Owner reviews

Now that I understand after 3,200 km, the stability is excellent, it handles well in corners. At speed, the Jetta 6 moves like it's on rails. There is no noise. Not bad dynamics. Although they could have gotten more traction out of the 1.6.

The suspension is excellent, I mean the bumps of the pit - it swallows everything, even if there are 3 people behind. The steering wheel is a bit heavy when parking, which is unpleasant. The landing is peculiar, it took a long time to adjust, I’m 176 cm. The mirrors are negative, but tolerable - I’m used to it.

Shumka made me happy. The stove blows perfectly, the air conditioner cools perfectly - everything is evenly distributed. And now the unpleasant thing: the front panel, its right side, began to creak. There was a rattling sound in the right door when playing loud music. The noise of the air conditioner appeared while I was listening. It will be stressful - I’ll go and complain. The radio is fine.

Video review

The Volkswagen Jetta 6 surprises with its lack of sound insulation, and in cold weather it feels like the windshield and rear windows will burst—the tin rustles. After a month of operation, sounds from gas pipes began to break into the cabin. I'm not happy with the price of all the extras. For that kind of money, it’s better to take other models and not bother with customizing the car.

The interior is not thought out, all the little things should remain in your pocket, because... There is simply nowhere to put them. If something is lost in the cabin, it can be found by the sound of rattling. The only good thing is the consumption: on the highway 6-7l / city 7-9l per 100 km.

Andrey Lankov, drives a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta 1.4 (122 hp) manually.

The car runs great on the highway and the handling is excellent. In the city, when driving slowly, it handles bumps and holes harshly, with good ground clearance even when fully loaded. If there are two people sitting in the back, there is plenty of space, three people can sit too, but it’s better to have a child in the middle.

Russian assembly: the rear bumper is not aligned, the rubber bands on the door are loose. I tried to fold back and clean the driver's brush - it rests on the hood. To adjust the seats, you need to turn the wheel like in the VAZ 10s. Somehow the speakers in the doors suddenly went out, but they started working the next day (and there are only 4 of them, none at the back!). Stiff suspension - at low speed you can really feel it.

Alexander Kirichenko, drives a sedan Volkswagen Jetta 1.6 (105 horsepower) MT 2015.

Well-controlled, dynamic, beautiful, comfortable seats, convenient pedal assembly, good ground clearance and a fairly high seating position for a short person, readable and convenient multifunctional computer, gas mileage is visible in two variations, there is a sport mode, a large trunk, the gearbox shifts smoothly, without jerking , good standard alarm system.

When rolling and going over uneven surfaces, it makes sounds similar to the creaking of snow. They said the seals were most likely VAZ ones, the dealers never completely eliminated the creaking, the appearance of crickets is periodic (when you arrive at the dealer, the crickets hide).

For me personally, the suspension is a little harsh and the gas pedal is a little tight, but this is initially, at the start, then everything is fine, there are no other complaints so far. Yes, I completely forgot, gasoline consumption does not correspond to the indicated, on average 8.5 liters, in the city it’s 9 liters, on the highway 7.5 liters. The antenna is weak.

Elena Novikova, drives a Volkswagen Jetta 1.4 (122 hp) with a robot, 2014.

Where can I buy?

Spacious salon. Large trunk. Noise insulation is good. Ergonomics of the dashboard and interior. The quality of finishing is up to par (for the money).

Stiff suspension (but this manifests itself on uneven surfaces... and there should be no unevenness on the roads! It rides smoothly and confidently on a good road). The rear beam... I would like a lever, but that's another money. The response to the gas pedal is slow, but in D mode. S mode makes the Jetta more lively. There are no speakers in the rear.

Review of Volkswagen Jetta 1.6 (110 horsepower) automatic 2016

1. Appearance. The car is quite long and wide. It has an angular shape, especially at the front, so it looks very aggressive. From the rear, the car looks like an Audi, as well as a Passat, and the design is generally similar to all modern VAGs. The car looks stylish, neat and very strict, I like it. Let's just say it looks more expensive than it costs.

2. Salon. The interior of the restyled Jetta, in my opinion, is more stylish than that of the pre-restyling. Pretty simple. There are no frills, everything is in its place. neat and tidy. Again, a feeling of severity and restraint, as in appearance.

3. Engine. Engine 1.4 turbo 125 hp, 200 Nm at 1400-4000 rpm. The engine is new, installed on the Jetta since 2016, before that it had 122 horsepower. The motor is crazy! Rushing from the bottom to HURRAY!

