Brazier with a cauldron made of brick scheme. All about brick barbecues with a stove for a cauldron

To build a barbecue with a cauldron, you must first prepare a plan for the future design. The scheme should include ordering and footage, you also need to designate the amount of material in advance and choose a place for construction.

There are some nuances that you need to consider in order to build a do-it-yourself brick oven for a cauldron:

  • It is best to place a brick brazier near the house so that it is convenient to conduct light and water.
  • The direction of the wind away from the house is also taken into account, otherwise the smoke and smells of food will go into it.
  • It is better to provide a canopy or roof so that the brazier is protected from rain.
  • When choosing a brick, you should give preference to those types that can best withstand high temperatures.

What can the complex contain:

  • A firebox for laying firewood is often present in two versions at once - open and closed.
  • Outdoor cooking surface.
  • Smoking compartment - not present in all barbecue options with a cauldron, but in well-thought-out designs it is located in the chimney.
  • Barbecue or barbecue grill - sometimes combined with an internal firebox.
  • Place under the hearth for a cauldron.

Complex scheme

Barbecue and cauldron

There are many sources on the network on the topic "Kazan and barbecue". But the very fact that 2-3 of the same orders are given in all of them suggests that a barbecue oven with a cauldron is not at all as simple as it seems.

Indeed, a cauldron for a barbecue is simply adapted for cooking with smoke. In this case, the pot is simply hung over the brazier. But creating an integral complex of "barbecue with a cauldron" is difficult to the point that, probably, it is completely impossible.

Barbecue ovens with a cauldron

The fact is that the nature of thermal deformations (field of thermal stresses) in a brick oven under a cauldron and a simple hearth, which, in essence, is a barbecue, is completely different. In a cauldron, they are predominantly radial, i.e. it seems to be more or less evenly bursting in all directions; antinodes (collections) of stresses - in the corners. And the barbecue oven is bursting more across, and the main antinode of tension falls on the center of the arch of the brazier; small antinodes are squeezed into the corners of the niche.

In attempts to link the loads in terms of structural mechanics, structures are born that are not inferior to the Russian furnace in terms of structural complexity, on the left in Fig. In this hulk, besides, there are immured load-bearing elements made of steel. Under the braziers and the vault of the cooking niche lie entirely on the iron. Such a furnace will not last long because of the different TKR of metal and ceramics, the metal will bend over time from variable thermal deformations and the masonry will shrink.

The only option for a barbecue with a cauldron is any barbecue oven, for example. garden, with a cauldron attached to it on the side, on the right in fig. The foundation may be common, but a strong mechanical connection between the modules is unacceptable. That is, although the seam between the modules for the view can be sealed with mortar, the barbecue and cauldron masonry should be separate. This, by the way, greatly simplifies the choice of project and work. You can also build modules individually and select projects for them individually.

Note: if a gourmet in a green jacket with golden buttons does not come to your pilaf, and a stove is already provided in the barbecue, then the problem is solved simply. You only need to buy a stove for a cauldron with a pot (fig. on the right). A good one will cost about 1500 rubles, the size is standard. We remove the hob with a burner, put a cauldron, and a more or less decent pilaf, shurpa or beshbarmak is only a matter of your skill.

We build a stove with a barbecue with our own hands

A cauldron with a chimney can be built independently using ready-made drawings, provided that all the order is observed. A ready-made cooking complex with a stove is quite expensive, not everyone can afford it. The construction technology is very similar to the laying of a Russian stove, therefore it requires some skill. They are built of brick, covered with a roof or made in a separate utility room. On such a cooking complex, you can not only cook dishes of oriental cuisine, but also national ones. For example, if you remove a cast-iron cauldron and put a pan, you can make jam, boil vegetables, and so on.

Necessary materials and tools

In order to make a barbecue complex with your own hands, you need to stock up on the following materials:

  • brick,
  • sand,
  • cement,
  • clay,
  • expanded clay or brick battle,
  • hob,
  • cast iron pot,
  • blower door,
  • stone no larger than 5-6 cm,
  • ruberoid,
  • gravel,
  • a special mixture for laying a Russian stove,
  • firebox door and grate.

Construction tools needed:

  • Master OK,
  • hammer,
  • bucket,
  • shovel.

Scheme of the barbecue device

Before starting construction, keep in mind that the dachas are close to each other, try to design so that the smoke does not go to the neighbors. Do not put the barbecue next to the trees to avoid a fire.

What is successful building?

An additional room should be added to the project of such construction, in which all other utensils (skewers, knives, firewood, spoons) will be stored. If the project will be located near the gazebo, then it is worth giving a corner place so as not to create the effect of "clutter" of the dacha area. The construction project must fit compactly

When drawing drawings, special attention should be paid to the estimated dimensions of the Russian stove. If you want to create a complex with a smokehouse, you should pay special attention to the location and direction of the wind

Cooking complex with a chimney, includes the following sections:

  • brazier;
  • smokehouse;
  • B-B-Q;
  • cast iron pot.

Scheme of a brazier with a smokehouse

Important construction points:

  1. During construction, if it starts to rain, it is better to cover the already made brickwork with a film - water has a detrimental effect at this stage.
  2. In order to prevent the destruction of the project for the gazebo from high temperatures, it is worth laying out the inside with broken brick or stone. If the project is with a roof, this is not necessary.
  3. The smokehouse needs waterproofing; for this, roofing material or construction film is placed on the stand.
  4. Take a brick of high quality, refractory, preferably Finnish.

Step by step instructions for building

Since the complex with a smokehouse located under the roof on the territory of the dacha requires additional fire safety, only high-quality materials (Finnish cement / brick / other building materials) should be taken.

Stages of construction:

  1. First of all, decide on the place where the furnace will be built. Before pouring the foundation, you need to outline the dimensions and check for errors in the calculations. The barbecue project should last as long as possible on the territory of the cottage.
  2. Since the foundation will act as a stand, after pouring it, you need to carefully level it, remove all roughness and irregularities.
  3. Wait for the foundation to dry completely.
  4. Start ordering with bricks, laying the first without cement. Before you start laying the stove with a steel with your own hands, it is worth soaking the brick in water. Do the laying at the brazier project with a smokehouse gradually, laying bricks row by row.
  5. Next, lay out the base of the barbecue.
  6. After laying the base, cement can no longer be used. It is worth building the walls of the future barbecue with a smokehouse with the help of fireclay mixture. Due to high temperatures, the cement will quickly collapse.
  7. For the base under the cast-iron cauldron, you need to take metal corners. The project can be made with a stalk using reinforcing axles - this will make it easy to clean the cauldron from ash.
  8. You need to build a roof, supports, pallets, gratings with your own hands last. Do a canopy only if the project is under a roof.
  9. Screw the top down last.

Construction time is approximately 2 weeks. Don't rush!

Choosing a place for a stove or a stationary barbecue

At the very beginning, it is worth deciding on the place for laying the first brick for the future furnace. To do this, you need to "take a look" at the entire territory of the cottage, if necessary, take several photographs or shoot a video from different corners and angles. The entire area of the cottage should be "at a glance." It is preferable to give a place for construction near the gazebo or bath. In general, you need to build not far from the picnic area. A stationary stove / barbecue or outdoor smokehouse should be under a canopy or roof. If it is not yet possible to cover all this with a roof, it is worth carefully covering it with construction film in the cold season (autumn / winter). You can equip a metal cauldron barbecue under a roof in a gazebo specially built for this purpose, you can also store firewood / skewers / coal there. Nearby you can organize a mini-kitchen, with tables for cutting meat and vegetables.

The construction of a brazier or stove should begin with an inspection of the territory of the cottage, drawing a drawing of the future structure. Drawings can be ordered from specialists or found on the Internet, if you do not know how to draw on your own.

Or maybe it's better to buy a ready-made grill?

If you rarely go out of town and are not a big gourmet, and you only need an oven for cooking simple dishes + frying barbecue and shish kebab, then it makes no sense to build a whole complex. It is easier and cheaper to buy a ready-made metal brazier with a stand and install a cast-iron cauldron there. The dimensions of this mini-complex will allow you to install the structure almost anywhere and require a minimum of costs.

Now you can see a lot of types of mini-stoves made of metal, with barbecue functions and an installed cast-iron cauldron. Stands for metal furnaces are very diverse - these are massive tripods, twisted and portable legs. On sale are ready-made metal stoves for a cast-iron cauldron, with a built-in chimney that runs on gas or wood. Some projects are cheaper than building with your own hands, despite the fact that they are sold with a stand and a cauldron. The advantage of ready-made models is that they do not need to be designed, they are easily dismantled, and do not require special storage conditions.

How to combine a barbecue and a cauldron?

There are a lot of various articles on the net about how you can combine seemingly incompatible things. But, nevertheless, it is possible. The only thing that unites them is the same order (2-3 cm). A cast-iron cauldron should be equipped in a barbecue only for cooking dishes “with smoke”. In this case, you need to hang the cauldron on a stand above the brazier. In order to mount a cauldron, it is necessary to build heavy temperature-controlled structures like a Russian stove. The size of such a complex can be impressive. In order to avoid the construction of huge structures, you can attach separately, for example, a barbecue grill on the left, and a cauldron on the right. The ground support must be made of stainless steel. If you already have a brick oven for a barbecue and do not want to finish building additional sections, you can purchase a stand for a cast-iron cauldron separately.

How to combine a brazier and a cauldron?

The situation with combining a barbecue with a cauldron is approximately the same as with a barbecue. We attach an additional section of brick under the cauldron on the side, in case the brazier itself is brick. And purchased metal, if the brazier is made of metal. The dishes will taste mediocre for a professional Asian chef, for an ordinary person - just right. Very convenient for home gatherings.

How to combine a cauldron and a tandoor

Tandoor is an integral part of any Asian cuisine. Today, it is not difficult to buy a stationary tandoor; if desired, it can be equipped with bowlers, coasters, and a cauldron. Cauldrons for the tandoor have a trihedral shape with handles on the sides, together they form small gaps through which smoke escapes. Such cauldrons must be placed directly inside the tandoor, in its "core". You can choose a cauldron of any size with or without a stand. You can make a cross-shaped concave stand yourself. Depending on the dish, the height of the cauldron is adjusted. Lower you need to lower dishes that require intensive cooking, at the top - slow languishing. Adjust the height with a metal chain or stand.

