Smooth starting device for a circular saw. Soft start on a hand-held circular saw

It seems to me that all powerful tools, especially those similar to machine tools, should have a soft start in the base, but it’s not clear why manufacturers save on this essentially cheap function.
Possibly - a decrease in reliability and an increase in calls to service centers - soft start units, judging by the reviews, sometimes burn out, but not so often that they can be easily found on sale - no demand - no supply.
I found the blocks delivered only in one place, as a spare part for a power tool of the HUMMER brand unknown to me, and the store catalog only indicated which tool they were intended for.
The Makita LC 1230 metal circular saw available in the workshop suits everyone, but at the start it kicks and eats so much that the light dims and, thinking that the circuit breaker from a grinder with a power of 2.2 kW should fit into any of my tools that need alteration, I ordered:
Soft start (46) USM2200B HAMMER

The entire modernization process was filmed:

“Parting words” for those who decide to repeat:

1. Perhaps the 2.2 kW block I used from an angle grinder is redundant for a 1.7 kW motor - select the nominal value, judging by the forums, using a larger power block increases the acceleration time of the engine.
2. It’s not difficult to disassemble the saw, but you don’t need the whole thing, just the part where the electronics are in the handle.
3. During disassembly, there will be 2 long bolts and one short one - the long ones in the holes above the engine, the short one in the hole next to the cable entry.
4. When the housing halves are separated, a plastic part of the safety mechanism and a pin with a hook for the chain can and most likely fall out.
5. After removing the button, it is better to seal the rest of the mechanism with mounting tape.
6. Immediately extend the red and black wires of the soft starter unit with 30 cm pieces of wire of the appropriate cross-section.

I crimped all the ends into ferrules, this is what the result looks like

The block fits well in the bottom of the handle above the engine

The button with the mechanism is larger, for those who still manage to scatter it

Here’s an incident that happened in the process, I laughed, took a bite and remade it, that’s why I don’t like ring crimps:

As a result, the block cost me 411 rubles + delivery, I took three pieces at once; I also need to put the block in a circular saw and an angle grinder, not expensive, simple and extremely pleasant modification, I recommend it.

Have a nice day everyone. Does anyone know how to destroy soft start on a saw? Directly speaking Interskol. I'm not very good at electrical engineering. It’s very necessary, you can’t work with this rubbish. Do-it-yourself stand for a hand-held circular saw. What needs to be pulled out there?

SergDemin nineteen May 2016

I wouldn't recommend it. A smooth start is not so much just a jerk in the hands, but an inrush of current at the moment of switching on. I have changed many rotors in power tools based on intra-winding breakage. And at that time they appear due to the surge of current. I'm where it's smooth start, in other words, the regulator is on the trigger. nor )textbook. And it’s easy to throw it away. wires from the motor directly to the switch. To be more precise, photos of the insides are necessary.

It’s worth throwing out a smooth start on a circular machine, not ushm/pshm.

In the sense that when the disk is inserted into the cut, it is not allowed to unwind? In other words, does it just take a long time to accelerate?

I have a 2kW fin, not a 200mm disc, without a smooth one, I need to hold it tighter when turning it on.

Worth throwing away smooth launch on a circular machine, not ushm/pshm. If you don't indulge in daydreaming, you need a lot of little cuts. Under such circumstances it can be infuriating. DIY table for a circular saw: drawing. I don't have it on my tape.

I have a personal Bosch without a soft start, our client is fine. Not before our client remains the workers were without him. They died from falls, cutting off gears to a greater extent. This accounts for the weirdos getting the job. When you press the button, nothing happens for the first second. When I first picked it up, I thought that there was no electricity. And it unwinds so slowly that you get tired of waiting, but have no time to wait. They were putting together two monoliths under the stairs and it was so infuriating that I wanted to slam into the corner. With my hands, what remains to be done for our client is in order, I can delay the shift with a chipper without smoking breaks. Saw blades for circular saws for wood. So saw with 100 ninety laps I’m not a competitor. Where a bunch of small cuts take half a day to unwind, we don’t even talk about stopping to change positions when cutting long materials. What remains for our client to do on the ground, not on his knees, continuous distortions. In its own cut it no longer unwinds. We don’t need precision, they don’t give us workbenches, working in extreme conditions, not palace delights for country craftsmen, spoils our blood beyond childishness. There was an angle grinder, like me, thank God it was covered, by the way, the winding burned out. I couldn’t make an eighty meter cut in concrete to its full depth)

There is also a spring on the casing, just like on the doors in Russian stores. She slides a sheet of twenty plywood with a casing until it begins to open. As annoying as it may sound, this problem is simply solved with the use of knitting wire.