4. Gearbox and clutch. I will say right away that the clutch is not very comfortable. It has a very long stroke, and it took me 2 months to get used to it. It is located close to the brake, that is, there is no particular convenience, you can only get used to it or come to terms with it. The gearbox strokes could be shorter, but they engage very clearly.

5. The brakes on the car are excellent. The sensitivity is excellent, ABS works well. No complaints!

6. The steering is cool and juicy. I want to steer and steer.

Review of Volkswagen Jetta 1.4 (125 hp) manual 2016.

Since I own a car very little, I will say that so far I am satisfied.

Engine: 1.6 and that says it all. Yes, he drives, yes, he accelerates, but in 5th and at a speed of 90 km/h - the pedal is to the floor when overtaking and... nothing happens! I understand that the automatic would have switched to 4th and stopped the set of revolutions, so almost all overtaking has to be done in 4th or having previously accelerated, so to speak “at speed”.

Suspension: something in between the cars I've used. The rear suspension is multi-link, noisy and often rattles at joints and small holes. The front is MacPherson, they say about it that it is unbreakable on this car, and, in fact, there is nothing to break there.

Interior: good looking, no frills. The material from which the pyramid itself is very pleasant to the touch, and the quality is somewhere between rubber and plastic. With a weight of 100 kg and a height of 193 cm, I easily set everything up and feel very comfortable. The seat is moved all the way back and does not interfere with passengers of average height sitting behind me.

Trunk: 510 liters, you can carry a corpse, I already tried, but just take off your shoes, otherwise you can scratch the bumper when loading))

Review of Volkswagen Jetta 1.6 (90 hp) manual 2017

31.08.2016

A large number of car enthusiasts choose the Volkswagen Jetta 5 because for a reasonable price you get a reliable car with good build quality and good equipment. But now let’s try to figure out how reliable the golf class sedan turned out to be, and whether this option is worth considering for purchase.

Advantages and disadvantages of a used Volkswagen Jetta

The fifth generation Jetta was produced from 2005 to 2010 in two modifications, sedan and station wagon; only sedan cars were officially sold in the CIS. As operating experience has shown, in general, the paintwork does not cause any special complaints, and the metal has good corrosion resistance, despite the fact that the body is completely galvanized weak spots were nevertheless identified. When inspecting the car, carefully inspect the sills, the lower part of the front fender in the door area and the lower part of the door, due to the fact that excess moisture accumulates under the mudguard, these parts begin to bloom, even small bugs will soon lead to big problems. The joint between the rear wheel arch and the bumper is also considered a weak point of the body; chips and then corrosion often appear at this junction.

Engines

During the life of the fifth generation Volkswagen Jetta, there were three gasoline engines and two turbodiesel engines:

  • Aspirated MPI 1.6 (102 and 115 hp)
  • Turbo engine TSI 1.4 (122 and 140 hp)
  • Two-liter engine FSI (150 hp) and TFSI (200 hp)
  • TDI volume 1.9 (105 hp) and 2 liters (140 hp)

Car enthusiasts are often confused by multiple letter designations power units, in fact they differ from each other by the presence or absence of a turbine, as well as the injection system. With the weakest engine of 102 horsepower, the timing belt roller often begins to howl at a mileage of 70–80 thousand km. If the previous owner filled the car with low-quality fuel, closer to 100,000 the fuel injectors will need to be replaced, it is worth noting that such repairs are not cheap. TSI and TFSI engines are high-tech and provide excellent dynamics and low fuel consumption; with intensive use, they can last 250 - 300 thousand km without problems. But if you plan to use the car infrequently or for short trips, then you should not consider a car with such an engine if you do not want to find out what a broken timing chain, burnt pistons, stuck rings and a stalling engine are.

Diesel engines have proven themselves to be reliable and easy-to-maintain units, and if they are fueled with good diesel fuel, they will serve you faithfully for 300 - 350 thousand km. If you want to buy a car with a two-liter diesel engine, then consider a car after 2008, since before that time injectors with a pump were installed, which often fail, and their replacement and repair are not cheap; after 2008, the manufacturer eliminated this problem.

Transmission

Three types of gearboxes are available on the Volkswagen Jetta: five and six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and DSG robotic gearbox. Robotic DSG boxes are often called a sore spot for Volkswagen and Skoda cars; indeed, the robot may not start working correctly after a mileage of 50,000 km. When driving in traffic jams, the service life of the DSG transmission is significantly reduced, so if you plan to buy a car with a robotic transmission, avoid cars that were used in a metropolis (repairing a robotic transmission will cost approximately 1000 USD).

