Installing a balcony block with your own hands: types of blocks, correct measurements, installation features

A balcony block is a balcony door combined with a window opening onto the balcony. Installing a balcony block with your own hands does not seem like an impossible task and can be done by almost anyone, but to do this, you need to familiarize yourself with the theory.

In general, the main reason for such an installation is to reduce financial costs by about 15%, so the benefits of such independence are quite obvious. Now we will try to describe in detail the main stages of installing a balcony block.

Main parts of the window

Before you start installing the balcony block yourself, you need to check the availability of the main parts that you should have when purchasing. In addition to the window itself and the balcony door, these will be:

  • Mounting plates.
  • Mosquito net.
  • Mosquito net awnings and smoker handle.
  • Window sill with two plugs. One is installed on the balcony, and the second inside the apartment.

The material of the balcony block can be PVC, aluminum profile or modified wood. Aluminum profile looks beautiful, but it has problems with thermal insulation and is more expensive than PVC. Wood also has a high price. Therefore, we will focus on the PVC profile.

Types of balcony block

Before installing a plastic balcony block, you need to decide on its type. It comes in several types, let’s look at the main ones.

  1. Standard balcony block. Great option, installed on most balconies in our country. It is a large window without windows and a door next to it. The door can be opened and additionally tilted, forming a gap for ventilation, in the same way as the windows work on. The door is sealed with plastic at the bottom and glazed at the top. Inexpensive and very convenient option.
  2. Balcony block with insulation. Similar to the first option, only the window consists of two parts. The part of the window distant from the door is folding. The door is made with a swing opening and a folding one. This design provides good ventilation with a closed insulated balcony.
  3. Stalin's block. It is used in old Stalinist houses with small windows and narrow doors. The design is the same as in the standard block, only smaller sizes and with a tilting window. Although this option has smaller overall dimensions, it usually costs more than standard ones.
  4. Glazed block. It differs from the standard one in having a fully glazed door and a non-opening window to the floor.

Typical dimensions of balcony blocks

Before installation, you need to determine the dimensions of the balcony block. In most cases, they are standard not only for your region, but throughout the country. But before you go to order a window, you still need to take measurements.

The standard dimensions of a typical balcony block will be as follows. Window width - 1200 mm; height - 1400 mm. Door width - 700 mm; height - 2100 mm. If the sizes are standard, then the purchase will cost you less and delivery will be faster.

Measurements

To make independent measurements, you need to know the specifics of how to do it correctly. You definitely need to know that all measurements are taken on cleaned and prepared openings.

Note!

Before measurements, the openings are leveled, and the window sill must be removed.

Then you need to draw up a sketch, in which you need to make a reserve for anchors of 8 mm on each side. The dimensions that will need to be provided upon purchase are as follows: height of the window and balcony block; width of window, door and balcony block. The seller will adjust the remaining sizes by default.

Preparation for installation

Features of the sketch

If the measurements and installation are carried out independently, and you make the drawing yourself, then the measurement results must be correctly applied to it.

  1. The width of the window and door are indicated separately, and not from a common base, as in standard engineering drawings.
  2. When transferring measurements to the seller, do not forget to indicate which doors and windows should be made with a vent opening, hinged or solid. Otherwise, the seller will make the windows and doors blind.
  3. Please note that the door can be made not only with an upper slot, but also a lower one. This property will be very useful with an insulated balcony.

Dismantling the balcony block

Quite often, to increase the area of the room, the balcony block is completely destroyed. This operation carries the risk of damaging the supporting structure and therefore requires special permits. If you have all the permitting documents, then you can begin dismantling. To do this you need to know some rules.

  • You cannot move a battery installed in a window sill to the balcony. Otherwise, this will increase the load on the entire heating system of the house, which can lead to dire consequences.
  • After you have dismantled the balcony block, try not to completely connect the housing and the balcony. Install sliding doors or partitions between them.
  • You cannot disassemble the top of the balcony wall and increase the width of the opening.

