Databases for searching information about the participants in the World War II on the Internet. Databases for searching information about the participants of the Great Patriotic War on the Internet Participants of the Great Patriotic War: search by name, archive and awards

With the help of the Ministry of Defense Russian Federation an electronic bank "The feat of the people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945" was created. which is located at podvignaroda.mil.ru, where you can find information about the exploits and awards of your fathers, grandfathers and grandmothers by name and surname. The search is based on military archival documents that have been digitized and entered into the site database.

How and where to look?

The site “The Feat of the People” is the most complete and up-to-date database on the participants of the Great Patriotic War- there is information about almost all the warriors. At the first stage of digitization from 2010 to 2015, 30 million entries were made for awarding orders and medals "For Courage" and "For Military Merit", as well as information on 22 million Orders of the Patriotic War I and II degrees for the 40th anniversary of the Victory, and also 200 thousand archival files with a total volume of 100 million sheets!

Such a huge amount of work has been done for the main goal of the project:

The main goals of the project are to perpetuate the memory of all the heroes of the Victory, regardless of the rank, the scale of the feat, the status of the award, the military-patriotic education of young people on the example of the military exploits of their fathers, as well as creation of a factual basis to counter attempts to falsify the history of the War.

There are 3 main search options:

  1. Search for people and their awards
  2. Search for decrees and orders for awards
  3. Finding data by place and time

To find a person, use the first search option, to do this, open the site http://podvignaroda.mil.ru/ and go to the "People and Awards" tab and enter the last name and first name of the person whose awards you want to find.

To search for decrees and data on the place of hostilities, we recommend using another site - "Memory of the People", which will be discussed below.

If you want to search by the number of the award, then this will not work, because award numbers are not indicated in the award documents.

If information about the fate of a person is not known, then the site "Feat of the People" will not suit you, because. it does not contain data on the dead or missing. Such information should be searched on the website www.obd-memorial.ru, trying different spellings of surnames and first names. wartime documents could contain errors in full name or date of birth.

Recall that the initiator of this project is the Department of Development of Information and Telecommunication Technologies of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, and technical support is provided by ELAR. Thank you for this site!

Information is taken from two funds: the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (CA MO) and the Central Naval Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (TsVMA).

Memory of the people

Later, a more modern site was opened https://pamyat-naroda.ru/ "Memory of the People" with documents from the Second World War, which has a more pleasant design and, most importantly, more information, maps and historical data.

With the help of the “Memory of the People” portal, it has become even easier to restore the military path of your grandfather, to find documents about injuries and awards.

The Memory of the People project was implemented in accordance with the decision of the Russian Organizing Committee Victory of July 2013, supported by the order of the President and the Decree of the Government of Russia in 2014. The project provides for the publication on the Internet of archival documents and documents on the losses and awards of soldiers and officers of the First World War, the development of the projects previously implemented by the Russian Ministry of Defense on the Second World War OBD Memorial and the Feat of the People into one project - the Memory of the People.

On the page https://pamyat-naroda.ru/ops/ you can find plans for 226 operations with detailed diagrams on the map. Each page about the operation contains the names of the commanders and numbers of military units, as well as a description of the result of the operation.

Nikolai Vladimirovich Stefanovich was born on January 6, 1912 in the family of an employee, Vladimir Mitrofanovich Stefanovich (d. 1916). Mother, Olga Petrovna (d. 1947), was a teacher. The family also had three daughters. After leaving school, the poet studied at the Higher Literary Courses in Moscow, before they were closed and dispersed, he managed to complete 3 courses. He studied on the course together with the future director of the House-Museum F.I. Tyutchev in Muranov K.V. Pigarev. Already in his youth, Tyutchev's work had a great influence on him, Stefanovich devoted research to him, on the basis of love for him, he met the famous poet and literary critic G.I. Chulkov. After the courses were closed, Nikolai Vladimirovich entered the Shchukin Theater School, and after graduating, he worked at the Vakhtangov Theater for eight years before the war.