A six-speed automatic transmission with a mileage of 150,000 km may experience jerking when engaging reverse gear (the valve block needs to be replaced, repairs will cost about $500). In a manual transmission, after a mileage of 100,000 km, the clutch and release bearing will need to be replaced; also, at this mileage, the input shaft bearing often fails.

Volkswagen Jetta suspension

Although the Volkswagen Jetta is built on the same platform, it has different chassis settings. The car’s suspension is quite soft, but at the same time the car confidently holds the given trajectory, and if you don’t get carried away with driving on a bad road at high speed, the first repair will be needed after 50,000 km. The suspension can be safely called quite reliable, and if instead of a multi-link a beam had been installed at the rear, then the suspension could safely be called very reliable, but the ride and handling would be completely different. The levers, both front and rear, cannot be called flimsy and if you carefully operate the car they will last more than 150,000 km, silent blocks, stabilizer struts, shock absorbers last up to 100,000 km, brake pads last 70 - 80 thousand km, discs are almost twice as long. The steering rack does not have a long life and can start knocking after a mileage of 100,000 km; this problem is often corrected by tightening it.

Salon

Thanks to good quality finishing materials, even after many years of operation, the interior of the Volkswagen Jetta does not irritate drivers and passengers with extraneous knocking and creaking. Occasionally there are specimens in which crickets appear in the dashboard during the cold season, but as soon as the interior warms up a little, they disappear. The accelerator pedal here has a floor-mounted design, so you shouldn’t skimp on branded floor mats, otherwise water will seep under the pedal.

Result:

The Volkswagen Jetta is a quiet family car; the car was also quite often purchased for corporate parking lots. If we consider buying such a car on the secondary market, then the most the best option there will be a car with a naturally aspirated 1.6 engine paired with an automatic transmission or manual.

Advantages:

  • Galvanized body.
  • Convenient and comfortable fit.
  • Moderately stiff suspension.
  • Quality finishing materials salon
  • Affordable price.

Flaws:

  • Robotic transmission.
  • The thresholds are rotting.
  • Problems with the chassis after 80-90 thousand km.

If you are or were the owner of this car brand, please share your experience, indicating the strengths and weaknesses of the car. Perhaps your review will help others choose the right used car.

We all know very well that for 35 long years, the Volkswagen concern has been regularly considered a leader in the automobile industry, thanks to proven technologies and proven power units. However, there is no limit to perfection and car owners, having the opportunity to experience a little more comfort or a little more quality, strive to get this from every representative of the car market. Therefore, today, quite often, developers listen to criticism and objective comments addressed to them so that in the future they eliminate existing shortcomings, and this fate befell the authors of the Volkswagen Jetta.

For some, the angle taken will be a complete surprise, since we are accustomed to quite often describing the advantages of a car, but now it’s the turn to turn our attention to the disadvantages of the Volkswagen Jetta. As a result of this approach, potential buyers of this model will be presented with a more objective picture of what can be obtained by paying a certain amount. Well, it’s up to you to judge how the price corresponds to the quality.

Main shortcomings and malfunctions

  • Despite the fact that the Volkswagen Jetta is a German car, its suspension design is not at all designed for use on Russian roads. It is considered weak, and the anti-roll bar installed on it becomes loose over time and a characteristic knock appears.
  • Problems with rear pads jamming often arise due to design features rear wheel drive.
  • At times, the power steering sensor fails, and the tachometer needle stops falling below 1000 rpm.
  • Some users of this German car complain about the design of the side windows. Due to the fact that cheap plastic was used in the production of the holder, there is a possibility of it breaking in frosty weather. In winter you need to be very careful when opening the windows.
  • The timing belt requires special attention from the driver. Due to the poor location of the valves, when the belt breaks, they bend and the engine fails, so the car owner must carefully monitor and promptly carry out technical inspection and replacement of this part.
  • Many problems are caused by manual transmissions installed on Jetta models with 1.6 and 1.4 liter engines. When the mileage exceeds 100 thousand km, the planetary pair fastening rivets begin to fly out and can get into the gear connection and cause gear failure. This risks replacing the box or overhauling it.
  • Frequent failure of the engine temperature sensor can cause problems with overheating, unstable operation and increased fuel consumption.
  • Disadvantages have also been noticed when using a car for a long time on fuel that is not of particularly high quality, since the Volkswagen Jetta throttle valve becomes dirty and it starts to start poorly “in cold weather” or stalls when the air conditioner is started. If these problems occur, it is necessary to clean the fuel system and adjust the throttle valve.