Construction of a brick oven under a cauldron

Kazan - a boiler made of cast iron (sometimes aluminum or steel with a non-stick coating), with a semicircular spherical bottom. An open fire should warm up all the walls of such a container wellso that the ingredients of the dish are stewed slowly and evenly. It is placed above the fire by inserting it into a hole in a cast-iron stove mounted in the oven.

We think over the details

This design is most often placed in a gazebo or under a canopy and has a chimney. You can make it stand alone, in the open air. In the pergola stove or next to it there should be a niche for storing firewood. A real cauldron is heated only by firewood!

The cauldron must be immersed in the furnace at least 2/3 of its height.

An opening that is too wide will allow the bottom of the cookware to sink almost to the embers and cause the food to burn. A small opening will not allow the container to drop enough and its walls will not warm up.

The implementation of the hole under the cauldron can be done in two ways:

  1. Form a hole with brickwork. Features - more difficult to implement; requires the allocation of a separate place; allows you to create a hole for a specific cauldron, so that it is completely immersed in the oven; a wide contact strip prevents smoke from escaping through the slots; used for the case when the cauldron is planned to be used frequently.
  2. Install the hob with removable rings of the desired diameter. Features - easy to implement; the stove under the cauldron can also be used as a hob; used if the cauldron is an option that is likely to be used less often.
hole for a cauldron made of bricks Cooking stove with rings

Regardless of which option you choose, you must first buy a cauldron, and then form a place for it in order to clearly observe the size and try to make the junction as tight as possible, without gaps.

In addition, you will need:

  • grateproviding free access of air to the lower layer of fuel;
  • retractable baking sheet under the grate (ash pan);
  • a pair of doors (for blower and firebox);
  • steel corners.

The optimal height is 80 cm above the floor.

Drawing with order

A project with the order of a simple cauldron. This cauldron can be built into a large multifunctional oven, however, the scheme of a common chimney should be thought out together with a specialist.

masonry

Unlike an ordinary Russian oven, which is up to two meters high, a cauldron oven does not have a high vault. The low height of the structure facilitates its weight, which significantly reduces the requirements for the foundation. For a small structure, a simple reinforced concrete pad is also suitable. If you are planning to build a large furnace, read the rules for building a foundation for it.

When the foundation is completely dry:

  1. lay out dry, without mortar, the first and each subsequent row, starting from the corners (you can stretch the cords from the corner bricks and put a row under them);
  2. check with a measuring tool the evenness of the corners and perimeter;
  3. lay out the oven according to the order of the project;
  4. in the process of masonry, fittings are immediately installed: doors, grate, top plate under the cauldron;
  5. if necessary, make the exterior of the furnace.

You will need a ceramic refractory brick of at least the first grade for laying the lower rows. For a firebox, it is better to prefer fireclay stone. Coupling will be provided by a standard sand-clay mortar or a ready-made cement-based masonry mortar.

The finished oven needs to be thoroughly dried. You can ennoble the facade by embroidering the seams, or overlay it with refractory tiles. Sometimes it is immediately laid out of finishing bricks.

A large stove with a separate compartment for a cauldron will have two autonomous fireboxes and a common chimney. In this case, the main thing is the correct organization of draft from the firebox under the cauldron into the main pipe.

Do-it-yourself metal barbecues with a cauldron

The project of a barbecue with a metal cauldron is quite simple in nature. The furnace under the cauldron is made from a cylinder or a pipe. Both options will require the presence of tools for metal and materials.

Before starting the construction, you should choose the method of placing the furnace under the cauldron. It can be placed on the grill and used in field trips. The second option provides for a one-piece structure supported on metal legs.

Drawing up a drawing for a barbecue with a cauldron requires certain conditions to be met:

  • the height of the brazier under the cauldron with your own hands should be 21 cm, width - 25 cm, length - different;
  • a cast-iron brazier for barbecue for 6 skewers is made 70 cm long.

An outdoor stove made of a pipe or a cylinder has an advantage in manufacturing over metal ones: it does not need to be welded. But even in this case, there is a certain sequence of actions. First of all, you need to find a pipe with a diameter of the desired size and a length exceeding it by 2 times.

Make vertical cuts at the end and bend the resulting petals to the sides. This will be the top of the oven. If the stove will be welded to the barbecue, making up a non-separable structure, then it is necessary to cut a hole for firewood in it.

The furnace for a cauldron from a cylinder is made with a minimum set of tools. You will need a grinder, drill, hammer, door hinges and screws. The gas cylinder must be filled to the top with water to prevent an accidental explosion. Cut off the upper part, leaving a length of 65 cm. Stepping back 20 cm from the bottom, make a hole for the firebox.

On the upper edge of the oven, cuts 6 cm deep are required at a distance of 8 cm from each other. They are needed so that the cauldron is stably placed on the balloon. Bend the petals slightly outward or inward with a hammer.

You can make a door from a piece cut out for a stove hole by adapting it to hinges. Under it, make a double row of holes for the passage of air. The stand for the cauldron can be made of sheet iron. It requires additional calculations taking into account the welding seam.

Braziers for giving, made independently, can be updated over time. Able to change: stand for a cauldron, support racks, tandoor. A portable cast-iron grill with a stove can be taken with you.

Those who do not want to build a brazier on their own can always purchase it in a distribution network or order it according to an individual design.

Important works

Building a barbecue, having little knowledge in this type of activity, will not be difficult. Brickwork of any furnaces is made according to the drawings in accordance with the selected contract. There may be several construction schemes.

The first brick row serves as the base of the furnace, its laying is carried out strictly horizontally. At the next two levels, the functional elements of the brazier with a cauldron are laid.

Difficulties in the construction are caused by the tandoor. Its lower diameter is larger than its upper one. For even masonry, it is more convenient to use a template made of wooden beams. The refractory brick is laid out on edge. Outside, the tandoor is covered with fireclay clay. It serves as a great addition to a barbecue with a cauldron.

The design can be placed linearly along the wall of the house or gazebo. A kitchen with a barbecue grill can have a corner option, which can significantly save space. Tandoor is more often used for baking cakes.

Finishing work is completing the construction of an oven for barbecue and cooking other dishes of various cuisines of the world. You can install doors, dampers, check the chimney yourself. The barbecue must be completely dry to use its full potential. Then it can be cleaned of cement and decorative elements can be applied: tiled tiles, decorative stone or paint.

Forged braziers do not require additional finishing work. They can be coated with special anti-corrosion coatings.

What can be cooked in a cauldron

Mounting a cauldron in a metal barbecue is not as troublesome as it might seem at first. By itself, a brazier with a stand can allow you to cook barbecue, barbecue or baked potatoes in it in sunny weather. A stationary brick brazier significantly expands the culinary possibilities:

  1. You can cook dishes with "smoke" - Uzbek pilaf, triple fish soup.
  2. Boil rich soups - kharcho, broths.
  3. Warm up the water.
  4. Prepare other dishes from oriental cuisine.

A stationary brazier with a stand, built with your own hands from brick, can completely replace a home smokehouse or stove. Although there is no significant difference between the Russian stove and the barbecue, both have a chimney, the same thermal circulation and are under the "roof". There are various drawings on the Internet that differ in the type of construction and design. If you properly equip a cauldron barbecue with a stand in the country near the gazebo, then you can enjoy freshly prepared dishes, being in a cozy atmosphere, despite the bad weather. Dachas are an ideal place for metal barbecues with or without a stand!

Preparing to build a barbecue with a cauldron

Before proceeding with the construction of the furnace, it is necessary to determine the place of its installation, sketch out a sketch of the future model and select the appropriate masonry material.

Location identification

The stove should not be under trees or close to a flammable fence. It is optimal to put it near your favorite place to eat on the site. The platform should be large, then it will be convenient to cook. If desired, you can build a stove with a sink, then you need to bring water and sewage to it. If this is difficult, then the stove is placed near the garden tap.

Material selection

A barbecue oven can be built from river stone (it's very beautiful), from expanded clay blocks or ordinary red brick. But the surfaces in contact with fire are laid out from special refractory bricks, because all the materials listed above cannot withstand the high temperature in the barbecue or under the cauldron and crack. The same applies to masonry mortar. Places where the flame burns are laid out on a special composition. The solution for the rest of the furnace is also specific: the cement will not withstand even a small temperature, so clay is used instead of the cement part of the solution.

An outdoor stove made of river stone looks impressive, but requires certain masonry skills.

Model definition

Before calculating the amount of building material, it is necessary to decide on the model of the "garden fireplace". The following aspects should be taken into account here:

  • dimensions of the barbecue oven; if the structure is massive, it will need a foundation;
  • location;
  • the shape of the furnace compartment;
  • the shape and dimensions of the chimney;
  • additional elements such as a cauldron, sink, oven.

We chose to build a complex furnace. This is a barbecue grill with a stove for cooking and a cauldron, the project of master Valentin Brui called "Stonehenge".

Calculation of the number of bricks

The calculation of the material is done after choosing a model with an ordering scheme. The approximate number of bricks in each row is considered, their type (refractory, silicate, ordinary) and shape are taken into account. Approximate calculations are made as follows: bricks are counted in the first, continuous row; the resulting number is multiplied by the number of rows and the so-called fill factor. For barbecue ovens, it is 0.65. We take into account that approximately 15% of the bricks will go into marriage, this number must be increased to 30% if it is planned to cut bricks. They do break down.

Table: calculation of the need for materials

Table: Required Tools

Foundation preparation

Before proceeding with the brickwork, it is necessary to prepare the foundation for the future furnace.

For the foundation, mark the desired area with pegs and thread with a margin of 1 meter on each side. Before the oven, the stock can be made much more.

The required area for the foundation can be marked with pegs and thread

  1. Dig a pit 30–50 cm deep. Considering the size and weight of the furnace, it is necessary to make not a strip foundation, but a slab.
  2. At the bottom of the pit, pour a layer of crushed stone or gravel about 10 cm high; compact the layer tightly.
  3. Reinforce the foundation with a lattice of metal rods to make it more reliable.
  4. Prepare a solution: 1 part of cement to 2 parts of sand, mix well, pour at once so that there are no cracks. Let the plate dry well.

The foundation must be poured in one step so that there are no cracks

After the mixture has dried, cover the slab with roofing material, preferably in two layers - to ensure waterproofing.

For waterproofing, the frozen slab must be covered with roofing material in two layers.

Ordinary brick must be soaked in water before laying, otherwise it absorbs water from the mortar, the mortar will dry quickly and be weak.