I cannot but mention the sad episode in the life of Stefanovich, which was widely disseminated by the literary critic Vitaly Shentalinsky, who published the book Denunciation of Socrates in 2001. In the chapter dedicated to the fate of M.A. Voloshin, the author, along with other things, devotes several pages to the court case of the Christian poetess Natalia Anufrieva and the mathematician Daniil Zhukovsky, who were arrested in Moscow in the summer of 1936. He also writes that the arrest of the latter occurred on the basis of a denunciation by Nikolai Stefanovich. Without whitewashing Stefanovich, I still want to say that not everything is completely clear with the details of this case. Most likely, it was not a denunciation, but a confession knocked out of the poet during the investigation. The poet was close friends with Anufrieva and Zhukovsky for several years, it was a circle of young truth seekers and Christian-minded intellectuals. And they met, most likely, through Chulkov, since Zhukovsky was married to his sister last Anna. I think that someone else wrote the denunciation. Another person appeared in the case, a classmate of Daniil Zhukovsky in the Mathematics Department of Moscow State University, who was relieved of any responsibility and did not appear in the case anymore. Stefanovich was apparently blackmailed by his family into appearing as a witness at the trial of Zhukovsky and Anufriyeva in April 1937. From the transferred pressure, he fell seriously ill, and later experienced deep mental anguish from the fact that he could not show the proper measure of stamina. Here I can only recall the gospel truth as old as the world - "Judge not, lest you be judged." It is not at all the business of poets to defend their convictions, proving their case in the office of NKVD investigators. Their job is to write good poetry.

In 1941, a bomb hit the theater where Stefanovich was on duty. The poet was seriously wounded and became disabled for life, having received the 1st group of disability.

In the same year, he, along with the theater, left for evacuation to Perm. After returning to Moscow, for some time he continued to work in the theater. Soon he met B.N. Slutsky, who really liked the poems and translations of Stefanovich. Slutsky recommended him for admission to the section of translators at the State Publishing House, and until the end of his days, Nikolai Vladimirovich was professionally engaged in translations: primarily of Eastern poets, in particular Rabindranath Tagore, as well as translations from East Slavic languages. Stefanovich himself knew the languages of the peoples of Yugoslavia quite well, since his father was a Serb. His translations were actively published, many of them were published on the pages of the journal "Foreign Literature".

The poet died on April 14, 1979, and was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery in Moscow. Stefanovich's original work was practically not published during his lifetime. With the mediation of Slutsky, 3 small publications were published in the anthology "Day of Poetry". This was connected, of course, with their religious content. Only in the perestroika years did publications appear on the pages of Ogonyok, Rural Youth, Novy Mir, Smena, and other publications. Some of these publications were directly related to the author of this preface.

Poet: | | .

IN MEMORY OF THE FATHER

You left me like a legacy

Expected to repeat forever?

The world shone, moved apart and raised,
Giving place to your inventions,

***
How unmistakable and accurate
When they bomb for a week,
Pressing against the drainpipe,
Suddenly you know God!
Houses are slanting from horror,
Chills and fainting itching,
And slippery fingers...
- Russia!
Do you hear the angels sing?

***
Lost teases you
And you are sad, dumbfounded,
When they sing for this holiday
All the same festive tune.
Then you grew up, now you grew up
Now you're exhausted and yet
Every time you enter the kliros,
You are walking towards the past.
Your interrupted childhood
Stop at the Royal Doors -
After all, there is no other way in the world,
To bring him back.

***
Oh Russia, like Job in the Bible,
You are naked to the bone,
And the bottomless abyss of death
In every puddle yours shines.

Both people and angels have changed,
They desecrate and hit in the face ...
So, according to the gospel,
The prodigal son returned to his father.

***
O separation of Alpha and Omega!
In vain and unrestrained again
All night in the steppe a forgotten cart
Shafts will stretch to the stars.

And the bewitched stars listen,
What are the frogs called in a singsong voice,
And at that hour they will fall to the ground,
I could not endure the separation of the evil.

All times will merge, won't they?
Behold the trumpet voice, resounding in the midst,
Will connect the worlds, spaces, distances
And what was, with what is ahead.

Hey, Lord, come! We're so tired
We are waiting for you. - Hey, Lord, come!