We conclude that it’s a marvelous instrument, no matter how annoying it may sound, it’s made of oak, it’s not viable, and the bosses don’t really like the price.

I'll open it tomorrow and won't take a photo unless I figure it out myself. I was just wondering if someone had already encountered this and would still give a hint.

I was just wondering if someone has already encountered this and might give a hint. on grinders, when the soft start was covered, I threw it out, connected it indirectly, without any circuits, at random, it worked.

Lohus twenty May 2016

I did the same thing, no matter how annoying it may sound, after the jump tutorial I was very glad that I didn’t fix the casing. Now I just open it with my hand if necessary, it’s great that there is a special “ear” on the casing for this.

It is unclear why the manufacturer did this smooth start. for the convenience of the user or to make the instrument last a little longer.

Isn’t it this or something similar?

It is not clear why the manufacturer made a soft start. for the convenience of the user or to make the instrument last a little longer.

Probably to justify its current price, which has become equal to more famous brands. It’s called pushing something in anyway. I would never buy one like this myself. I believe that smooth start and professional work are not compatible. They don’t pay us that much to wait for this “Baltic” function to start the saw.

I took the saw apart.

I figured out this crap. It turned out to be not difficult. I cut all three wires with a knife.

I removed two wires altogether, and connected the one from the engine to the button. Fortunately, the contacts on it are threaded, and not, like some, tightly sealed inside. I'm looking for a jigsaw anchor for a circular saw, you can buy an electric gear. I put everything back.

And this is a casing upgrade, cheap and cheerful. Retracting it by hand is not always convenient because one hand is on the saw, the other is on the workpiece, which is why it is difficult to remove the casing.

You can’t feel the casing on the head at all, but this one is really annoying. To remove it you need to disassemble the saw floor, so be it. By the way, there was an iron fin behind the disk. He was the first to be harassed. Now this is a working tool!

This is what it looks like outside and inside.

And on the wooden forum, people specifically buy such black things and attach them to circulars (the ones on the table).

It was like this: I was sawing wood for firewood on a workbench, and my son was serving it, i.e. a series of similar movements was made and the circular saw returned to the thigh. Attachment for hand-held circular saw |. At one point the casing was accidentally fixed with a sliver and did not return to its place, I automatically put the tool on my thigh, and the disk behind my pants. Judging by the scale of the flaw, I still cannot understand how the leg survived. After this jump, I got rid of Rebir and warned the new owner about the incident. I think that in addition to the casing, the circular drive must have a disc run-out brake. For safety reasons, I bought a Metabo KSE sixty-eight Plus. In addition to the brake, it also has a clutch, which protects the engine from overload when the disk jams.

p.s. Upgrade changed the cable to a domestic kg 7.5 meters long for convenience.

a series of similar movements was made and the circular saw returned to the thigh.

Monotony dulls vigilance, get a little distracted, stumble and expect trouble. It is advisable to immediately organize the work so that if an unusual situation arises, the risk of injury is minimal. That is, to assume the worst outcome in advance. the board will be thrown away, the disk will jam and the saw will jump, you won’t be able to hold the saw at arm’s length, the surfacing will be torn out of the saw, etc., and the main thing is to be prepared for such consequences or to completely exclude the possibility of their occurrence.

disc run-down brake

On stationary brakes it’s even more interesting (maybe they’ve posted it before).

Smooth start for Bulgarians with your own hands: scheme. Device for soft start of crusher, connection

Wearing motors cause many power tools to not work. Modern models of angle grinders have a soft starter. Because of him they. ways to work for a long time. The principle of operation of the element is based on changing the operating frequency. To learn more about the starter device, it is worth considering the diagram of the standard model.