As a result of all the above shortcomings, the expectations of German fans are not justified, and the overall impression of the Volkswagen Jetta becomes a little spoiled. However, no manufacturer is immune from this, even if it has many years of experience and highly qualified specialists. Thus, as the Jetta example shows, even the most professional approach to car development does not guarantee an ideal option.

    Jetta V 117,000 mileage.
I don’t have any of these shortcomings

Jetta 2011 mileage 46,000 km. The rear suspension creaked, like on an old cart. It’s a shame to even go into the courtyard of a house. The car is Mexican-assembled, apparently not for Russian roads. Disappointed with Volkswagen. I'll go to the service center, find out the reason, and report back.

The purchase of the fifth Jetta was spontaneous. The amount was in hand after the sale of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. I was looking for a car for about a month, I couldn’t buy a Skoda Superb 2011, a Volvo S80 2010, an Opel Insignia 2009, I also thought about returning to a Saab or Mercedes in the 221st body. It was impossible to approach some options; others, as it turned out after inspection, were “on their knees.” Once at the market, while I was buying provisions with my wife, I went to a flea market and saw a 2010 Jetta, 1.6 BSE, with a 7-speed automatic transmission, in good configuration and immediately called the owner. A couple of hours later we were already driving the car onto the lift. A couple of days later I became the owner of a Volkswagen. The car turned out to be exactly the golden mean that was required in order not to be particularly perverted with costs, including for service stations.

Among the expenses after the purchase were: replacement of rear pads, rear hubs with bearings, refueling of the air conditioner, maintenance, rear caliper repair kit. At the moment, I also changed the windshield (a stone flew in on the highway), and ordered a Polish-made version for light and rain sensors.

As for the sensations and driving characteristics, I can compare the behavior of the Jetta with such cars as the BMW E36, E39, Saab 9-5, Chevrolet Cruze; these were the cars that once stood in my garage. So, a few observations: the suspension (multi-link at the rear, one lever/strut at the front, spring) is moderately soft, no complaints.

The steering, taking into account the year of operation, is also not something to complain about. The trunk volume is significant, about 530 liters. Noise insulation is excellent (the Cruze falls short). Music consists of 10 “tweeters” and an amplifier in the dashboard. I won’t say that it’s the best thing I’ve ever heard, but I can give it a four on a five-point scale. The head light is quite enough for me, as a person with not the best eyesight (on the Cruze, if not for the fog lights, I would have to drive with high beams).

Engine with a capacity of 102 hp. With. can be called a “log”, but in combination with an automatic transmission (there is also a “Sport” mode), the dynamics in the urban jungle are quite good. But on the track you shouldn’t compete with more powerful cars - it’s useless, and they didn’t install 1.6 BSE on the Jetta for these purposes.

The box is automatic. All previous cars had a manual transmission, I was tired of it, I wanted to try an automatic transmission, since 95% of my trips are around the city. I don't regret the choice. The Jetta is equipped with a seven-speed transmission and can be switched to manual mode (useful in winter or if you get stuck in a puddle). Previously, the wrong oil was poured into such boxes, and then some owners complained. The official dealer replaced it with something else on my car.

The ground clearance is, let's say, good. It overcomes curbs (of course, not the highest ones), the same Cruze even caught the lowering side with thresholds. The visibility from the driver's seat is excellent, not in the way side racks, you can see everything fine in the mirrors.

A few words about the salon. The seats are ordinary, with essentially no lateral support. But, oddly enough, on long trips the back does not get tired, that is, apparently, although it is budgetary, the structure of the seat is thought out, and it fits the human spine “correctly”. Minimum adjustments (tilt, forward/backward, up/down). I installed a refrigerator in the glove compartment myself. The door panels and dashboard are made of oak plastic, as well as the steering wheel. I wrapped the steering wheel in a cover - so softer on your hands and the girth is better. Previous cars had leather steering wheels, but here, of course, the downside is that they have leather and fabric inserts. “Dragonfly”, climate control, speedometer, tachometer, multimedia and other adjustments are accessible from the driver’s seat, thereby preventing distractions on the road. There is a full electrical package.