Sometimes, instead of concrete, brick is used for the foundation. A concrete foundation is more durable and cheaper, but a brick foundation is easier to fold and dismantle if necessary.

Preparation for construction drawings and optimal dimensions

The construction of the barbecue oven structure should be preceded by preparatory measures for choosing the place of construction, drawing up drawings and diagrams.

To create a barbecue oven, you can use ready-made drawings

When choosing a site for construction, you must be guided by the following rules:

  1. Between the furnace complex and residential building distance must be at least 5 m.
  2. Access to the kitchen should not be too far from the structure. If necessary, they can be placed under one roof.
  3. The building should be placed away from the neighbors' residential building, as smells and smoke can irritate them.
  4. The solution of all construction issues should be entrusted to specialists.
  5. Before building, it is necessary to conduct a study of the soil, and, in accordance with its quality, select the appropriate type of foundation.

An important role is played by the size of the future barbecue oven.

The height of the barbecue oven should be such that it is convenient for any member of the family to cook on it

If the surface with a sink, a barbecue grill or a cauldron is placed too low, then after a while the back will get tired, and if the work surfaces are too high during the cooking process, burns cannot be avoided.

To find the golden mean, you should follow the rule - the optimal height of the working surface of the barbecue oven should be slightly below the level of the cook's elbows.

If the width of the selected area does not allow making a wide structure, then this optimal parameter can be considered a value of 240–250 cm. Such a furnace complex will be compact and convenient. The width of the brazier should be made 63–65 cm.

The size of the oven for the cauldron will be 3.5 bricks on each side, which corresponds to 87 cm.

Version of the brazier under a cauldron made of metal

Usually its components are:

  • Firebox.
  • Cauldron oven.
  • Support elements.

For work you will need:

Cauldron burner

  • Metal sheet. Density: 4-6 mm.
  • Corners / profile pipe.
  • Sheet steel, wide pipe or gas bottle.
  • Bulgarian.
  • Drill.
  • Welding technology.

Project development

First, create a blueprint with personal goals in mind. You can find a suitable drawing on the net.

Brazier parameters: height - 21 cm, width - 25 cm. Length varies. For one skewer, a segment of 8-12 cm is obtained. So the apparatus for 6 skewers in length reaches 70 cm: 10 cm is allocated to each skewer, 5 cm is allocated to the edges.

Such a stove can be placed on the brazier itself or be its permanent component.

The first case is suitable for frequent trips to nature with a disassembled apparatus.

The other is for organizing recreation at their summer cottage.

If the stove is planned to be removable, then its drawing is done after the creation of the brazier. Otherwise, you need to calculate its diameter. This is necessary for the design of supporting elements

The diameter is calculated easier when a gas cylinder is used to make the furnace. Its diameter is easily determined by hand.

If the creative work will take place from a sheet of metal, then it is necessary to be based on a cauldron. It should sit on its own rim without any problems. And the hole for it should allow it to move freely around the sides by 2 mm.

Principles for calculating the diameter of the brazier:

  • The diameter of the boiler from the inside is calculated.
  • 2.5 - 4 mm is subtracted from this value. The lower number is used for the 3 liter container and the larger one for the 12 liter container.

The resulting number is the diameter of the furnace. To calculate the sheet metal length, this number is multiplied by 3.14. 3 mm is added to the value obtained.

Creating a Brazier

It is created strictly according to the project. The stages of work are:

  1. The bottom and 3-4 walls are made on the side. Used sheet metal. 3 walls are made if it is necessary to weld the boiler.
  2. In the sidewalls, directed along, openings for skewers are made in the upper side. Each has a length of 5 cm. The width is identical to the width of the skewer itself.
  3. The edges are bent in the walls on the side. The bottom is placed on them. The bottom can be made removable.
  4. Holes with a diameter of 1–1.5 cm are made in the bottom. The distance between them is 2–3 cm. Rows with holes are also distant from each other. If a stove is attached to the barbecue, then a semicircle is cut on this side of the bottom.
  5. The side walls are welded.

Creating datums

Usually they are characterized by solid strength and stability. The corners are the most commonly used. Parameters: at least 3 x 3 cm.

If you plan to install another smokehouse, forged legs are placed.

Crossbars must be welded to the top of the legs. They will make a rectangle. In terms of width and length, it is identical to the main part of the entire structure. The width of the crossbars themselves is 3-4 cm.

Identical parts are mounted to the legs at a distance of 10-20 cm from the ground. There will be a shelf for firewood.

The brazier is attached to the supports using the following methods:

  • Just sticks to them.
  • Latches are used.
  • To the outer crossbars, or rather their corners and centers, elements of forged rods are welded. Their length is 4 cm. The position is vertical.

Methods 2 and 3 allow you to disassemble the device into two parts. This makes it easier to move around.

Pilav, beshbarmak, manti, etc.

Dishes of Turkic-Iranian cuisine are not cooked with smoke. But this does not mean that an ordinary oven with a cauldron is suitable for them, a simple pilaf will not turn out the same. The fact is that oriental cuisine involves heating the cooking utensils mainly from the sides and uniform distribution of heat in the prepared mass, for which the famous “four holes” are made in the pilaf.

How to achieve this, shows the scheme of the outdoor oven for pilaf in fig. The whole trick is that the aerodynamic focus of gas flows, firstly, is combined with the thermal focus of the furnace (marked with a red circle). Secondly, it is shifted down and forward from the longitudinal axis of the boiler to compensate for the aerodynamic asymmetry of the collection gas channel. It arises due to the fact that there is only one exit to the chimney. Of course, this furnace also requires a pipe with a diameter of 160-200 mm and a height of 2.5-4 m, otherwise there will be no draft.

Scheme of the structure of the oven for pilaf

In the pilaf oven, you can cook not only pilaf. The boiler is removable, instead of it you can insert, for example. manti-kaskan. The ordering of the oven for pilaf is shown on the next. rice. Unlike the “simple” furnace mentioned above, shaped bricks, a complex undercut and a diaphragm layout are not needed here.

Types of barbecue with a cauldron

There are many modifications of barbecue under cauldrons. Most simple option lies in the adaptation of the plate. Complex types include the installation of the oven, sink. From additional outbuildings, the method of laying a barbecue does not change. Ready-made metal barbecue, but this variety is essentially loses compared with brick products. When you decide to create a barbecue on the site, you need to decide on the type of oven.

Stationary ovens Outdoor barbecues are made from fireproof and cladding material.

This option is suitable for building kitchen complexes, which is considered an important circumstance for recreation not only with the family, but also for the whole company.

Brick construction or iron brazier? Advantages and disadvantages

Any construction, including the construction of a barbecue on the site, must be started with choosing the optimal project. You need to understand how much territory the owner can determine for a barbecue. Owners of suburban areas with financial opportunity and sufficient area can consider views with a whole barbecue complex in combination with a gazebo.

Such a modification includes the arrangement of a smokehouse, stove, barbecue, as well as the installation of a kitchen table. Clay and refractory brick barbecues are strong, weather resistant and will last over 20 years. When creating a barbecue project with a cauldron and a sink, you need to decide on founding place. Therefore, several factors should be taken into account:

  • select flat and dry area for construction;
  • area should be away from flammable buildings, at a distance less than a meter;
  • forbidden host a barbecue on the road or among the beds, as well as next to the fence neighboring area.

It is preferable to choose an option close to the reservoir as the best recreation area.

Important! If you have an idea to buy a metal barbecue, you should refuse, because this option has its drawbacks. You can get not only a burn, but also a dubious security system, since the structure heats up rapidly

Unlike metal barbecues, stone stoves have safety fence. Another problem with iron barbecues is rain that can put out the fire. It is for this reason that builders choose outdoor fixtures made of brick material.

Photo 1. The obvious advantages of a solid brick construction will be: a separate stove, chimneys and a lot of space for cooking.

How to choose the right project?

There are various designing designs, but the most common are:

  • Mini designs with a chimney exhaust system.
  • Complex structure. This type of oven is considered multifunctional and contains additional equipment, such as a sink or smokehouse. Plans to create similar systems differ due to equipment.
  • Device with a fireplace has a wide range for burning logs. The device is supplied with a brazier, which includes a section with a grill. The owner can design the stove with his own hands according to the finished plan. But the drawings will need to be made exclusively for your project.

Photo 2. A possible, but not the easiest option for a brick barbecue project with the indicated dimensions.

When choosing the optimal barbecue project with or without a brick cauldron, you must initially evaluate your strengths and knowledge, since certain drawings difficult to do without certain skills. With self-construction, the following options are suitable:

  • with a cauldron;
  • with a narrow chimney / absence;
  • with departments.

cauldron barbecue projects are used to form a system outdoors and come in closed designs. Complex plans with brick cauldron difficult to perform. Such devices are built only by specialists. It is important to follow the sequence of stages of construction, otherwise the system will collapse under weight.

About stoves Samarkand

Ovens-cauldrons "Samarkand"

The “Samarkand” oven-cauldron (see the figure on the right) completely replaces the brick oven for “Asia”, and is much cheaper: the culinary “Samarkand” with a 6-liter cauldron and weighing 40 kg can be bought for 15,000 rubles. , and the bai mentioned above in a green jacket with gold buttons will not refuse pilaf from it. But the popularity of "Samarkand" caused a fair amount of confusion.

Firstly, critics are indignant: where is the fireclay lining? Where are the burnouts with collections? It was from these expensive and mobility-depriving parts of the furnace that the Samarkand hull made of modern heat-resistant steel allowed to be abandoned. Having calculated it properly in conjunction with a standard boiler, the designers achieved a languishing mode, as in a large brick oven. And at the same time, the minimum volume of the boiler was reduced from 40-50 liters to 5-6. The thermal power for different dishes is already regulated by the air supply to the furnace, and not by the choice of firewood, elm-chinar-saxaul-poplar, etc.

But the main confusion around "Samarkand" is that a lot of fakes are offered on the Internet, and often directly from the manufacturer. The company is not to blame here, it also produces heating stoves with a hob, and various others. And invisible merchants do not miss the opportunity to take an ordinary furnace and sell it at a special price.

The initial screening of dubious offers can be done on the basis of releases and announcements of resellers. Of course, they have heard about V-1, 2, they are familiar with the legends about V-3, but, being, to put it mildly, not very literate, they do not know that “fau” is the letter of the German alphabet V, and the name itself "wonder weapon" comes from Vergeltung (Vergeltung, retribution). Therefore, the name of the company is written Feringer, while it is called Veringer. Direct contractors of the manufacturer, of course, do not make such mistakes.