Installation of a balcony block

Installation of the block is similar, however, with its own characteristics.

  1. When buying a balcony block, you need to choose anchors with a thickness of at least 2 mm.
  2. Before installation, mark places for screws on the door frame and wall, and then make holes using . They are marked 200 mm from the edges and along the remaining length, two more holes are made. In addition to self-tapping screws, the frame is secured to the wall with anchors and wedges.
  3. After the door frame is seated on the anchors, it is leveled using plastic wedges on the top and sides. They are knocked out using a hammer and a screwdriver. After this, the wedges remain in place.
  4. Then you need to attach a frame free of double-glazed windows and check it for distortions.
  5. We finally install the frame on the screws.
  6. We install frames and fittings. We check all mechanisms.
  7. We insert double-glazed windows and secure them to glazing beads. We hammer in the glazing beads with a rubber hammer. You can watch the installation of the door frame in more detail in the video.

Window sill installation

The installation of the balcony block is completed. They are not sold complete with windows and therefore must be purchased separately. You need to choose the right sizes.

Note!

The window sill should not cover more than 1/3 of the radiator, otherwise the circulation of heated air will be disrupted and it will not be able to distribute evenly throughout the room.

The window sill is cut to size and fits tightly to the bottom flange of the profile groove.

Window sill leveling

We align the window sill on a horizontal plane using. We put it under the bottom of the board. Then we install slats cut to size under the window sill and place a fairly heavy load.

This is necessary so that the window sill does not warp while blowing in the sealed foam. After this, we blow the foam into the groove of the backing profile. After it hardens, we blow the foam into the gap on all sides of the block.

We finish the work by installing slopes, cladding and other final operations, which in each case differ in quantity, but are standard in content. Thus, from the information above, you can see that installing a balcony block is quite complicated, but it is not feasible if you install it yourself.

Proper installation of a balcony block means preserving all its advantages and using all technical solutions, included in the design. When closed, the door and window allow light to pass through, but protect from dust, noise, low temperatures outside air.

Violation of the geometry of the valves will not allow the rubber seal to work fully. Gaps along the contour of the frame will compromise the insulation of the room.

Preparing for work

If such a service was not included in the manufacturing contract, installing a balcony block with your own hands will not be very difficult. However, it will require a responsible approach.

What needs to be prepared

Kiyanka

To install a balcony plastic block yourself, you need to use the following standard tools:

  • perforator;
  • drill;
  • rubber mallet (mallet);
  • electric jigsaw;
  • construction knife;
  • sealant gun;
  • measuring instrument (level, square, tape measure, pencil).

In order for the installed element to remain in a given plane until final fixation, you will need wooden wedges and dense foam. Subsequent fastening is carried out with anchor bolts and polyurethane foam.

The dimensions and weight of the product require you to install the balcony block yourself. For this you need at least one more assistant. Preferably with experience in performing similar work.

Completeness

The standard equipment of the balcony block will include the installation of the following elements:

  • door frame;
  • door leaf;
  • window frame;
  • window sash;
  • 2 connection plates;
  • threshold;
  • windowsill;
  • low tide (external);
  • mosquito net;
  • accessories.

Aluminum profile

The profile material from which windows, doors, and frames are made is a multi-chamber profile made of PVC, aluminum, or, less commonly, wood.

Plastic is chosen, as a rule, because of its low cost compared to wood and lower thermal conductivity than aluminum.

In most typical apartment buildings The standard size of balcony blocks is observed: door 2100x700 mm, window opening 1400x1200 mm. In private buildings, standard approaches to wall openings are not always followed.

You can check your option based on the number, thickness of elements, and area of rational glazing by referring to the standards. All requirements are specified in GOST 11214-86, GOST 23166-99.