When purchasing, I noticed the separate climate control. The option is cool: one is blowing, and the other, on the contrary, is hot. The package also included light and rain sensors, heated mirrors, seats, and seat covers made of “young leatherette” leather (less dirt). I installed a multimedia system - an analogue of the WW 510 head. There is, in principle, everything: Navitel, DVD, MP3, Bluetooth, telephone, all types of USB flash drives. The display pleases with excellent color rendering, runs on the Android platform, the interface is similar to the original, and the equalizer is multi-level. In general, a good average.

The metal of the body is quite thick compared to budget cars. But no one is immune from chips; my car already has a couple in the area of the front pillars and driver’s door. Temporarily treated with a converter and spot painted. The nuisance is the iron around the license plate lamps. Apparently, water constantly collects there - swelling of the paint appears. This nuance was found on BMW, and Saab, and Chevrolet Cruze - it’s just a place prone to moisture collection.

In general, the body is not blooming, and this is pleasing. How long this will last (the car is now 5 years old) is unknown. The bodies are all galvanized, and if there are no accidents, I think it will last a long time.

Disputes about old metal on old “Germans” do not count: there are only a few complete cars, the rest have already been overcooked so that there is nothing to talk about. In any case, a fresh machine is better. The same applies to the technical part of the car as a whole.

Volkswagen Jetta 6 released Russian market in 2011. The sedan is technically very close to the sixth Golf. Both are built on the modernized PQ35 platform, which formed the basis of another fifth Golf.

Compared to the Golf VI, the length of the sedan is 90 mm longer, the wheelbase is 70 mm longer, and the A-pillars are moved back. Therefore, they do not have common body parts. Thanks to the successful layout, the rear is quite spacious. The trunk absorbs up to 510 liters of luggage. If this is not enough, you can fold down the rear seat.

At first, the Jetta was assembled in Mexico, and from April 2013 in Russia - at the facilities of the GAZ Group in Nizhny Novgorod.

A restyled version of the sedan went on sale in January 2015. In addition to cosmetic changes, the model received a package for bad roads, ESP, a blind spot monitoring system, a driver fatigue detection system and bi-xenon headlights.

The updated version of the 2015 VW Jetta has successfully passed the tests of the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The Jetta earned the honorary title of "Safest Car". The previous test was not so impressive. The result was improved after strengthening the front pillars and sills. In European tests EuroNCAP Jetta earned 5 stars.

Engines

Abroad, gasoline turbo engines of 1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI, 2.0 TSI, naturally aspirated gasoline engines with a capacity of 2.0 and 2.5 liters, as well as turbodiesels with a volume of 1.6 and 2.0 liters were found under the hood of the sedan.

In Russia, the Jetta VI was offered only with gasoline engines. The base version was a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder naturally aspirated engine with output of 85 and 105 hp. The turbo engine is also the same in two boost variants - 1.4 TSI / 122 and 150 hp.

Since the end of 2015, engines of the EA111 family have given way to engines of the EA211 series with a timing belt instead of a chain. The output of the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated engine increased to 90 and 110 hp, and the supercharged 1.4 – from 122 to 125 hp. The top modification retained its power at 150 hp.

The 1.6-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine is generally reliable. However, complaints about piston knocking are becoming more common. The problem is well known to Volkswagen owners Polo sedan with the same engine. To be fair, it is worth noting that a frightening knock is not a symptom of the imminent demise of the engine. Many long-distance drivers (taxi, etc.) have traveled over 200,000 km with this sound without major engine repairs. However, when contacting the official service center, the motor was changed. Later they issued a technical bulletin, which explained the reason for the knocking - carbon deposits that need to be removed.

The timing chain drive of 1.6-liter engines is reliable, but in the 1.4 TSI, “crackling in the morning” can appear after 100-120 thousand km. This is a symptom of a stretched chain. Replacement costs will be 20-30 thousand rubles.

In the 1.4 TSI, after 60-120 thousand km, the injection pump pusher often fails - a chattering sound appears. For an analogue they will ask for more than 1,000 rubles, and for an original - 2,500 rubles. Around the same time, the fuel pump in the tank may also give out (3-10 thousand rubles).

Owners of cars with 1.4 TSI also had to deal with replacing the turbine due to jamming of the actuator. The turbocharger is built into the exhaust manifold and costs almost 100,000 rubles (original). The repair kit is available for 26,000 rubles.

