looks like a monolithic bowl, the installation of which requires digging a pit. Transportation causes certain inconvenience due to the dimensions of the structure;

Plastic pool
  • plastic – durable and lightweight. Its structure resembles fiberglass, which is why it has difficulties in delivery and installation;
  • concrete is a suitable option for those who are planning to install a high-quality pool on a suburban area. You can make it from individual blocks or in the form monolithic design. Difficult to install, but definitely reliable and durable.

Attention! If installed incorrectly, a concrete pit pond may leak water or fill poorly. To prevent this from happening, you need to lay all the pipes correctly and take care of high-quality waterproofing.

Main stages of construction: digging a pit, insulation, pool filter

Instructions for installing a concrete pool:

  • Choosing a location. It is good if it is in an open, sunny area, away from trees: their roots can destroy the bowl, and the foliage will become a constant source of debris.
  • Determination of sizes. The optimal depth for a pond in which adults will swim is from 1.5 m. In this case, the waterproofing layer must be taken into account. The length and width can vary and be, for example, 4x4 m or 4x5 m.

Pool pit
  • Calculation of the thickness of the walls and bottom, which depends on the depth of the reservoir, the level of groundwater and soil quality.
  • Design of a drainage system, location of communications, steps and lighting.
  • Marking boundaries. To do this, just drive in pegs at the site of the future reservoir.
  • Excavation work. You can dig a pit manually if the pool is small, but it is better to use special equipment. The hole should be wider and deeper than the project suggests. For example, the walls need to be increased by 04.-0.5 m.

Advice. To prevent the soil from crumbling, dig a pit taking into account the slope of the walls towards the center. Provide a place for drainage, as well as the possibility of draining water, for which the bottom should have a slope towards the drainage system.

  • Bottom leveling and waterproofing. You need to pour a mixture of sand and gravel in a layer of 0.3 m and compact it tightly. Then put roofing felt in 2-3 layers, overlapping the walls by 15-20 cm. Bitumen or liquid rubber are also suitable.
  • Installation of formwork along the edges of the pool. For it, you can take boards or plywood, which will allow you to make a pool of any shape. Before starting work, you need to carefully take care of the drainage system.
  • Reinforcement of the walls of the future reservoir with rods with a diameter of 0.8-1.4 mm.

Interior decoration pool bowls
  • Pouring concrete into the space between the formwork and the ground.
  • Removing formwork after hardening concrete mixture and ironing of the walls - treating them with cement and grouting with water. This will add strength to the structure.
  • Reinforcement and filling of the pool bottom. Installation of metal stairs.
  • Decorating the surface of the bowl with PVC film, mosaic or tiles.

Advice. You can first reinforce and fill the bottom with concrete, and then the walls. If you plan to descend into the pool along concrete steps, then the formwork for them needs to be prepared separately, after the bowl is ready.

To build a pool from individual concrete blocks you need:

  1. Dig a pit, level its bottom and fill it with concrete.
  2. Lay walls of blocks, reinforcing every 3rd row.
  3. Build a staircase into one of the walls.
  4. Waterproof and decorate the pool bowl.

A polypropylene pond can be equipped in two ways:

  • buy a ready-made bowl and install it;
  • purchase a sheet of polypropylene and make a container of the desired shape and size from it.

Construction of a concrete pool

In any case, the installation of such a pool consists of the following steps:

  1. Digging a hole whose dimensions exceed the size of the bowl.
  2. Waterproofing the bottom and filling it with concrete.
  3. Installation of the bowl.
  4. Installation of drain and nozzles for water supply.
  5. Insulation of pool edges and pipes.
  6. Connecting communications and pouring concrete.

Attention! To make the walls even, you need to make formwork inside the bowl and pour concrete in stages, to a height of 0.3-0.35 cm per day.

Any pool must be equipped with a filter, otherwise the water will soon become dirty and unsuitable for swimming. You need to pass it through a cleaning device using a pump 2-3 times a day, even if no one has swum in the pond. Today there are 3 main types of filter units:

  • sand ones are quite voluminous and are used mainly in public swimming pools. They look like a container filled with sand, where gravel, silver sand, etc. can be added;

Choose the right pool filter
  • cartridge - purify water using propylene membranes. They are small in size and can be installed outside the reservoir itself. Clogged cartridges need to be changed frequently;
  • Diatomaceous earth filters are the most expensive filters, consisting of several cartridges. Water is purified from most microbes using diatomite soil with silicon dioxide.

Advice. The main criterion for choosing a filter is performance (volume of water passed through). It is indicated by the manufacturer.

Pool skimmer: purpose, types

Like a filter, a skimmer purifies water from bacteria, but only processes the top layer of the surface. It also dampens waves when several people are swimming. The skimmer looks like a metal or plastic tank with a water intake pipe. It is equipped with a filter for deep cleaning of debris, insects, and leaves.

The skimmer can be:

  • hinged - often used for frame or inflatable pools;
  • built-in - used during the installation of a pit reservoir.

Pool skimmer

Typically, manufacturers include a drawing with the device, according to which the skimmer can be assembled. It must be installed at the stage of pouring the walls with concrete. It is necessary to provide boxes for openings. A plywood shield is prepared under the skimmer, which is then installed into the pool bowl together with the attached device.