Installation process

Before starting the installation of the balcony block, certain preparations are carried out, for this it is necessary:

  • remove the upper rods at the door, window; in the open position, remove them from the lower hinges;
  • bend the glazing bead inward, remove the double-glazed windows;
  • install fittings and brackets for mosquito nets on the frames;
  • glue the sealing tape along the outside;
  • drill holes for anchor bolts.In fastening to the wall, 3 sides of the tray are involved, in contact with the stone. The distance of the center of the drill from the corner is 20 cm on the longitudinal axis of the profile. Along the long side of the frame, 2 holes are added at equal intervals from each other.

Depending on the characteristics of the profile, it is necessary to take into account custom sizes balcony block, the holes cannot be closer to the edge 1.5 cm in width, 7 cm in length.

We install the block in parts

Installation of a balcony block in a panel house begins with connecting the door and window frames with connecting strips.

The one-piece structure is inserted into the prepared place, leveling it in a plane with wooden stands. Horizontality is checked with a level.

Be sure to measure the standard frame diagonals after all the spacers have been installed.

Drill through the finished holes in the perforator profile seats anchors Secure the result with bolts.

Hang the door and window in the reverse order of disassembly. Double-glazed windows are inserted into place. The bags are edged with glazing bead. To do this, use a rubber mallet, carefully tapping it correctly in the middle, after inserting the corners of the strip into the groove. For details on installing the balcony block, see this video:

Check the operation of all mechanisms

Check the operation of the doors and locks for opening and closing. They should have a smooth move, without rubbing or tight fit into the contour of the hole. The rubber seal is pressed evenly around the entire perimeter of the sash.

All that remains is to fill the gap between the outer perimeter of the balcony block and the walls with polyurethane foam. In this case, it is necessary to take into account the coefficient of its expansion so that there are no gaps left, and maintain a rational consumption of the cylinder. There is no need to fill more than 2/3 of the gap. The excess amount can be easily trimmed with a construction knife.

Do not open the door until the polyurethane foam has hardened for 24 hours.

Finishing touches

It will not be possible to fully install a balcony block without a window sill, low tide and slope design. It should take on a finished look. To learn how to install a balcony block according to GOST, watch this video:

These items can be purchased as a set or ordered from materials suitable for the design separately. Products are available from plastic, wood of different species, laminated boards, natural and artificial stone. For practical use, sometimes a window sill of the required size is cut out of kitchen countertops.

Installation is typical for standard plastic kits:

  • level, clean the base;
  • position the canvas on supports (wood, foam);
  • press evenly with a load;
  • blow out the voids with foam and let dry;
  • cover the foam with cement mortar;
  • install side plugs.

The following installation requirements apply to the window sill:

  • lateral tilt 5° towards the room;
  • should not cover the battery underneath by more than 1/3 of its width.

Plastic slopes are installed to match the balcony side or plastered with a building mixture, and then painted. Low tide is installed for unglazed balconies when the window is exposed to precipitation. Watch the final work after installing the balcony block in this video:

In the case of an insulated balcony, ventilation ducts are additionally equipped for air exchange with the room.

These can be breathing valves installed by the manufacturer of the plastic blocks, or you can independently install a fan at the top of the opening, punch a groove in the threshold at the bottom and install a damper on it.

Independent work requires careful execution of each step. You should not lose your attention or be lazy and take control measurements of the axes and diagonals before firmly fixing the element.

Balcony block is a structure that consists of a window and a balcony door. Balcony blocks are installed both in the kitchen and in individual rooms of the apartment. Most often they are made of PVC profiles, they can be aluminum, less often - wooden. Depending on the characteristics of the room, balcony blocks are standard or non-standard options.

The main stages of work when installing a balcony block

Wanting to save money, many take on installing the balcony block themselves. To be fair, it should be noted that there is really nothing complicated here. But there are a lot of nuances, ignorance or incorrect implementation of which leads to sad results. The leading characteristics of even a high-quality design are reduced to nothing. Of course, a professional will do this better than even the most persistent and meticulous amateur.