The next, and final, stage of verification of the proposal is already the usual one: we require a certificate for the furnace. It must clearly state its purpose. In any case, even the original "Samarkand" at a price of less than 15 thousand rubles. - ordinary. "Bay" pilaf will not work in it.

Brick brazier with a stove under the cauldron with your own hands. Step-by-step instruction

Consider the example of building a furnace, the length of which is 6 ceramic bricks. To make a foundation, you need to dig a hole 30 cm deep, and the width should be 10 cm more than the length of the future building.

Fix the formwork from the edged board along the perimeter. After backfilling the pit with sand and gravel, everything must be carefully compacted, while pouring water.

At the next stage, the base must be poured with a solution prepared from two bags of cement.

After about a couple of weeks, the mixture will dry and it will be possible to lay a layer of waterproofing. For this fit ruberoid. The next layer will be one row of masonry, which is also filled with mortar.

The first two rows must be laid out in a solid rectangle to avoid overheating of the roofing material. All corners must be leveled with a building level. Excess solution should be removed immediately.

During the laying out of the third row, the volume and place for the furnace are formed.

For the barbecue, you must definitely make a blower. For this, a material construction is used that can easily withstand temperature changes. As shown in the picture, an old oven monobloc is used.

A thermal gap must be left between the doors and the masonry, since the metal expands during heating.

It should be noted that the height of the hob depends on the size of the door, but 84 cm is considered optimal.

In order for heat to pass into the brazier, you need to leave a gap of two bricks. In addition, this will make it easier to shovel coals.

Thanks to the correct masonry, it is possible to achieve reliable fixation of the door. For the woodcutter, you need to make a separate wall.

To improve the aesthetic appearance, it is better to use brick quarters for the top of the firewood shed. The door is fastened with wire, which is fastened with bricks.

After that, you need to make a woodcutter arch and a roof. As a support, another wall needs to be made inside it. A firebox is made from the lower part, after which a hearth is erected with the help of vetonite.

In the center, be sure to leave a little space for installing the grate.

At all seams, it is necessary to smear the cement mortar and continue the construction of the walls of the firebox to a certain height. Then close the seams.

The woodshed is covered with a galvanized sheet.

Then you need to continue laying out the back wall, as well as lay out a couple of rows of the future firewood arch. As a result, the design is already beginning to resemble a real barbecue.

Make six exits for smoke from the firebox.

At the next stage, you need to block the firebox with a flooring.

Lay a heat-insulating layer on top of the firebox, after which the hob.

At the last stage, you need to build a chimney. To do this, bricks are simply laid out sequentially.

Before using the brazier with a stove, you need to wait until the structure is completely dry. After that, you can start to kindle a fire. I hope this detailed instruction will allow you to quickly and easily build such a structure.

Preparatory work

Initially, you need to choose a project that is in harmony with the appearance of the house and garden plot.

The building can be made of red or white brick, tiled, decorative stone or even plaster.

We assure you that the made brazier with a cauldron will give the garden plot a new look and will be a favorite recreation area. And if you want to make a roof for the structure, we advise you to look at the article about barbecues with a metal roof - the photo is included!

We determine the place for installation on the site where it will be installed

For the effectiveness and safety of the barbecue, you need to properly position it in your yard. Usually the right place is located near the house and replaces the main kitchen in the summer.

  • The space where it will be installed brazier with a roof and a stove under a cauldron, should not be removed from the house and kitchen, since you always need to bring cutlery, dishes and water;
  • According to safety requirements, it is impossible to construct a brazier next to wooden buildings and fences. They can be damaged by smoke and fire.

Do-it-yourself brick brazier: drawings and photos

So, if the location and approximate dimensions of the future structure are determined, it is necessary to proceed to the drawing. This, first of all, will make it possible to adjust the volume of earthworks and the amount of building materials.

We bring to your attention the project under brazier with a roof and a stove under a brick cauldron as well as a drawing. In addition, in this project there is a sink.

Tools and materials

Below are the tools and materials that you will need to bring to life the project of the presented barbecue order with a brick cauldron.

Shovel
Cement tank
Bucket
Master OK
Level
Hammer
Bulgarian
Gloves
Drill
Edged board
Roulette
Extension
Putty knife
plumb line
Concrete mixer

Materials:

Gravel
Sand
Decorative rock
Private
fireclay brick
Cement
Refractory mixture
cauldron
fittings
Glue tile
waterproofing film

For a stationary barbecue, a brick of any kind is suitable. For a brazier where the fuel burns directly and the source of heat is located, it is desirable (but not necessary) to use fireclay or solid red bricks.

For the cold zone, you can choose the usual sand-cement mixture in a ratio of 3 to 1.

Barbecue oven from a barrel

You can make a stove with your own hands without using a brick. For example, from a barrel! The simplest brazier, which uses a piece of a barrel, mounted on bricks. A piece from the barrel must be made of refractory material: iron or oak. It will not be possible to extinguish dishes on such a design, but frying “with smoke” is just right.

  1. A segment of the barrel is turned over on the fire, and a pot or cauldron is suspended above it, the length is adjusted depending on the weather and wind direction.
  2. To adjust the length, a regular tripod with a chain is used.
  3. We saw through a segment of the barrel with a grinder on both sides, and make the bottom “petals”.

Such a home-made brazier from a barrel is very simple to manufacture and practically does not require large financial costs and special skills.

materials

When the place is chosen and there is a project for your barbecue with a brick cauldron, we prepare tools and building materials. Many are already at the cottages. The rest we buy in specialized stores. You will need:

  1. bricks. Silicate should be discarded immediately. We take refractory, hardened.
  2. Refractory mortar for bricklaying.
  3. Building level, vertical and horizontal. It is important to check the correct masonry levels, so experts recommend laying the oven dry first, that is, without a fixing solution.
  4. Shovel.
  5. Solution container.
  6. Spatula, trowel.
  7. Doors made of metal with a width of at least 3 mm. - for the ash pan, for the furnace. Cast iron sheet with a hole - for cooking. You can also use carbon metal alloys.
  8. for barbecue.
  9. Roofing sheet.
  10. Crushed stone, sand.
  11. Master OK.

What are the features of brick barbecues

Due to the use of bricks during construction, the structure will be strong, durable and wear-resistant. Such building material does not corrode, does not deform from heating. High heat capacity characteristics allow you to keep heat for a long time, and this is a significant savings on fuel. In this case, the prepared dishes will be evenly and deeply fried. Additionally, a wide selection of bricks is presented, different types of which are used for the construction of individual structural elements taken. Due to the ease of processing, no special equipment is required. Among the shortcomings, only the bulkiness and static nature of the resulting structure, as well as painstaking work on the arrangement, are noted.

Various homemade

Development of the shell of the stove under the cauldron

The most popular and very good home-made stove for a cauldron is a sheet of any steel (shell) rolled into a wide pipe on a fireproof stand or simply on the ground; see fig. The proportions of the workpiece are approximately 3:4 (height / length). The proportions of the furnace opening are the same, and its area is 1/8-1/10 of the workpiece area. A fire door is not required. You can cook in such an oven with smoke, and “asia” of good quality, and just boil and stew.

At first glance, it is not difficult to calculate the length of the workpiece: we take the diameter of the pot along the outer edge of the rim, subtract 2.5-4 mm from it, for 3-12 liters of the pot, respectively, and multiply by π = 3.14. We also give an allowance for the welding seam (approx. 3 mm) and cut out the workpiece. We put the bowler hat, and it ... either fails or immediately gets stuck. Although, so that it does not jam from expansion when heated, a cold pot in a cold stove should “fidget” by 1.5-2 mm in all directions.

The fact is that thin metal conducts strongly when welding. In production, the exact dimensions of the workpiece and the welding mode are selected according to prototypes, and the selection has to be done every time you change the grade or even the batch of the sheet. And then accurately maintain the welding mode, which is impossible with its manual method.

In fact, the length of the blank for a metal stove must be considered based on the INNER largest diameter of the pot. And then in the corners of the petals that form the corolla of the oven, we make small, 1.5-2 cm, longitudinal slots, and the petals are slightly bent outward, and their edges upward until the bowler sits freely on the rim. It is impossible to make the shell wider and bend the petals inward, from thermal expansion they will tightly dig into the bowler hat and you will not pull it out.

Note: metal cauldrons of this type are commercially available in many, see fig. below. Price without a boiler - from 300 rubles. Internet scammers often pass them off as branded Asian ones, which is discussed at the end. Then the price is inflated to "Samarkand".

Metal ovens

For smoky and Asian-style cooking, different pots are needed in such an oven. Under "Asia" - a smaller flattened, sitting in the oven as described above, and always with a tight lid. Under the smoke - more, sitting in the whisk of the furnace no more than 1/4 of its height, otherwise it will jam.

Note: in the age of rampant hunting for scrap metal, the once popular cauldron made of leaky brewing on bricks is almost forgotten, see fig. And dishes with smoke, and “Asia” on such an awkward ugly thing turned out - you will lick your fingers.

Construction types

Depending on the mobility of the brazier, several varieties are distinguished.

  • Stationary These are massive structures that cannot be moved. As a rule, they are laid out of brick, have several surfaces for cooking, can be equipped with a visor, a roof.
  • portable These are mobile devices that are easy to transport. They can be folding, prefabricated, and also mobile (have wheels).

If there is a grill above the brazier, then such a device is called a barbecue.

If we are talking about metal braziers, then they can be thick-walled and thin-walled. The first are distinguished by a long service life, they are usually stationary. The second is the prerogative of mobile devices, since thinner walls provide less weight for the brazier. It is logical that a small mass of a mobile barbecue is one of its most important criteria.

Stationary "stoves" can be angular and universal. Thanks to its compactness, the corner unit saves space in the garden. A universal brazier is an option, the installation of which is not tied to a specific place on the site, and also includes several cooking surfaces.

As for the material of manufacture, depending on its type, there are several types of barbecue grills.

  • Brick. It is characterized by the ability to flare up to high temperatures and give off heat for a long time. This allows you to cook several dishes at once or cook dishes for a large company in several batches, without fear that the grill has cooled down. Such devices, unlike analogues made of metal, do not corrode, tolerate the negative effects of the external environment, the service life of a properly folded brazier is a century. It is the brick structure that allows you to organize a combined barbecue, including several cooking surfaces, a countertop and even a sink. Finally, such devices look solid and respectable. They will definitely decorate the site. The "cons" of brick braziers are a rather long period of their construction (at least 14 days are required to prepare the foundation), labor intensity and the high cost of the construction process.
  • Metal. It is characterized by fire safety, fast heating, ease of installation. The simplest design can be made by hand from metal sheets or a suitable barrel size. There are also forged options that are distinguished by sophistication in appearance.
  • Combined. Combines both brick and metal elements. As a rule, a metal box is made of metal. This option has an iron base under the cauldron.