Perhaps the most unpleasant thing that can happen to the 1.4 TSI EA111 series is burnout or cracking of the pistons. There have been incidents. To install a new set of reinforced pistons you will need around 80-100 thousand rubles.

After 100,000 km, sometimes it was necessary to change the radiator fan due to ECU failure. The control unit comes complete with a large fan. The cost of the unit is from 6,000 rubles for an analogue and 15,000 rubles for an original.

The pump is a weak point in all engines. It may leak or make noise after 60-120 thousand km. Its cost is about 3-4 thousand rubles, but for the 1.4 TSI with 150 hp. a water pump will cost at least 8,000 rubles.

Common but not common problems include crankshaft oil seal fogging and leaking. Episodes were recorded in the range of 100-150 thousand km. The cost of elimination work is about 7,000 rubles.

In terms of oil consumption, there are no widespread problems. Only a few claim it.

The trademark rattling of fuel pipes still haunted the owners of the sixth Jetta. Fortunately, the disease only causes acoustic discomfort and can be easily eliminated.

Transmission

1.6 was combined with a 5-speed manual transmission, and 1.6 / 110 hp. also with a 6-speed automatic. The 1.4 TSI was paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG. Later, the 150-horsepower 1.4 TSI was combined exclusively with DSG 7.

The seven-speed DQ200 robot with a dry clutch is designed for torque up to 250 Nm. The box was constantly modernized and after 2014 the problems with it decreased - the clutch and mechatronics unit were redesigned. The DSG warranty is 5 years or 150,000 km. When replacing the clutch at your own expense, you will need 60-80 thousand rubles.

There were also problems with the manual transmission - the bearings wore out. Most often, the attack happened after 200-250 thousand km. For the bulkhead the service asked about 50,000 rubles.

Perhaps the most problem-free was the Aisin 09G automatic transmission. Only occasionally do we come across complaints about delays when switching from 1st to 2nd gear or a somewhat rough transition from 2nd to 3rd.

Chassis

Initially, in naturally aspirated 1.6 Jets, a torsion beam was installed at the rear, and in cars with a turbo engine, a multi-link. Since 2013, regardless of the engine, a multi-link scheme has come into use.

The Volkswagen Jetta 6 suspension is quite durable. However, a lot depends on the operating conditions. For some, it lasted more than 150,000 km until the first major repair. And others, without driving 100,000 km, changed shock absorbers, support bearings and silent blocks of the front levers. In Mexican-assembled cars, springs sometimes burst.

But the steering rack may begin to knock after 40-60 thousand km. Even after replacing the rack under warranty (120 thousand rubles), after some time the knocking may appear again. Services specializing in rack repair suggest changing the “crackers” or filling them with lubricant.

Other problems and malfunctions

There are no problems with the paintwork on the Jetta's body yet. The only thing that may disappoint is the chrome coating of the exterior decorative elements. From time to time, owners note fogging of the front optics or the appearance of small cracks in the glazing.

Some car owners complain about the howling of the air conditioning compressor (from 16,000 rubles for an analogue). When contacting an official service center, the compressor is usually replaced under warranty. But soon the howling returns again. Others do not pay any attention to the extraneous noise, and the compressor continues to work properly.

Often the wiring of the electrical harness laid along the left hinge of the trunk lid breaks. As a result, malfunctions occur in the operation of the rear lights and the lid lock.

There are also problems with the trunk lock itself, then, for example, the lid opens spontaneously. The disease is more often detected in winter. It's all about the button, under the elastic band of which moisture gets in. After drying the button, the lock's functionality is restored.

It happens that the heated driver's seat fails. You have to change the mat or control unit.

Sometimes there are “glitches” in the operation of the RCD-330G head unit - the camera stops working, or problems arise with the Bluetooth connection. Dealers, if problems are detected, update software or change the head unit.

After 4-5 years (usually in winter), the windshield wiper sometimes stops working. The reason is moisture ingress and freezing. At the same time, the lubricant loses its plasticity. A new motor can be purchased for 2,500 rubles.

Conclusion

What conclusions can be drawn? The pre-restyling Volkswagen Jetta with 1.4 TSI is not the best purchase. It is better to look for cars with engines of the new EA211 series, which appeared at the end of 2015. In any case, no systematic problems with these engines have yet been identified. At the same time, the number of calls to the service with questions about DSG also decreased. A universal option will be a sedan equipped with a 1.6-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine. True, you will have to pay for “reliability” in dynamics.