***
Sunset field. How gentle and quiet it is here!
Grasshoppers tick dreamily in the grass.
And if we multiply grass for eternity,
They will be designated by the name of God;
The earth receded and only remained
And I pray to God, a simple man:
"Oh, if only it could stay that way forever!"
But this moment is fading away
And the whole sky is covered with the pain of separation.

***
Everyone who has suffered, got sick,
All losing to the end -
Knows that this death
The Father was not in the house.

All those squandered clean
Gloomy covered in darkness,
Help out children's quality -
Thirst to return home.

***
Not everyone can take this moment.
And I got to experience it:
It is full of longing, scorching thirst
And eternity, solemn to tears, -
That eternity that one day
Christ compared with a grain of mustard.

***
From these walls. from gossip and insults
Somewhere to hide even in a dream.
After all, the whole day without restraint is sick
Swollen, cold palate.

The shabby garden was overgrown with unconsciousness.
Chills and itching. At the wet shed
The rough noise of shabby birches,
Leaky yard and oblique street.

And this is the land that Christ
I wanted to save, resurrecting from the dead.

***
I am seized with unbearable horror,
Shapeless and black as a failure
Just because your baptismal cross
I accidentally lost today.

After all, there is no God and the devils are invented,
And the angels are not visible in the sky,
And the cross is gone. And so, with death
I was left completely alone.

***
It seemed to distort the soul,
And the load is terrible, and there is no way,
But the cross flashed over the old church,
Almost invisible in the dark.
And above the church fence
Big clouds are flying
And inspiring suddenly and rejoicing,
And the heavy burden is light...

MORNING

Now there is not a single board in the fences
You will not call it still a board
And you will not take away the baptized hand -
So the morning streets are easy
And the sky is Orthodox.

Know God, clear through and through,
While portfolios, theses and books,
Until things close
His face revealed too much.

***
Now I'm weak and old
But as in childhood - by the balcony
A thoughtful mosquito hung
On the thread of your own ringing.

And also everything to the smallest detail,
To every crack on the saucer...
When I hear: "Boy! Hey!" -
I can't help but look back.

***
The board will swing - we fly
Towards the sky, roofs, pines...
The bike was tricycle
And the garden is huge and dense.

I came, distorting the soul,
To the last edge, to the border,
But I enter early childhood,
How to enter the festive church.

***
Lord! The beginning of all beginnings!
Was it a moment
Whenever I bothered you
Am I endlessly sad?

Only once was the evening - full of strength,
So transparent and good
And I thanked you
Laughing and clapping...

To remove heavy guilt
My sins, deceptions, nonsense -
I'll start right there
When I come to judgment for the last time.

***
The leaves will rustle and recoil,
The trees are closing in tight...
Where does this temperament come from?
At the stars, mignonettes, poplars?

Mysterious herbs and leaves.
Everything froze, the rustle subsided,
And I feel - here is the Eucharist,
And I hear: Yours from Yours...

***
June night insinuating bliss,
Once upon a time in childhood heard a melody.
In the foggy steppe the cart prays,
Shafted up to the starry sky.

And about the one who seemed to be gone -
I understood here in the mowed meadow,
That each one so He moves the planet,
Like I can't even move an eyebrow.

Everything is magical: bushes, straw, stone
And the blood pounding in my temple
And "Our Father" sung by crickets
In a language incomprehensible to people.

Frosty, windy and bare,
In all worlds, in any region
Holy memory, Nikola,
Today they celebrate yours.

And in this hour of praise and glory,
By the light of a melting candle,
How to become not dark, not crafty,
How not to die - teach.

PRODIGAL SON

And he told them the following parable...
Luke 15:3

1
In the blue and dense garden
How you want to live without end
When through shaggy boughs
Father's smile breaks through.

And now the air is healing,
And the paths are bright,
And your constant prayer
Grasshoppers sing in the grass.

A boy tarry thickets
With a run, he inhales sobbing,
And the light that comes from the father,
In the soul, as in a lamp, it burns.
And, clenching my heart with my hands,
He is ready to cry from happiness...

After all, this is both now and forever,
After all, this is forever and ever.