Depending on the number of cooking surfaces and their purpose, cauldrons are distinguished:

  • with a barbecue grill (ideal for cooking fried meat, fish);
  • with a smokehouse (a smokehouse can be used not only for cured and smoked meat, but also for cooking barbecue);
  • with a cauldron in which it is convenient to boil water, cook soups, boil potatoes and pilaf.

masonry

When the foundation has hardened, we proceed to the ordering of the bricks. First, with levels in hand, we make dry masonry. If everything is correct, we start ordering with a refractory solution.

It must be produced strictly in accordance with the drawings of the project that you have chosen.

Despite the chosen project, there is a set of unshakable ordering rules:

  1. The thickness of the seam between the bricks is 12 mm.
  2. For the evenness and strength of the structure, dressing is needed, that is, the corner brick of the upper row must overlap the seam of the lower one.
  3. Use levels when laying each row of bricks.
  4. Remove excess mortar with a trowel. In order for the brick to lay flat, we knock it out with a rubber mallet.

In accordance with the project, on the first row we leave a hole of the required size for the ash pan, above (again, in accordance with the project, usually it is 3-4 rows) - for firewood, we also take into account the chimney.

Ordering also provides for overlapping the furnace. On the 12th row, do not forget about the hole for the chimney. At the level of the bottom of the boiler, according to the project, the chimney is narrowed. The 13th row of the order, as a rule, provides a frame for the corners for installing the plate.

When the main part of the structure is ready, lay out the pipe. The height of the pipe will also depend on the project. Of course, it is better to foresee that the smoke does not come out at the level of the people sitting next to the table.

First furnace

After the furnace is built, it is necessary to produce the first firebox.

It is better to do this in the dry season, after also drying the oven

The firebox should be short and only branches or paper.

Refine design

After the construction is completed, you can think about beauty. Although a barbecue with a brick cauldron will decorate any personal plot, if you wish, you can decorate the doors and the pipe with metal brackets, various elements of fireproof materials. Many people cover the oven with refractory tiles.

A simple brick oven for a cauldron

For a small barbecue area, a compact cauldron oven will suffice. On sale you can find finished metal products, but building with your own hands will bring much more pleasure. For all its simplicity and miniature size, this model is quite functional. After removing the removable boiler, it turns into a full-fledged barbecue, and the hole, closed with rings, becomes a regular stove suitable for any dishes.

The principle of operation of the furnace for a cauldron

Materials and tools

For the construction of a barbecue oven with a cauldron, it is necessary to prepare red brick and refractory fireclay bricks for the firebox, heat-resistant masonry mortar, grate, doors for the firebox, ash pan and cleaning hole. To cover the top of the oven, you will need a solid steel or cast iron plate with a round hole about 20 mm thick. To install the plate, you will need steel corners.

A cauldron should be bought in advance so as not to be mistaken with the diameter and depth of the bowl for it. It is recommended to choose cast-iron dishes with thick walls, a thickened bottom and four handles-ears. Ideally, while cooking, 2/3 of the pot should be below the level of the stove.

Ordinal masonry scheme

This simple project of a barbecue oven with a cauldron is a brick cabinet with a recess for a pot. The insignificant weight of the structure allows you to do without a powerful foundation, limiting yourself to pouring a concrete slab that levels the base. To protect the building from destructive moisture, it is imperative to provide waterproofing.

Ordering a simple oven for a cauldron

The first row of the outdoor stove is laid dry on a layer of sand and the horizontal is carefully checked so as not to worry about the uneven water level in the cauldron in the future. On the second row, a blower door is installed, securing it with wire, and an ash pan. Next, the laying is carried out by dressing.

At the level of the third row, a grate is laid and a cylindrical firebox is laid out with fireclay bricks with a quarter-brick dressing

It is important not to forget that it is forbidden to use simple and refractory material in one dressing! . For the exit of flue gases at the level of 4-5 rows, a hole with a cross section of 25 * 14 cm should be provided, and on the 12th row - holes for the movement of flue gases from the firebox to the outlet channels

At the level of the bottom of the pot, a narrowing of the flue is made. 13 close the outlet channels with refractory bricks and fix a frame from the corner around the perimeter. A plate is installed on the corners. If a steel sheet is taken instead of a finished plate, a hole is cut out in it with a grinder and the edges are polished with a file.

For beginners, laying a cylindrical firebox can be the most difficult. A rounded surface is achieved using brick halves cut at an angle. If you try and lay out perfectly smooth walls, the oven can be used as a tandoor for baking cakes, after cleaning the firebox from ash after burning firewood and covering the hole with a wooden lid.

An example of laying a cylindrical firebox

After construction, the oven should be well dried before use. The first firebox is made short by burning thin twigs or paper. If desired, brick walls can be overlaid with clinker tiles.

General arrangement of a barbecue oven with a cauldron and a sink

A barbecue oven is a capital building for cooking various dishes on the heat of hot coals. The peculiarity of this installation is that the cooking process is carried out on a metal grate without an open flame, and the brazier is not closed with a lid.

In the terminological aspect, the concept of "barbecue" means a method of roasting meat or vegetable products over smoldering coals at a temperature in the range of 100–130 ° C.

For the convenience of cooking, such devices are modernized by attaching additional compartments and installations to them. A design that combines a barbecue oven, a brazier with the possibility of installing a cauldron, as well as an extension with a sink has gained great popularity. It should be noted that the brazier can easily be turned into a regular stove if the cauldron is removed and cast-iron rings of various sizes are placed on the hole, forming a continuous surface.

The oversized barbecue oven has many positives and a few negatives.

Preparation for construction: drawings and optimal dimensions

The construction of the barbecue oven structure should be preceded by preparatory measures for choosing the place of construction, drawing up drawings and diagrams.

When choosing a site for construction, you must be guided by the following rules:

  1. There must be a distance of at least 5 m between the furnace complex and the residential building.

The choice of material, the calculation of the required quantity

For the construction of barbecue ovens, various materials are used, which include brick, metal, stone and clay.

From the latter, you can make a monolithic structure.

Clay has been used in ancient pottery. The first historical references to such structures were found in the III millennium BC. Nowadays, this type of furnace is used extremely rarely. For its manufacture, fatty clay of a special breed is needed.

Barbecue stoves made of stone are more common, but they are not widely popular, since their construction requires rubble stone, sandstone and limestone. The inconvenience of this material lies in its different form, which is why each element has to be carefully selected to each other.

Furnace complexes made of metal are widely used at the present time, due to the relative cheapness of the material and the ease of its processing. A large number of ready-made structures are on sale. At home, such structures are made in compact sizes.. For this, steel sheets or pipes with a thickness of at least 5 mm are used. A popular option is to use old propane tanks. The wall thickness and dimensions of these containers are suitable for the manufacture of such structures.

The most convenient, high-quality and durable material for the furnace is brick. It has a standard size and shape.

It should be noted that not any type of brick is suitable for the construction of a barbecue oven.. For example, silicate cannot be used. For braziers, ovens and other structures operating at high temperatures, fire-resistant red and fireclay material is used. The combustion chamber is surrounded only by the second type.

In addition to the main building material, you will need:

  1. Concrete mix for laying the foundation.
  2. Boards or plywood panels for the manufacture of formwork.
  3. Reinforcing bars for the construction of a metal frame that strengthens the concrete base.
  4. Sand and gravel for the foundation.
  5. Wire, plastic clamps or a welding machine to secure all connections of the reinforcing structure.
  6. Waterproofing material for the foundation. For this, thick polyethylene or roofing material is usually used.
  7. Metal sink, faucet, drains, rubber hose.
  8. Metal corners for installing a countertop with a sink, fasteners for a barbecue grill and other elements of the oven construction.

All these materials require careful calculations.

Bricks, clay mortar

To build a barbecue oven, you will need 810–820 refractory reds, as well as 30–35 fireclay. The thickness of the seams between them is 3–5 mm.

Concrete, sand, gravel

Since the barbecue oven will combine several working areas, its design will take up a large area of land. For this complex to be stable, it is necessary to make a capital foundation. As such, a slab foundation is suitable.

To calculate the exact amount of concrete, you need to know the total volume of the base. To do this, you need to use a special geometric formula. Since the foundation will be made in the form of a flattened parallelepiped measuring 270x100x20 cm, the volume of the concrete mixture must be calculated using the formula V = h³, where h is the length of the side of the figure. On an example, it will look like this: 2.7∙1.0∙0.2=0.54 m³.

Using the same formula, the volume of sand and gravel is calculated. For the base, a layer of each material with a thickness of 10 cm is required. From this it follows that sand is required: 2.7 ∙ 1.0 ∙ 0.1 = 0.27 m³. The same value for gravel.

fittings

So that the foundation does not crack under the weight of the furnace, it is necessary to strengthen it. This requires a metal frame. For its manufacture, reinforcing bars 12 mm thick are used. The metal structure is a three-dimensional frame in the form of two gratings, which are interconnected by pieces of reinforcement 15 cm long. The size of each cell in the frame is 10x10 cm.

The calculation of this material is more convenient to do in running meters. To do this, it is necessary to determine the total length of the entire reinforcement for the frame. To do this, you must first calculate the number of rods located along the length of the frame, then along the width and between the gratings.

The bars are calculated along the length of the structure. The length of each of them is 95 cm. It is necessary to determine how many rods will fit along the length of the foundation if the distance between each of them is 10 cm. This requires 270:10=27 pieces. It is necessary to add one more rod, since from the other edge of the frame it will close the structure. To find out how much it is in linear meters, you need 27 ∙ 0.95 = 26.6 m.

The same calculation principle is used to calculate the amount of reinforcement along the width of the base. For this, 100:10 = 10 pieces, in linear meters it will be: 2.7 ∙ 10 = 27 m.

It is necessary to add these values to get the general parameter for one lattice: 26.6 + 27 = 53.6 m.

Since the design provides for two gratings, then 53.6 ∙ 2 = 107.2 linear meters.