Installation of the balcony block proceeds according to the following scheme:

  • dismantling the old block. The opening sashes are removed from the hinges, the glass is removed from the blind sashes, the window sill is dismantled, the sills are removed, the frames are removed from the hinges, the slopes are dismantled, the insulation is removed;
  • preparation of window and door openings. Clearing debris, leveling surfaces;
  • connection between door and window frames. To do this, the moving parts are removed from the hinges, a connecting strip is placed between the door and window frames, a tunnel is drilled from the door side in the end part of the frame, fasteners are inserted and tightened, they are closed with plugs, and a sealing tape is glued around the perimeter;
  • alignment and fixation of the window-door unit in the opening. For this purpose, support blocks 110-120 mm long are used. They are placed under each vertical element of the balcony block;
  • fastening the frame structure to the wall using anchor plates and dowels;
  • making an assembly seam with the application of three main layers: central, internal and external;
  • installation of a window sill. The window sill is cut, aligned along the axes using support points, which can be wooden blocks, the space between the opening wall and the window sill is foamed;
  • setting the threshold. Concrete base is cleaned and leveled, support bars are installed, the supports are leveled horizontally, the threshold is laid, the space underneath is foamed, the joints are sealed.
  • finishing of slopes. The work depends on what material you want to finish the slopes with: plaster, plastic, drywall.

PVC profile for balcony blocks

What to pay attention to when installing a balcony block

The main points on which the quality of installing a balcony block largely depends:

  • installation exactly level and correct alignment of diagonals;
  • installation of all structural elements in one plane;
  • ensuring a gap between the frame and the quarter of at least 10 mm along the entire perimeter of the opening;
  • the installation gap between the frame and the openings at the top and sides must be at least 25 mm, and at the bottom - at least 30 mm.

The company "Windows Migom" produces balcony blocks from high-quality PVC and aluminum profiles from the world's leading companies: Deceuninck, Rehau, Schuco, Provedal and the domestic manufacturer SIAL. All of these brands are leaders in their field and produce modern, high-quality products with best characteristics heat and sound insulation. To produce and install our windows, we use fittings from the German brand Roto, which provide excellent technical and operational properties. From us you can order both standard and non-standard versions of balcony blocks.

Old balcony doors and windows are often the cause of low temperatures in the apartment. Installing a balcony block, which is a partition between the room and the balcony or loggia, will help eliminate this reason. After this, your apartment will not only become warmer, but will also look much better. After all, now balcony blocks are made from modern materials, which, in addition to excellent thermal insulation, also have high aesthetic qualities, so they will easily fit into any interior.

What is a balcony block?

The structure, consisting of a door and a window, and separating the balcony from the space of the room, is called a balcony block. It performs a unique protective function and can have different configurations. Most often this is one window, rigidly connected to the door on the right or left side. But other options are also possible, which we will discuss below. Manufacturers usually recommend their workers to carry out work on installing the balcony block. Naturally, this will increase the cost of repairs, which not every customer can afford. In principle, installation of such a structure can be done even by a non-specialist who knows how to hold tools firmly in his hands. If you do the installation yourself, savings can range from 20 to 40 percent of the cost of the window system.

To change or not to change

Before dismantling the old window unit with a balcony door, make sure your intentions are firm. Is it really necessary to replace the balcony block? Sometimes the quality of the old ones wooden products an order of magnitude higher than modern analogues. If oak or larch was used as the material, their service life can be very long. Although, of course, this depends on the operating conditions of the balcony block. For example, if the balcony is glazed and has high-quality waterproofing, and is also protected from temperature changes, the wood is preserved much better. It does not crack, rot or dry out. Then such a window and door balcony unit can simply be restored or given a new finish.

The wooden balcony block is designed in such a way that it allows you to easily remove the sashes and remove the glass. To remove old paint there are various ways. We recommend using a heat gun to soften the old finish. The peeling paint is removed with a steel brush, and then the wood is cleaned with sandpaper. Prepared frames can be painted or varnished. It is also worth replacing hinges, handles and other fittings. To exchange heat between the room and the balcony, you can install a fan in the window.