2
Father unrestrained and generous
And all day and all night
All myself to water and wind,
Gives flowers and herbs.

And those butterflies and bees
And these branches are the substance -
Only the embodiment of cheerful thoughts
And his various inventions.

But at once containing everything,
He himself does not know the orbits,
And only his shadow is big
Sometimes it glides through the green.

3
Children's clothes are tight and not in height,
And the boy rushes about, awkward and gloomy.
He thinks confusedly
and feels not only
Everything is random and random.
He loved the swing
but poor and fearless
Tethered flight
which is useless...
Now with some snail's step
All this seems to him.

4
Said to his father:
- I am sent down to myself.
Your bright house is still loving,
I'll leave anyway.
To become an adult now
I will separate myself from you today.
Maybe I'm awkward and naive
But I will find my own
limit…-
And he left. And a terrible gushed
shower,
And I didn't want to let go until morning.

5
In space cut and flat
Everything changed and flowed.
He stood in front of the kiosk
He touched the cloudy glass.
Then chaos broke in again -
Shaggy, tangled, thick…
And it was all accompanied
Some weird nausea.

6
Perhaps he is in battle, in a duel?
And I suddenly remembered clearly again,
Like a wheel on a sunny path
He tried to overtake his own shadow.

No, don't look, don't see, don't touch,
Close everything with a curtain of rain ...
After all, it's stupid to bite your elbow
Or bang your head against a wall.

7
The yard languishes, to dirty logs
Lowering the night sky.
Like a cloying sinful smell,
Like a stuffy wicked wind ...
And bedroom windows appear
And someone's feminine balcony
Where even the air is catarrhal
Where even the dusk is inflamed.
In the soul - as in the abyss, as in the well,
But he runs, swallowing the darkness,
And every house laughs at him
And they applaud him.

8
In the soul, the alarm is buzzing without respite ...
Who invented that the will is not strong?
Here is a boy crossing the street
But the old man and the old man's cough.

How mysterious and subtle everything is now:
Another invisible push -
And the truck will run over the child
And, like a candle, the old man will go out.

His fire, swift and stale,
Eternal death is melting in itself,
Slides like a knife at the vital aorta
Any destiny, any being.

And if he does not overcome temptation,
And if sin overcomes the soul,
That would be devilishly dangerous
For the old man, for the boy, for everyone.

9
Does the gray-haired old man die,
Or someone else will die, -
For nature, arithmetic is important:
She is neither cold nor hot.

And when from a fragrant dress
Grace will breathe golden, -
Someone will pay for this with their life
Someone suddenly stops breathing.

10
He's a madman and a neurasthenic...
Dawn again, losing shame
Empty streets will undress
The breaks of the stairs will expose.

And through the early morning collodion
He feels now
That someone again does not reduce him
Your glazed eyes.

11
Now go and don't look back...
How all houses and windows are symmetrical!
Just think: people are sleeping,
- Everything is as usual.

And then the damp dawn took him by surprise,
And it’s scary to look into the entrances and gates ...
Perhaps the truth at this moment
Did someone suddenly die?

12
Loneliness. Splashes and slush.
The rain stopped and poured again.
As if the sky tried not to cry
But she couldn't contain herself.

Like someone's big grievances
Became wind, fog, rain ...
Or is it a forgotten father
Does he remember his son?

13
The trumpet sings like a funeral march.
And dawn again...
He got a lot older that night
For hundreds of years.

Let the soul, in abscesses and growths,
Almost dead...
Everything is so easy, so infinitely simple.
Everything is tryn-grass.

14
Plants have become dry
And hardened like metal
When the father's holy name
He defiled and trampled.

The stars faded. Everything in the world
Suddenly seized with mortal fear,
And it was heard in the houses
Frightened children scream.

15
Medicines don't save people
A terrible disease rages
And the black kingdom of hunger,
Like the sea, raging around.

Corpses are scattered everywhere.
He's ashamed and scared...
Knock on the window to anyone,
Just not to be alone?

16
Sometimes the look is almost random
Almost means nothing.
Isn't it the owner
Did you look at it for the first time?

Above the dark brick outbuilding
Blue sky streak...
He looked at him a second time
And they were very symmetrical
His transparent eyes.