Now you need to calculate the number of reinforcing elements connecting the two parts of the frame. These rods are located along the perimeter (at the intersection of each bar), as well as inside the structure, at a distance of 90 cm from each other in rows.

From the previous calculations, the number of rods along the width and length of the frame is known: 28 + 10 = 38 m. This value must be doubled, since the elements are located along the perimeter of the structure: 38 ∙ 2 = 76 pieces. There are two more rows of 10 pieces inside the frame, so 76 + 20 = 96 pieces. It is not difficult to determine this value in running meters: 96∙0.15=14.4 running meters.

Foundation waterproofing

To calculate the required amount of waterproofing material, you need to find the area of the base. The area of this figure is determined by the following formula: S=a∙b, where a is the width, b is the length of the rectangle. Let's substitute the values: 2.7∙1.0=2.7 m².

Step-by-step instructions for making a barbecue oven with a cauldron

When the site for construction has been selected and prepared, drawings and diagrams of the future structure have been drawn up, and the necessary materials have been purchased, you can proceed to the direct construction of the barbecue oven. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. On the selected site, make markings for the foundation of the future furnace. To do this, you can use cords and stakes.
  2. In accordance with the markings, dig a pit 35 cm deep. Its bottom must be leveled and compacted.
  3. Pour sand inside the pit to get a uniform layer 10 cm thick. The material will be better compressed if it is wetted.
  4. Pour the same layer of gravel on top.
  5. Make formwork from edged boards or thick plywood. Its height must be at least 25 cm so that the level of poured concrete does not reach the upper edge of the side.
  6. Install the formwork at the bottom of the pit parallel to its walls.
  7. From reinforcing bars with a thickness of 12 mm, make a three-dimensional frame with cells measuring 10x10 cm. The structure should not touch the bottom, so place wooden blocks or fragments of bricks under it in a checkerboard pattern.
  8. Pour concrete mix. For the foundation, use cement grade M 250. The reinforcement cage must be completely hidden under the liquid mortar.
  9. Cover the foundation with waterproofing material. To do this, use roofing material or thick polyethylene. This is necessary so that the moisture inside the concrete evaporates evenly. If you leave the foundation open, the top layer will dry out quickly. In the future, this is fraught with the fact that the base will crack. The concrete mixture will harden in 4-5 days. The first two days you need to open the waterproofing and water the base with water every 10-12 hours. Polyethylene or roofing material does not allow moisture to evaporate quickly. So there is a uniform hardening of the slab foundation.
  10. When the base dries, it must be covered with a layer of roofing material or other waterproofing material, and only lay bricks on it. The first 6-7 rows are not fastened with cement mortar.
  11. The order of the barbecue oven must be done in accordance with the diagram. Each subsequent row must be shifted relative to the previous one in a checkerboard pattern. This method has a name - laying in half a brick. This ensures a reliable bonding of the material.
  12. Fireclay bricks must be used for the combustion chamber. It withstands temperatures over 1600°C. Check each row for vertical and horizontal using a building level, square and plumb line.
  13. Form places for ash pans and doors.
  14. For a cauldron, it is necessary to make a furnace compartment in the form of a straight or tapering cylinder. This part of the furnace is made of fireclay bricks.
  15. The construction of the chimney can only be started after the mortar has completely hardened in the masonry. The pipe can be built not only from bricks. Metal is often used for this.
  16. Install faucet and sink. Connect water supply hoses.
  17. After complete drying of the solution and shrinkage of the furnace structure, you can proceed to its finishing. To do this, you can use stone, brick, tiles or whitewash.
  18. Finishing material must be fixed on a prepared base. To do this, you must first plaster the surface using a mounting mesh with a mesh size of 10x10 mm.
  19. If you have chosen whitewash, then you need to use one that does not get dirty. For this, slaked carbide or lime salt is suitable.
  20. For finishing with stones and tiles, it is enough to clean the surface of dust and use ready-made adhesive mixtures.

Nuances of use

In order for the barbecue oven and its working elements to please you for a long time, you need to use it correctly:

  1. The heat will be uniform if you first remove the old ash.
  2. Smoke from residues under the ash pan from previous cooking can spoil the taste of the dish.
  3. Before use, a new cast-iron cauldron must be lubricated with sunflower oil, and then heated on the stove for 20 minutes. Add oil if necessary. After the specified time, leave the cauldron to dry, then drain the remaining oil. Wipe the inside with a dry cloth. Now it's ready to use. Each subsequent dish cooked in it will be tastier.
  4. It will be more comfortable to use such an oven if the floors in front of it are laid out with stone, and a canopy or roof is made over the brazier.

You can build a barbecue oven with your own hands, if you strictly follow the instructions and treat this process responsibly. This design will serve you for a long time and will fully meet your expectations.

Arriving at the dacha in the summer, you don’t feel like cooking in the hot kitchen in the heat. It is much more pleasant to do this outdoors under the cool jets of a light breeze. In order to be able to combine rest with a pleasant job of cooking, you need to worry in advance and build a brick stationary brazier with a cauldron on your site.

Building a furnace with your own hands is a difficult task, but if you understand the intricacies, then it will be on the shoulder of every owner. Work done on your own will save enough money and bring real pleasure to the owner and his loved ones from the process of building a kitchen unit in nature. After the construction is completed, all friends will be delighted and take a photo against the backdrop of a brick barbecue.

Some features of the barbecue oven with a cauldron

List of materials, fixtures and tools

To ensure full-fledged work without stopping to purchase the missing materials and tools, the construction site is provided with everything necessary in advance.

The choice of materials for the construction of the barbecue

Sand

River and quarry sand is used to prepare the concrete mixture, and only ravine sand is used for masonry clay mortar. River sand grains are constantly grinded by water and have a smooth rounded surface, which does not adhere well to clay.

Before adding to the masonry mortar, the sand is preliminarily cleaned of impurities by sieving and washed with a stream of water.

Brick

For the lower rows of masonry, refractory ceramic bricks of the first grade are used, red in color, without cracks, with a clear sound when tapped. It is advisable not to buy unburned second grade and burnt brown.

The firebox itself is made of fireclay refractory bricks, which can withstand the test of fire. The arch and vault are made of wedge-shaped bricks or turned to the desired shape. plain red brick. Silicate brick is not used for laying the furnace due to its high hygroscopicity.

Solution

It is made from clay with the addition of sand. The amount of sand is mixed from the fat content of the clay. For laying the lower rows and the facing layer, cement is added to the mortar at the rate of 1 kg per bucket of ready-made solution.

Before preparing the solution, the clay is kneaded for two weeks for complete swelling and soaking. It needs to be stirred every day. After this period, they are mixed with sand.

If there is no time for such procedures, you can purchase ready-made dry mortar mixtures on the construction market, which are used in furnace construction. Description and characteristics of mixtures along with photos can be found in store catalogs.

Starting with a project

First you need to find a place for the installation of the furnace on the site, take the necessary measurements on the ground and transfer them to paper. Then try to fit the dimensions of the desired structure into the existing framework.

Project or schematic drawings builder makes personally, it is very difficult to find a typical project with a photo for a specific case, especially with individual wishes.

The drawing is needed in order to have a clear location of all working blocks, outbuildings, foundations, fireboxes, smoke exhaust pipes. Having a diagram in hand, it is much easier to make the necessary changes in the process.

Implementation of the foundation base of the barbecue

The pit for the foundation is dug 5 cm wider than the dimensions of the furnace according to the project and 40 cm deep. If you dig a hole exactly the right size, then the installation of formwork is not required, concrete is poured into the pit in the ground. For marking, nylon threads are used, which are pulled over pegs. In order not to dig the pegs along with the extreme soil, they are taken out a meter from the design size, and the intersection of the threads is taken for the corners of the pit.

A layer of sand is laid on the bottom, mixed with rubble. It is compacted with homemade rammers or construction vibrators. Be sure to water for compacted styling.

It is better to prepare concrete in a concrete mixer, if there is none, then you will have to interfere with a shovel. Before filling with water, all components are mixed dry.

Concrete is poured into the pit, sprinkled with sawdust in a layer of 5 cm and in hot weather sprinkle sawdust with water to prevent surface cracking. The next day, concrete will gain 50% strength, and will fully recover after 27 days. You can start laying after 10 days.

Foundation waterproofing

It is carried out so that the concrete, saturated with moisture from the soil, does not transfer water to the walls of the furnace. They are made from two layers of roofing felt or building roofing. Each layer is glued on special mastics or hot resin. The edges of the insulation lead to the side surfaces by 10 cm.

Brickwork

A layer of asbestos or felt moistened with a solution is laid on the waterproofing. The first row of bricks according to the drawing is laid without mortar, the order and dimensions are clearly maintained. The squareness of the masonry is checked. The complexity of further work depends on the correctness of the first row.

Two rows of bricks are laid out in continuous masonry, and from the third begin to form a place under the oven. Do not forget to remove excess mortar protruding from the seams to maintain a beautiful appearance. Along the way, the seams of the masonry are embroidered with special embroidery.

Installation and fastening of the oven door

The next part of the work is the installation of the blower door. Such finished products are sold in a hardware store. If possible, do it yourself weld metal frame and door.

The metal increases in size at high temperatures, if you do not make a gap between the structure and the brick, then cracks will appear over time. They make a gap, which is filled with asbestos cord or modern silicon-based insulating materials. When heated, they do not emit substances harmful to the human body into the air, do not contain fibers and do not create a lot of smoke in case of fire.

When installing the firebox door, it is worth remembering that the working surface of the barbecue stove with a cauldron also depends on its height. The height of the firebox is not made too high, which prevents placing a large amount of firewood in the firebox.

When laying, do not forget to provide a place for hot air to enter the brazier. A height of two bricks is usually enough. Because of this improvement, it becomes easier to shovel coal.

Be sure to insert the door for cleaning. When erecting the side parts, a niche for firewood or coal is made for about two to three fireboxes.

Vault and arched lintel

The lintel in the form of an arch plays not only the role of a decorative element of decoration, it distributes the load from the upper part of the brickwork, increasing the strength of the brazier with a cauldron. It is not difficult to make such an arch with your own hands.

arched lintel performed in the form of a brick row, laid out in an arc. All bricks must be wedge-shaped. You can buy such ready-made bricks or hew ordinary ones. An odd number of stones are used in the arc, the uppermost central one is called the castle, and the outermost lateral ones are called the heels. Depending on the described radius, the arches are divided:

Stages of masonry arches

When laying the arched structure, a template prepared in advance is used. It is drawn on a sheet of plywood in duplicate. Two parts of the template according to the size of the wall thickness are fastened together with jumpers. Sometimes a welded metal template is made from rebar.