But if, after examining the old block, you realize that the game is not worth the candle, then you will have to change the balcony block to a new one. Dismantling of the old structure must be carried out carefully, dismantling all its parts to the ground. It is necessary to remove the sashes, frames, door frame and window sill, and get rid of the plaster from all sides of the opening to the main wall. If the wall is brick, the grooves of the window sill need to be cleaned using a chisel and hammer.

Types of balcony blocks

Having decided to install a new balcony block, you will have to complete a number of steps that separate you from the purchase. Consider the possible options for balcony blocks, decide on the size and accessories, and choose a reliable manufacturer. The following steps are very important to ensure that your purchase lasts as long as possible.

Material

For the manufacture of modern window blocks, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is most often used. This material has excellent performance characteristics, is durable, resistant to damage, does not require painting, provides good warmth and sound insulation. Manufacturers offer profiles with different numbers of chambers, which is important for external windows. If the balcony is glazed in compliance with thermal insulation requirements, then a simpler profile for the balcony block can be chosen. This will save money and will not affect its functionality.

Another option is aluminum profile. But it is not very suitable for a balcony block. Firstly, its price is much higher. And secondly, it has fairly poor thermal insulation. If the decoration of your apartment includes a lot of wooden elements, you can choose a wooden balcony block. A material such as modified wood will fit perfectly into the interior. This option will be the most expensive and not everyone will be able to afford it. As an alternative, you can consider a cheaper option - PVC with lamination to match the color of the wood.

Design

The standard balcony block in a panel house, which is the most economical, consists of a blind window and a door with a swing mechanism. The minimum number of profiles and moving elements makes this design affordable. The lower part of the door is usually covered with a sandwich panel.

A balcony block with a tilt-and-turn window will cost a little more. This combination of elements allows for good air exchange. If the window is large enough, it may have an additional blind part.

A novelty among balcony blocks is a French window, consisting of two sashes from floor to ceiling. This design can be found in modern houses, as well as in cottages. They allow you to fill the room with light and make the interior more stylish. However, to install such a block in an old house, it is necessary to cut down part of the wall, which is quite expensive and not always possible.

Also, recently, more and more often you can find a design that is suitable for wide openings, with an unusual name - Cheburashka balcony block. It has a door in the middle and windows on both sides.

How to take a measurement

When you already know which balcony block is best to install, before ordering it, you need to accurately measure the opening. If you have already decided on a manufacturer, check with its representative to see if they send a surveyor. Most manufacturers of PVC products provide a free measurement service. The problem may arise if your home is very far away. Then in some cases they ask you to prepay the order, which can cause difficulties if for some reason you change your mind. For example, if the size of your balcony is non-standard, the cost of manufacturing the block may turn out to be significantly higher than what you expected. In this case, the prepayment you made is unlikely to be returned to you. The best option, when the measurement is done free of charge and upon completion, the customer is given a full price list of the required services with the final price. Using this scheme, you can call several measurers from different companies and then choose the cheapest, but at the same time professional, among them. You can easily understand this by comparing the actions of the measurers.

If you take measurements yourself, try to make them with maximum accuracy. The opening must be carefully prepared and cleaned up to the main wall, including the place where the window sill was. All vertical and horizontal surfaces should be leveled using a building level. The angles between them should not deviate from the perpendicular. In case of deviations, all irregularities are smoothed out using cement-sand mortar.

All measurements must be put on the sketch, leaving a margin of 10 mm for anchors. Since the block is firmly attached on three sides, this will be quite enough. The width of the window should be marked separately from the width of the door. The method of opening all parts is indicated in the figure with special signs, showing which mechanism is installed - swing, tilt, double or a blind window without a mechanism, and the opening direction is also indicated. If you don't make the necessary marks, you risk getting a completely different block than you expected. If you are concerned about the issue of air exchange between the balcony and the room, discuss with the manufacturer the presence and number of air valves.

Check whether the delivery package includes a support profile to which the window sill and ebb are attached, as well as the window sill itself and the threshold. Make any necessary notes on the sketch as you see fit. Specify the material of the lower part of the door - sandwich panel or glass.