17
And he said: - You are a brave fellow,
You spit on duty and shame.
Feed my pigs, perhaps ...
After all, your father act naughty
You will never be forgiven.

And he grazes in the damp lowlands
Pigs of his lord, -
He became completely see-through and blue,
And triumphant pigs
They look at him with a smile.

18
How the blade cuts
In the temples and in the chest,
And tears and gnashing
Still ahead.

And somewhere in excess
Cooking for him
brutal torture
And eternal darkness.

Nobody is pissed off
Stronger than father...
To torment and screams
There will be no end.

But thunders and executions
He is not afraid:
They are safer
Other silence.

And great horror
Ready to hide
And in groans, and in cries,
And in gnashing of teeth.

Into the impenetrable darkness
And more - where?
Death is fine.
And that's it. And the coven.

19
Looking for shorter roads
Wandering with a bitten lip
And he repeats: - how, father,
Will I appear before you?

He is ready for a harsh retribution,
But suddenly, through the morning expanse,
Father chaotic embrace
Spread out towards him.

20
No reproaches, no anger, no rage.
Clouds embrace him
And father through the hot thickets
Gives his jubilation.

The shell is simple and rough
Doesn't interfere with anything
And the trees rustle like banners,
Rushing towards him.

And it sparkles all the hotter, more solemnly
Opened eternity blue ...
This is life's second coming
It's a holiday holiday. Amen.

*
Almost bordering on fantasy
Contrary to plausibility, -
Such a parable lives for centuries,
Creation older than Luke.

Or maybe this is not heresy,
That light, invisible just like that,
We only understand through
Blasphemy, unconsciousness and darkness?

Let the universe freeze
And turn into steam through, -
To save everything, about the prodigal son
One chapter is enough.

About Man: Evgeny Yevtushenko about Nikolai Stefanovich

Nikolai Vladimirovich STEFANOVICH (1912-1979)- poet: | | .

From the anthology of Evgeny Yevtushenko "Ten centuries of Russian poetry"

Once, in the early sixties, I found at Boris Slutsky a lean, reserved man about the age of my father. The stranger looked at me with curious curiosity, but did not even try to be friendly. It felt like he wasn't up to it. On his face lay a clear shadow of some kind of internal pain. He was already leaving and introduced himself, pronouncing the name Stefanovich with an emphasis on "e", which was somewhat unusual.

Is he rehabilitated? I asked Slutsky.

No, - answered Boris, - he never sat. But back in 1937, as a witness, he testified at the trial against two of his friends and still cannot forgive himself. And people are too cruel: they don’t want to remember how these testimonies were knocked out. Not necessarily torture. After all, everyone has a family hostage. And his mother was alive and sisters ...

And what does he do?

In fact, he is an actor, he graduated from the Shchukin school, before the war he served in the Vakhtangov Theater. In 1941, during a raid, he was on duty on the roof of the theater and was wounded. He became an invalid of the first group. True, they left him in the theater, but only small roles were given. He works part-time, like Dezik Samoilov and I, with translations in Goslit. According to his father, he is a Serb and knows the language, he does without interlinear. He also writes his own poems, but he has never published them yet. When I read it, I was amazed. Such poets do not roll on the road. In any case, he is the author of one brilliant quatrain. Even if he did not write anything else, this would be enough to stay in poetry forever.

And Boris Abramovich read four lines, which I have often repeated since then. I hope my children and their children's children will repeat them. Here is this great quatrain, sounding more and more modern and sharper, when the fate of the entire globe depends on what happens even in the smallest countries:

Connects all a single lot:
Just twist your leg
And at the same moment in Addis Ababa
Someone screams in pain.