Some site owners arrange sheds with a full kitchen function. The stove is made with a brazier, in which a barbecue grill can be installed, a brazier is provided for the brazier, an oven is built in and a smoking chamber is made in one building. If you bring water and run a sewer drain, then this full outdoor summer kitchen.

It remains to build a beautiful romantic gazebo and after the weekend you will not want to return to the city.

When you have your own suburban area, a stove or barbecue there will not be superfluous at all. Such structures are often made of brick. In this case, it is important to know certain subtleties. And when you work on your own, you get serious savings.

First, a suitable area for the planned structure is selected. Near it there should be no buildings and vegetation. There should not be a powerful blowing here either.

It does not hurt to arrange a canopy here. This is a good defense against rain.

Simple Version

It is quite possible to create a brick brazier with a stove under a cauldron with your own efforts. Not necessarily the end goal of the project is a huge structure. You can also create a simple version.

The material here is fire-resistant brick.

For the foundation you need a hole. Its parameters: depth - 30 cm, width - 10 cm longer than the length of the planned structure.

Formwork is fixed along the perimeter. Their base material is edged board.

A sand and gravel layer is created in the pit. Approximately 8-10 cm. It is thoroughly rammed. It requires watering

The height of the building is small - less than 90 cm. And its mass is also modest. Therefore, a complex foundation is not needed here - a concrete layer of 10-12 cm curls. It is reinforced with reinforcement bars.

For complete drying and hardening of such a composition, it takes 10-14 days. After that, it can be covered with a waterproofing material, for example, roofing material. Then you can arrange the next layer - this is one masonry line. It also needs to be filled with composition.

Now about how a brazier with a stove under a cauldron is built.

The creation of such a brick barbecue implies the presence of at least minimal skills in the masonry process. First you need to resolve the issue with the parameters of the structure. It should also have a firewood storage. The furnace compartment is built only from fire-resistant bricks. The installation of the grate, through which air penetrates, takes place in a horizontal position. An ash pan is concentrated under them.

After defining the parameters, you can form the initial line. This is best done with a stretched rope or cord. A whole brick is used to lay out this line. Next comes the alternation of lines with half and whole bricks.

It turns out this order:

The hearth should have a spherical shape. For this, half of the bricks are used. Before that, they should be cut at the right angle. An ash pan door is mounted in the lower zone.

You can eliminate damage to the appearance by rubbing the seams. It is also blocking the exit of gases to the outside.

The ash pan door is blocked by the third line. Next, a grate is created and a fuel department (TO) is formed.

Laying out the fifth line, you need to fix the maintenance door. Thanks to the following two lines, a furnace is formed.

On line 11, an opening for air circulation is arranged.

On the final line, a tile for a cauldron is placed. A metal platform is required.

After these works, the building must dry completely. If necessary, it can be sheathed with fire-resistant tiles. After complete drying, the structure under the brick cauldron can be operated.

This is an example of the simplest version. Another version with a stove under the cauldron is presented below.

Second version

The foundation is being prepared. A zone is being prepared for him. It removes all impurities. Formwork is created. Its base material is edged board. The composition is being prepared (cement - sand 3: 1). It is poured into the formwork. Layer - 10 cm. Further, it is reinforced. Hydraulic protection is being laid. The first line starts.

The schemes of this masonry are shown

It is laid out in halves. This is a measure for a bunch of seams. A whole brick is used to form the next line. There is an alternation of lines according to this principle (half - a whole brick).

Metal components are fixed during laying.

When creating line 1 and 2, a small hole is saved. An ash pan will be located in it. To fix its door, ordinary wire is used. Walls are built on subsequent rows, then a grate is created and a hole is made to eliminate smoke.

TO is overlapped by lines 6 and 8. Further rows continue to form walls. At the final stage, a hob with a hole is placed.

This is how a simple project with a stove for a cauldron is implemented.

Creation of the complex

If you don’t want so many simple variations, you can create a complex: the Russian version of the stove + barbecue.

A strong foundation is being prepared with reinforcement. The layout starts. The first line is formed from burnt bricks. ¾ bricks are used to form corners. This is a link measure. Brick can be cut with a grinder. Only she must have a diamond disc.

This is how a brick cauldron barbecue project begins (in 3D)

On the second line, the walls are built further. An ash pan is being arranged

Line 3 is done without composition. Doors are mounted on the front side for easy cleaning and blowing. Their fastening method is wire. The method of its fixation is a solution.

Laying out line 4, you need to block the hearth tunnels

The grate is placed on line 5. Its inner side is also made of fire-resistant brick without composition

On the left - the position of the water heating tank (tank). Next comes the formation of TO

A grate is placed on line 7. Its right wall is reinforced with steel strips and seams.

Laying out line 10, you need to connect the vaults of two TOs and close the bottom of the crucible

For laying out the side walls of the tile, fire-resistant bricks are used. It is also needed for the front walls of the crucible. A chimney is created on the left side.

It is necessary to ensure the narrowing of the arch of the crucible from line 17. And here the chimney should expand. A steel tie is used to reinforce the rear wall.

Then a wall is created in front, and the crucible is insulated.

For laying out the arch of the crucible, a formwork is arranged. Its bases are rectangular frames. They serve as sponges for plywood semi-circular components. A screed is used to strengthen the wall in front.

The furnace is filled with sand. Rammed. This keeps the heat in.

The next line closes the furnace and narrows the overtube (Ptr).

The next two lines also narrow the Ptr and form a chimney.

A damper is used to isolate the Ptr. This happens on line 24.

On lines 25 and 26, Ptr smoothly connects to the chimney.

The number of chimney lines can be increased. Their number is determined by the plans of the owners and the height of the canopy. A pipe is mounted from the outside.

It is extremely difficult to create such a brazier and a cauldron in one oven without proper experience and alone. Therefore, it is better to involve specialists. They can develop their own projects or implement your ideas.

In general, homemade brick barbecues are quite popular. Moreover, many owners make simple, but effective variations.

"Bukhara"

Also, a barbecue oven with a cauldron does not have to be made of bricks. Metal versions are no less popular. Moreover, they can be purchased in a ready-made format, for example, “Bukhara”.

The combined brazier Vira Bukhara is a cauldron brazier.

This is a universal device for various tasks: barbecue, cooking in cauldrons, grilled dishes, etc.

Peculiarities:

  • The material of key parts is structural steel. Density - 3 mm.
  • For the convenience of cooking, there are hanging shelves.
  • There are mobile brackets for hanging accessories.
  • Massive MOT.
  • TO has such a design that coal accumulates directly on the grate.
  • The TO door has a solid handle and a damper with which you can adjust the combustion activity. Clause 7 also applies for this purpose.
  • There is a convenient retractable ash drawer.
  • Thanks to the powerful cast-iron grate, combustion is stable and intense.
  • The upper walls of the furnace are resistant to deformations.
  • The hob burner is removable. You can use cauldrons of different parameters.
  • Coating of all external surfaces - heat-resistant enamel.

smokehouse question

Do-it-yourself brick smokehouse is also often created. She is reliable and efficient. It can have different parameters, device and functionality. Huge variations are designed in the format of houses.

There are versions for cold smoking (HK) and hot smoking (HK). There are combinations. Under the GK, the TO position is under the smoking department. Products are processed with hot smoke. The average cooking time is 2.5 hours.

With HC, the focus is distant from the smoking chamber. Products are affected by cold smoke. Cooking time - up to a week.

The difference of methods is visible in the drawings:

You can develop the functionality of the device by combining it with a barbecue or barbecue.

The composition of any smoking apparatus:

  • It blew.
  • Chimney.
  • Smoking compartment (KO).
  • Doors.
  • Roof.
  • Lattices and bars with hooks.
  • Tray for fat accumulations.

Detailed scheme of the GK unit:

Training

A place is chosen. Safety criteria are met. The zone should be enough to organize a chimney. This area is thoroughly cleaned.

The necessary arsenal is provided:

  • The brick is fire resistant.
  • Elements for the composition: sand and cement. And the capacity for this process.
  • Clay.
  • Doors (made of wood).
  • Sackcloth.
  • Roof materials.
  • Corner.
  • Means for measurement.
  • Tools for masonry: spatula, trowel.

It is advisable to make drawings of the building in advance.

Foundation

Based on the parameters of the conceived smokehouse, markings are made using a cord and wooden stakes. For a small apparatus, a base depth of 40 cm is suitable. For a larger version - more than 50 +, reinforcement is carried out.

The base is poured with a cement-sand composition.

The base must be protected from moisture - cover it with a layer of suitable material, for example, roofing material.

Work on the chimney

A hole is created under it with the parameters: 50 (width), 30 (length) and 40 (depth) cm.

Its bottom is thoroughly rammed. Here lies a line of bricks on the clay composition. Two bricks are located along the length of the entire chimney. They mate with each other. The chimney tunnel is fenced on one side by TO, on the other - by KO. It rises from TO at angles of 7-9 degrees.

When creating a chimney, place the brick with an edge. Bandage all seams without differences. The height of the erection of the walls in the vertical direction is 25 cm. The ceiling on top is brick in the format of a house.

The layout is completed. The compound dries up. Then the chimney is covered with an earthen layer of 12-14 cm. It is limited by KO.

The chimney penetrates into the smoking compartment only 25-30 cm.

KO layout

This section may be in the form of a square, circle or rectangle. Usually he is given the following parameters: 100 x 100 cm. Height - 150 cm.

Masonry goes to the clay oven composition. Brick - on the edge.

Pins are screwed into the upper zone of the KO. They will be followed by the installation of a grate or rods with hooks for products.

At the bottom there should be fasteners for burlap. This is a smoke filter.

A removable fat tray is placed in the center.

On top of the KO you need to dig a lid. It controls the density of the smoke. If the project does not have a roof, you need to make holes for ventilation.

The KO frame is ready. Doors are being installed. Devices for arranging products are mounted

TO creation

His position is the opposite end of the chimney. The base material is dense sheet iron. Its parameters: 40 x 35 x 35 cm.

A blower is placed under TO. From the back or side, this department is connected to the KO. From the outside, it is sheathed with bricks. This is a decorative measure. And it's rain protection.

Conclusion

It is best to create a combination with a barbecue and a cauldron made of bricks. You can also purchase a ready-made metal apparatus, for example, a forged brazier. And from a brick, you can still build an effective smokehouse.