Advice. One skimmer cleans 25 sq. m of water. If the volume of the pool is larger, you will need several devices.

As you can see, setting up a pool is quite a troublesome task. However, after studying the instructions and selecting necessary materials, you will be able to cope with this task.

Preparatory activities

Decide on the desired shape and required dimensions of the artificial reservoir to be equipped.

When determining optimal sizes pool, consider how many people will swim in the pond. For a large family, it is better to immediately equip a spacious container.

In accordance with practical experience, the optimal depth of the reservoir is 1.5-1.8 m; in width and length, 4 m is most often sufficient.

For the rest, be guided by your needs and requirements. For example, if you plan to use the pool for full-fledged training, consider this point when determining the required length and width of the reservoir.

Select comfortable spot for the construction of a swimming pool.

The main thing is that the space is not covered by trees. Because of the trees, the water in the pool will not be able to warm up properly and, in addition to this, will be constantly polluted by fallen leaves.

Also, low-lying areas are not suitable for arranging swimming pools, because... with such an arrangement, the water will be constantly polluted by rain flows.

Marking and digging a pit

Armed with a tape measure, stakes and cord, start marking the construction site.

The dimensions of the construction site should be 0.5 m larger than the dimensions of the future pool on each side. To mark boundaries, drive pegs into the ground and stretch a cord between them.

Completely remove the top fertile ball of soil.

Dig a pit of the required dimensions, and the bottom of the hole should be approximately 25-30 cm below the desired depth of the pool.

Carefully level the walls of the pit. The bottom of the pit must be given a slight slope.

Construction of a monolithic pool

Proceed directly to the construction of a monolithic pool.

Place a 20-30 cm layer of sand on the bottom of the pit. Carefully compact the laid material and cover it with waterproofing.

The modern market offers a fairly large range of effective ones. To ensure high-quality moisture protection, roofing material is well suited. This is a practical, reliable and inexpensive material.

Lay roofing felt. You can use molten bitumen to attach the material.

Lay the waterproofed surface with stones. Lay a ready-made reinforcing mesh on top of the layer of stones, or make it yourself from metal rods.

Create a drainage hole. Its depth should be slightly greater than the depth of the main reservoir. Install a pipe into the hole to drain water. The end of this pipe must be inserted into the reservoir. Equip the pipe with a shut-off valve to drain the water.

Fill the drainage hole with a fairly thick layer of gravel. Install an overflow and skimmer system to purify the pool water.

Place reinforcing bars around the perimeter of the pit in 30 cm increments. Maintain a 50 mm gap between the reinforcement and the edges of the reservoir. Fasten the reinforcement bars with wire.

Fold from boards. Maintain a 15-centimeter gap between the formwork and the walls of the pit.

At the same stage, consider installing pipes and equipment for pumping and supplying water. Or you can use external systems of pumps and hoses - whichever is more convenient for you.

Start concreting the pool. You can order or make it yourself.

Pour the concrete gradually and slowly, in a horizontal layer.

Also fill the voids between the formwork panels and the pit walls. Give the mixture a month to gain strength and begin arranging the pool.

Do the interior design at your own discretion. You can tile the bowl. Or you can line the bottom with a 10-centimeter layer of clean sand, and then the pool will look like a body of natural origin.

Other private pool options

Frame systems

Such structures are constructed from wood with finishing cladding of tin or aluminum. Aluminum sheets have an attractive appearance and are superior to tin in terms of reliability and service life.

The frame straps are made from pine timber. Intermediate parts can be made from any thick, high-quality boards. To provide additional rigidity to the structure, braces made of strong boards are used.

Among the main advantages of frame pools, it should be noted that there is no need to carry out large volumes of excavation work and the possibility of dismantling the structure during the cold season.

Changing the water in such a pool is carried out using a flexible garden hose, which can be conveniently fixed at the bottom of the tank. Waste water from the pool can be used to water the garden.

All joints of the frame structure are subject to mandatory sealing. To give the structure the required tightness, even ordinary polyethylene film is well suited.

Wooden elements must be treated with an antiseptic.

The installation of frame pools usually costs less money compared to the cost of erecting a monolithic structure, while such reservoirs have a fairly solid appearance and fit well into the design of the site.

To arrange a pool, if desired, you can even use ordinary polyvinyl chloride film. This material has a rather attractive appearance and acceptable performance characteristics.

The film tolerates contact with water normally, ensures proper tightness of the structure and allows you to save on waterproofing the reservoir.

Even if cracks appear in the container, a properly installed polyvinyl chloride film will retain water.

PVC film can be used both when arranging a new reservoir and when repairing an old pool. Moreover, to build such a structure, there is no need to carry out extensive excavation work: the elements of the film are simply fastened together using the temperature welding method, resulting in a very durable bowl.

The pool is installed on a pre-prepared base and fixed with a frame made of boards.

Today, swimming pools with a base made of fiberglass are very popular. This durable material can withstand even the most severe mechanical loads and does not require any additional coating.

Among the disadvantages of the design under consideration, one can only highlight the need for mandatory connection of all communications.

The bowl is installed on a solid concrete base.

Thus, there are many pool options available for the owner to choose from. Having studied the features of each type of artificial reservoir considered, you can come to the optimal solution and build the pool of your dreams without outside help.