How much does a balcony block cost?

The price will depend on several parameters. First of all, you need to decide on the profile material, window type and opening mechanism. Of course, you also need to take into account the size of the balcony block, but now we will talk about a standard typical block, consisting of a door with one rotating window sash.

We would like to say right away that we are giving you an average price range in Moscow so that you can simply understand what amount you should generally focus on. In the provinces, as a rule, the cost is slightly cheaper, although prices can vary significantly between different companies. So, average cost balcony block is 15,000 rubles. The question remains: how much does it cost to install a balcony block if you decide to order it? Then you will have to pay about 10,000 rubles in addition to the stated amount. But many companies include in this amount the window sill, ebb, slopes and sometimes a mosquito net.

Often, manufacturing companies keep in stock a certain selection of already assembled balcony blocks with standard sizes, which are suitable for apartments with standard designs. If you are lucky and you find a block that suits your size, you will save some money, because such products are usually cheaper.

When buying a ready-made plastic balcony block, make sure that it is complete. Take measurements of the opening and the block itself, taking into account the false profile. When taking measurements, do not forget to leave a margin for the anchor plates. Having completed all the above points, made the necessary measurements and clarifications, you can order the selected balcony block.

Currently, the REHAU balcony block from a reliable German manufacturer is in greatest demand.

Air exchange

Since there is no heating devices, to maintain the temperature within the required limits during the cold season, sufficient heat exchange is required between the balcony and the adjacent room. The solution to this problem depends on the area of the balcony. The best way to deal with it is a built-in exhaust fan with lid. It is easy to install in the window wooden window. You can also drill holes in several rows in the door, masking them with mesh.

It is still not worth drilling a plastic profile. The PVC balcony block has earned popularity due to its tightness, but it is precisely this property that creates problems with air exchange in the room. If you ventilate by opening windows and doors, such an important characteristic as sound insulation is lost. Today, window system manufacturers have completely solved this problem by using air valves. They come in supply and ventilation types. Such a valve, while maintaining all the best properties of PVC products, creates a controlled air flow without creating drafts. Windows get rid of fogging and condensation without losing their visual appeal.

Preparation for installation

If installing a plastic balcony block with your own hands does not scare you, and you are determined to do this work, then follow our detailed instructions.

We are looking for an assistant

Before you start installing a new balcony block without the help of specialists, try to find yourself at least one assistant. The weight of the individual parts and the entire structure is quite large, and it will not be easy to handle alone. If we take into account the lifting of all parts to the floor, the time and effort spent on work for one person will be too great. Hired movers will require additional payment, with each floor being paid. If you want to save money, you will have to solve this problem without hiring paid labor.

When unloading the delivered balcony block, it wouldn’t hurt to have an extra pair of eyes so that during the lift into the apartment the number of parts does not decrease. And during installation it will be almost impossible to cope without help. In addition, when working with such large structures on the balcony, it is very important that there is someone nearby who can provide backup. That is, ideally you need two people: one to guard, and the second to first help carry the block and then install it.

Checking the package

Having received the ordered balcony block, check that all parts included in the delivery package are included. Separately check the threshold, window sill, ebb and slopes. Although they may not be included in the package, you will have to order them separately. Check the glass units and profile for damage that may have occurred during delivery. Make sure there are no cracks, scratches or chips. The door must be in the frame and the locking mechanism must be closed. The window sashes must be in the frame and also be closed.

We take the tools

To install a plastic balcony block with your own hands, you should prepare the following tools:

  • Hacksaw for metal and wood;
  • Jigsaw;
  • Drill;
  • Hammer;
  • Impact screwdriver;
  • Anchor bolts;
  • Rubber mallet and hammer;
  • Construction knife;
  • Sealant gun;
  • Level, tape measure, square;
  • Pencil.