It is always nice to have an oven for cooking shish kebab, pilaf and fried meat in the garden. At the same time, I want it to be not only functional, but also beautiful. A brick construction will look especially impressive. You can fold it yourself.

The difference between barbecue and barbecue

Shish kebab is a favorite dish of Russians on vacation. The easiest way to fry a barbecue is to use a disposable barbecue and skewers. But it is much more convenient and civilized to do this in the country, in a more complex device created by one's own hands. All such devices - grill, barbecue, barbecue - are very helpful for the country cook, and differ only in some design features.

Grill, brazier and barbecue are designed for frying meat, poultry, fish, vegetables and mushrooms on charcoal. They differ only in the complexity of the design and additional features.

Brazier

This is the simplest frying device: a rectangular metal box with legs without a grill for coals. Smoldering coals lie right at the bottom of the brazier, and the heat from them is directed from the bottom up. On the top of the side walls there are notches for skewers, and in the lower part there is a perforation to create traction. It is often collapsible and does not have a lid. It is easiest to take it with you on a picnic or on a camping trip along with skewers or a grill.

Grill

The grill is different in that it has a charcoal grate and a lid that provides heat from all sides, not just from the bottom. But if you put it aside, the unit will work like a regular barbecue. In the grill, you can regulate the flow of air to the coals and the roasting product, for which dampers are made in the lower and upper parts. Sometimes he is equipped with an umbrella to collect falling embers. The lid is a very important item. First, the speed of cooking is increased; secondly, the finished dish turns out to be more stewed than fried, which means it is more healthy.

B-B-Q

There is still a lot of controversy about the word "barbecue". It seems that, nevertheless, the best interpretation is its origin from the French "barbe et queue" - "from beard to tail." Initially, not pieces were fried on the grill, but whole lambs or piglets. In Russian, this device received the gentle name "barbecue". A barbecue differs from a barbecue in that it has a more complex device. There, as in an oven, there is a grate for coal, which ensures good draft, and a grate for the product to be roasted. Like the brazier, the barbecue does not have a lid. This is a more complex and expensive device. Ready-made "mobile" barbecues are widely sold, which are a metal structure on high legs, often with a roof and additional folding shelves. They are inconvenient because in bad weather it is desirable to remove them from the site. In more expensive models, the distance between the grate for the product and the grate with coals can be changed, which allows you to adjust the intensity of the heat and makes cooking very easy. The heat in the barbecue is also directed from the bottom up.

But often the word "barbecue" refers to a large structure on the site, "garden fireplace." As a rule, it is built of brick or stone, with a solid roof and a table for preparation. Often a cauldron (cauldron) and a sink for washing meat and vegetables are inserted into the "garden fireplace".

General arrangement of a barbecue oven with a cauldron

A cauldron is a round cast iron cauldron. Aluminum cauldrons are undesirable, they burn out rather quickly and do not keep the correct temperature.

In a cauldron on the site, you can cook anything, but the best dishes are pilaf and kazan-kebab. It is difficult to cook them in an ordinary kitchen - the smells are too unpleasant and intense when the oil is calcined.

A brick oven with a cauldron is universal: if you remove the cauldron, you can fry a barbecue; if you try to evenly and accurately lay out the round under, then you can use it as a tandoor; if a round hole is covered with a cast-iron sheet with burners, they can be fried in pans and boiled in pots.

Photo gallery: examples of ready-made barbecue ovens

A barbecue oven can be built on an open veranda, after taking care of floor insulation You can build a roof over the barbecue complex, which will allow you to cook outdoors even in rainy weather The barbecue oven can be made in any shape and style. Country-style barbecue looks spectacular in the garden The barbecue oven can be made corner, it all depends on preferences A small outdoor stove can be very convenient and functional. A brick barbecue oven can be made with a natural stone finish The barbecue oven can be compact, with a small firebox

The barbecue oven can be folded with your own hands if you follow the order manual, or “order”.

What is "order"

The word has two meanings:

Photo gallery: ordering schemes

Before proceeding with the brickwork of the furnace, you need to draw a sketch of the future structure The stove under the cauldron can be made miniature, consisting of 13 rows of brickwork The most common model of a brick oven is a two-story structure with a compartment for storing firewood under the combustion chamber. The overlap under the cauldron can be placed directly under the exhaust chamber A brick oven can combine several functions: barbecue, smokehouse and barbecue

  • dimensions of the barbecue oven; if the structure is massive, it will need a foundation;
  • location;
  • the shape of the furnace compartment;
  • the shape and dimensions of the chimney;

Foundation preparation

Before proceeding with the brickwork, it is necessary to prepare the foundation for the future furnace.

  1. For the foundation, mark the desired area with pegs and thread with a margin of 1 meter on each side. Before the oven, the stock can be made much more.

The required area for the foundation can be marked with pegs and thread

  2. Dig a pit 30–50 cm deep. Considering the size and weight of the furnace, it is necessary to make not a strip foundation, but a slab.
  3. At the bottom of the pit, pour a layer of crushed stone or gravel about 10 cm high; compact the layer tightly.
  4. Reinforce the foundation with a lattice of metal rods to make it more reliable.
  5. Prepare a solution: 1 part of cement to 2 parts of sand, mix well, pour at once so that there are no cracks. Let the plate dry well.

The foundation must be poured in one step so that there are no cracks

The order of the brickwork

We put an ordinary brick on a mixture of clay and sand, since the cement mortar will not withstand the temperature. We try to maintain the width of the vertical and horizontal seams, respectively, 10 and 5 millimeters. When laying refractory bricks - 3 millimeters. Refractory bricks are placed on fireclay mortar (a heat-resistant mixture of fireclay powder and fireclay).

  1. Row one. We make three empty seams (indicated in blue) for inserting door frames into them - two cleaning and one blower.

In the first row of the furnace body, it is necessary to provide places for doors

  2. In the second row we lay those bricks on which the arch of the place for firewood should rest. Let's wait with the rest - it is impossible to lay them without doors, and the doors will interfere.

The second row of the hull is not yet fully laid out

  3. We make a support for the vault of plywood, which is called "circled".

"Kruzhalo" is made of plywood, bricks are laid out on it

  4. We lay out the arch in a circle. You can grind off bricks on one side, or you can make a semicircle due to the thickening of the mortar.

The shape of a semicircle for the woodcutter's arch can be achieved by thickening the solution

  5. We put the base of the firebox made of refractory bricks on the fireclay mixture.

The base of the firebox is laid out from refractory bricks

  6. We cover the firebox with figured refractory bricks, the first row. This is a blower chamber.

We cover the firebox with figured refractory bricks

  7. We lay the second row of the furnace node. It turns out a cylinder. Bricks are sawn from one side.

The second row of the furnace is reminiscent of Stonehenge, after which the furnace is named.

  8. We put the third row. Bricks also need to be sawn on one side.

In order for the bricks to form a cylinder shape when laying, they are filed on one side

  9. We pass with the help of sawn refractory bricks to the first row of lining.

The lining is also made from refractory bricks.

  10. We put the next, second, row of lining, carefully observing the proportions.

In the second row of lining, we try to carefully observe the proportions

  11. In the third row, we continue the lining, gradually forming a circle along the inner walls.

We continue the order, gradually forming a circle

  12. We build a ceiling under the cauldron using fireclay bricks. At the same time, we file the bricks on one side to get a circle.

The ceiling under the cauldron is constructed of refractory bricks

  13. We leave a gap of 1 centimeter between the lining and the body, since the refractory brick has a higher coefficient of expansion than the usual one.
  14. We wrap the refractory part with insulation for furnaces - this is foil basalt cardboard. Then a casing made of ordinary brick will not heat up, so there will be no large heat loss.

Insulation serves to insulate the firebox and control thermal expansion

  15. After the completion of the furnace, we lay the third row of the furnace, also from a brick cut in the form.

We begin to lay the third row of the furnace body after the completion of the furnace

  16. We put the fourth row of the furnace. We put the blower door, put the castle brick on top.

We complete the installation of the blower door, block its opening with a lock brick

  17. We put the fifth row, we install the furnace door in it.

In the fifth row, we begin the installation of the furnace door

  18. In the sixth row we create a horizontal smoke channel. Before overlapping, carefully clean the channel from debris, then line the bottom with a film so that you can then easily remove the “spitting” of the solution.

In the sixth row, we block the horizontal smoke channel

  19. Row seven. From bricks placed on edge, we begin to build the rear furnace part.

In the seventh row, we begin to lay the back of the firebox

  20. We put the eighth and ninth rows according to the order. In the ninth row, we close the opening of the furnace door with a lock brick.

In the ninth row of the body, we block the opening of the furnace door with a lock brick

  21. In the tenth row, with thin pieces of brick, we align the level of the vertical with the horizontal. We create the base of the brazier.

In the tenth row, with thin plates, we align the level of vertically standing bricks with ordinary

  22. We do not put the eleventh row completely. Pay attention to the rounded edges of the countertop. The top of the tabletop is polished.

To give an aesthetic appearance, the ends of the bricks that form the edges of the tabletop are rounded, and the upper layers of the bricks are polished.

  23. Next, under the future cauldron on the washed and sifted sand, we put a cast-iron stove. It should be flush with the bricks.

The slab must be flush with the surface of the bricks that form the countertop and perfectly horizontal.

  24. We form a brazier knot. We lay the perimeter of refractory bricks, lay it out with insulation.

The construction of the lining for the brazier begins from the perimeter of the hearth

  25. When the mortar hardens well, we put refractory bricks on dry, washed and seeded sand. The fact that they are not fixed with a solution helps to get rid of thermal deformation.

The absence of rigid fixation of hearth bricks with mortar contributes to their mobility and reduces the effect of thermal deformations on the design of the brazier

  26. From the twelfth to the fourteenth row we are laying the brazier, forming a pit for coals. Its depth should be 130-140 cm. Between 13 and 14, as well as 14 and 15 next to each other in fireclay bricks, we make grooves under the frame for attaching skewers.

If necessary, the depth of the barbecue pit can be reduced by dismantling the hearth bricks and adding a layer of sand under them

  27. In the fifteenth rad we complete the barbecue pit.

Between 13 and 14, as well as 14 and 15, next to each other in fireclay bricks, grooves are selected for the frame for attaching skewers

  28. We block the brazier and create a smoke prong - two arches made of refractory bricks. The base of the rear arch is two rows higher than the base of the front arch.