In the book Denunciation of Socrates (2001), Vitaly Shentalinsky, whom I deeply respect for his research into Stalin's atrocities, provides indisputable evidence of Stefanovich's collaboration with the NKVD, citing his detailed denunciation of the poets Natalya Anufrieva and Daniil Zhukovsky. But I cannot believe that the man who wrote so many kind and strong poems was a scammer of his own free will. Surely he was the victim of a merciless meat grinder, a cunning inquisitorial blackmail. I do not justify him, but I do not want to throw another stone at him: in my opinion, he punished himself most severely with the pangs of conscience. Perhaps, in his thoughts about everything that happened, he wrote his poetic confession dedicated to the “Memory of the Father”:

You left me like a legacy
Your hair is a cut strand.
But what about us toy childhood
Expected to repeat forever?

The world shone, moved apart and raised,
Giving place to your inventions,
And because I'm disgusting today,
Not only for me, but for both of us.
And because there is no limit to shame,
And because that's how it happened -
Suddenly turned gray in the locket
The brown strand of your hair.

As a deeply religious person, Nikolai Stefanovich lived with a sense of the impending Apocalypse. And the war unleashed by the Nazis was for him a harbinger of the Last Judgment:

Isn't that why it's so creepy
Isn't that why the tanks went mad
That the hour has come when the archangel
The graves can be opened.

Will we understand in fire and in smoke
Of today's war -
What other battles
Are we surrounded at this moment?

He became a tragic participant not only in this World War II, but also in that eternal endless war of good and evil, whose battlefield is every human soul.

In Stefanovich's poems, one can see a man who is entangled in the snares of lies and fear - a man forced to betray his friends, but in essence kind and gentle, not born a traitor, but broken by the shameless rapists of his own people. And was he alone in the sin imposed on him! But at least he repented, and far from everyone had the conscience for this ...

See how much sensitivity, gratitude and sorrow in the soul of this sufferer crippled by both wars:

Again the stars will tangle in the bushes,
Shaking leaves and dew from the branches.
Oh, whatever You, Lord, create now -
I am not going to amend anything.

You lit up the neighborhood in a new way,
You are all permeated through and through ...
And only the dead still rise
And that night it failed again.

And what crystal laconism in longing for the ideal:

It's time for the last sleep
Pitch darkness closes over me,

And turn into a cloud through
Houses, and days, and branches under the window, -
And I'm scared that the most earthly
I will lose - longing for the unearthly ...

Departing from life in purity of repentance, Nikolai Stefanovich could hope for our understanding and sympathy, for that same mercy, which, as you know, is higher than justice.

It so happened that one day the demon beguiled Slutsky as well. The inertial fear from Stalin's time, and even backed up by party affiliation, pushed him to the only shameful act in his life: to general meeting Moscow writers, he joined the rabid reproaches of Boris Pasternak. But, like Stefanovich, Slutsky subsequently openly admitted his tragic guilt:

Angelic, not automotive
I'm hit by a wing.

He subjected himself to seclusion, sentenced him to not writing poetry. Not everyone does this.

Both poets did not try to justify their guilt. They recognized it and redeemed it with self-punishment. Let's forgive them.

LET'S FORGIVE

When my mother came from the Lubyanka archive,
she was silent and did not quarrel with the past.
She buried her face in a pillow for a week.
And so she lay. The eyes did not look at the people.

And then she said:
“Don't go there.
There, all the signatures are not for black and fat.
Forgive my grandfather.
It's not even fear - it's pain signed.

Let's forgive those who survived interrogation nights,
when they pulled out their nails with pliers.
Let's forgive

having repented not in an ostentatious way, - in the most Christian style.

Let's forgive
all those who have not forgiven themselves,
thinking about his own conscience, not prestige.
Let's forgive

May souls not become like scorched deserts.

Let's forgive
all those who have not forgiven themselves.
Let's forgive them with simple, simple words,
but not in order to, again betraying, asking for forgiveness,
and not hinting that they will also forgive us in the future
for the fact that we raised new traitors with gentleness to cowards.
This will be what I want, Russia ...

  • Information on materials held by the tracing service of the International Red Cross
  • Request forms for search, evacuation and search of graves through the Center for Tracing and Information of the Russian Red Cross (

We have been keeping the memory of the Great War of the 20th century and its heroes for more than 70 years. We pass it on to our children and grandchildren, trying not to lose a single fact, surname. Almost every family was affected by this event, many fathers, brothers, husbands never returned. Today we can find information about them thanks to the hard work of employees of military archives, volunteers who devote their free time to searching for soldiers' graves. How to do this, how to find a WWII participant by last name, information about his awards, military ranks, place of death? We couldn't get around this important topic attention, we hope that we can help those who seek and want to find.