Window preparation

The first step is to remove the sash. This is done like this: remove the rod of the upper hinge, open the locking mechanism of the sash and remove it from the lower hinge. When the window is blind, remove all the glazing beads, bending them with a knife to the inside, and pull out the double-glazed window. At this point you should be left with an empty frame. Cover it with sealing tape (PSUL) on the outside. If you want to hang a mosquito net on the window, then do not forget to secure the brackets first. Then, exactly in the center of the profile, drill holes in the frame for the anchor bolts. Start from the end and move towards the middle.

Make holes at a distance of no more than 1.5 cm from the corners and impost (partition) and about 7 cm between them. Minor deviations are allowed.

Preparing the door

When the window is ready for installation, all that remains is to prepare the door frame. In general, this process is almost identical, but there are a couple of nuances. For example, you should not make holes for anchor bolts at the junction of the door frame and window frame. Instead, to prevent air from blowing through the joints, apply sealing tape to the area of the door frame that will join the frame and attach the connecting profile. Do the same procedure with the window frame.

Now assemble the box and frame into a single unit. We can assume that the assembly of the balcony block is complete, and it’s time to proceed directly to the installation of the entire structure.

Installation of a balcony block

First you need to place the balcony block in the opening. To level the position of the frame, use stands under the vertical parts of the profile. Check the installation accuracy using a building level. Check from the side of the balcony that the profile is level with respect to the plane of the wall.

The next stage is attaching the balcony block. Take a hammer drill and drill the wall through the holes in the block profile that you have already made. Attach anchor bolts to them. Then you can install the doors, sashes and double-glazed windows back into the balcony block. To insert the beads into place, first insert the corners, then hammer the middle of the bead with a rubber mallet.

A necessary installation step is treating the joints with polyurethane foam. By sealing all the cracks with it, you create the necessary heat and moisture insulation. Remember that foam expands significantly, so fill the cavities 2/3 full. For such work, it is most convenient to use a foam gun; this will save time and get to the farthest corners. This material has excellent performance qualities, but is destroyed when exposed to sunlight. Therefore, it is important not to delay processing of the resulting seams for too long. It will be enough to cover them with paint.

The structure must be kept with the window and door sashes closed until the polyurethane foam has completely dried over the next 24 hours.

Window sill, ebb, threshold, slopes

Installing a window sill is an important step in replacing a balcony block. He will have to withstand various loads, temperature changes, sun rays and moisture. You can choose different materials for it - plastic, wood, MDF or a natural stone. It is mounted indoors at the bottom of the window opening. In the longitudinal direction it should be installed strictly horizontally, and in the transverse direction with a slope of 5 mm towards the room.

Easiest to install plastic window sill. Wooden pads are laid on the cleaned opening, and then the window sill itself. Before the next stage, a load is placed on it. The voids are filled with polyurethane foam, after which it hardens, the excess is removed with a knife. The ends are closed with plugs, after which you can remove the protective film from the window sill. Installing a window sill from other materials has a more complex technology and requires separate consideration. By the way, if your balcony is located next to the kitchen, then instead of a window sill, a countertop can be installed on a balcony block.

If we talk about low tide, then installing it on the balcony is not at all necessary, and if your balcony is insulated, then it is generally pointless. We have already told you how to make a balcony threshold.

The final stage will be finishing the balcony block, in particular its slopes. They can be plastered, finished with plasterboard or covered with plastic panels. The last option is, again, the simplest.

Video instruction

If some points remain unclear to you, then you can watch a video that clearly shows how to install a balcony block with your own hands.

If you carefully monitor the quality of work at all stages, then the new balcony block should stand perfectly level. The duration of its service and ease of use will depend on this. If the installation of the balcony block with your own hands is done correctly, there should be no friction between the frame and the sashes, as well as spontaneous closing of the sashes. We hope that our instructions will help you cope with this task.

The most common standard solution for a balcony block is a metal-plastic door structure along with windows facing the balcony. A single, aesthetically attractive, durable and easy-to-use system has long established itself as a reliable alternative to previously used wood structures.