Losses in the Great Patriotic War

It is not known exactly how many people left us during this great human tragedy. After all, the counting did not begin immediately, only in 1980, with the advent of glasnost in the USSR, historians and politicians, archive workers were able to start official work. Until that time, there were scattered data that were profitable at that time.

  • After the celebration of Victory Day in 1945, JV Stalin declared that we had buried 7 million Soviet citizens. He spoke, in his opinion, about everyone, and about those who lay down during the battle, and about those who were taken prisoner by the German invaders. But he missed a lot, did not say about the rear staff, who stood from morning till night at the bench, falling dead from exhaustion. I forgot about the condemned saboteurs, traitors to the motherland, ordinary people who died in small villages and the blockade of Leningrad; the missing. Unfortunately, they can be listed for a long time.
  • Later L.I. Brezhnev provided other information, he reported 20 million dead.

Today, thanks to the deciphering of secret documents, search work, the figures are becoming real. Thus, you can see the following picture:

  • Combat losses received directly at the front during the battles are about 8,860,400 people.
  • Non-combat losses (from diseases, wounds, accidents) - 6,885,100 people.

However, these figures do not yet correspond to the full reality. War, and even such, is not only the destruction of the enemy at the cost of one's own life. These are broken families - unborn children. These are huge losses of the male population, thanks to which the balance necessary for good demographics will not be restored soon.

These are diseases, famine in the post-war years and death from it. This is the rebuilding of the country again, again in many ways, at the cost of people's lives. All of them also need to be taken into account when doing calculations. All of them are victims of a terrible human vanity, the name of which is war.

How to find a participant in the Great Patriotic War of 1941 - 1945 by last name?

There is no better memory for the stars of victory than the desire of future generations to know. The desire to keep information for others to avoid such repetition. How to find a WWII participant by last name, where to find possible data about grandfathers and great-grandfathers, fathers - participants in the battles, knowing their last name? Especially for this, there are now electronic storages, access to which everyone has.

  1. obd-memorial.ru - this contains official data containing reports of losses, funerals, trophy cards, as well as information about the rank, status (died, was killed or disappeared, where), scanned documents.
  2. moypolk.ru is a unique resource containing information about home front workers. The very ones without which we would not have heard important word"Victory". Thanks to this site, many have already been able to find or help find the lost.

The work of these resources is not only to search for great people, but also to collect information about them. If you have any, please let the administrators of these sites know about it. Thus, we will do a great common thing - we will preserve the memory and history.

Archive of the Ministry of Defense: search by the names of the participants in the Great Patriotic War

Another one - the main, central, largest project - https://archive.mil.ru/. The documents preserved there are mostly single and remained intact due to the fact that they were taken to the Orenburg region.

Over the years of work, the Central Asian staff has created an excellent reference apparatus showing the content of archival accumulations and funds. Now its goal is to provide people with access to possible documents by means of electronic computers. Thus, a website has been launched where you can try to find a military man who participated in the Second World War, knowing his last name. How to do it?

  • On the left side of the screen, find the "memory of the people" tab.
  • Enter his full name.
  • The program will give you the available information: date of birth, awards, scanned documents. Everything that is in the file cabinets for this person.
  • You can set the filter on the right by selecting only the sources you need. But it's better to choose all.
  • On this site, it is possible to see on the map the military operations, and the path of the unit in which the hero served.

This is a unique project in its essence. There is no longer such a volume of data collected and digitized from all existing and accessible sources: file cabinets, electronic memory books, documents of medical battalions and directories of command personnel. In truth, as long as such programs exist and the people who provide them, the memory of the people will be eternal.

If you didn't find it there right person, do not despair, there are other sources, maybe they are not so large-scale, but their information content does not become less from this. Who knows in which folder the information you need could be lying around.

The capabilities of the project allow you to select a person by name and region, even if he lives abroad.