Soft starter

Standard scheme soft start The crusher consists of a triac, a rectifier unit and a set of capacitors. To increase the operating frequency, resistors are used that allow current to pass in one direction. The starter is protected by a compact filter. The nominal voltage of the models is kept low. However, in this case much depends on maximum power engine installed in Bulgarian.

How to connect the model?

The Bulgarian soft launch connection is made via an adapter. Its input contacts are connected to the rectifier unit. It is important to determine the zero phase in the device. A blowtorch is required to secure the contacts. You can check the performance of the starter using a tester. First, negative resistance is determined. When installing a starter, it is important to remember the threshold voltage that the device can withstand.

Device diagram for a balgar with a triac for 10 A

The Bulgarian-made soft start scheme, made by ourselves, involves the use of contact resistors. The polarity coefficient of modifications, as a rule, does not exceed 55%. Many models are made using blockers. A wire filter is responsible for protecting the device. Low frequency transceivers are used to transmit current. The process of reducing the threshold voltage is carried out on a transistor. Triac in this case acts as a stabilizer. When the model is connected, the output impedance at 10 A overload should be about 55 ohms. Starter pads are suitable for semiconductors. In some cases, magnetic transceivers are installed. They are good at low speed and can maintain rated frequency.

Model for Bulgarians with a triac at 15 A

Smooth start for bulgark with triacs at 15 A is universal and often found in low power models. Difference between devices. low conductivity. The Bulgarian soft-start circuit (device) involves the use of contact-type transceivers operating at a frequency of 40 Hz. Many models use comparators. These elements are installed with filters. The rated voltage of the starter starts from 200 V.

Starters for bulgariaks with triac for 20 A

Devices with 20 A triacs are suitable for professional Bulgarians. Many models use contactor resistors. First of all, they are capable of operating at high frequencies. The maximum starter temperature is 55 degrees. Most models are well protected. The standard design of the device includes the use of three 30 pF contactors. Experts say the devices are distinguished by their conductivity.

The minimum frequency of starters is 35 Hz. They can work online direct current. Modifications are connected via adapters. Such devices are well suited for 200 W motors. Filters are often installed with triodes. The sensitivity index for them is no more than 300 mV. Wired comparators with a protection system are quite common. If we consider imported models, they have an integrated converter that is installed with insulators. Current conductivity is ensured at a level of 5 microns. With a resistance of 40 Ohms, the model is able to stably maintain high speeds.

Models for Bulgarian 600 W

For 600 W Bulgarians, contactors with contact triacs are used, in which the overload does not exceed 10 A. It should also be noted that there are many devices with cladding. They are distinguished by their safety and are not afraid of high temperatures. The minimum frequency for 600 W Bulgarians is 30 Hz. The resistance depends on the installed transistor. If it is of a linear type, then the above parameter does not exceed 50 Ohms.

If we talk about duplex triodes, then the resistance at high speeds can reach up to 80 ohms. Very rarely, models have stabilizers that operate from comparators. Most often they are attached directly to the modules. Some modifications are made with wired transistors. They have a minimum frequency starting from 5 Hz. They are afraid of overloads, but are able to maintain high speeds at a voltage of 220 V.

Devices for Bulgarians at 800 W

800 W Bulgarians work with low-frequency starters. Triacs are often used at 15 A. If we talk about the circuit of the models, it is worth noting that they use expansion transistors, in which the current capacitance starts from 45 microns. Capacitors are used with and without filters, and the capacitance of the elements is no more than 3 pF. It is also worth noting that starters are sensitive.

If you consider professional grinders, then they are suitable for 400 mV modifications. Current conductivity may be low. In addition, there are devices with variable transistors. They heat up quickly, but they are not capable of maintaining high Bulgarian speeds, and the current conductivity is about 4 microns. If we talk about other parameters, the rated voltage starts from 230 V. The minimum frequency for models with a wideband triac is 55 Hz.

Starters for Bulgarians 1000 W

Starters for these grinders are made using triacs with an overload of 20 A. The standard circuit of the device includes a triode, a stabilizer and three transistors. The rectifier unit is most often installed on a wired basis. Capacitors can be used with or without a filter. The minimum frequency of the regular model is 30 Hz. With a resistance of 40 ohms, starters are capable of supporting large overloads. However, problems can arise at low speeds of the Bulgarians.

How to make a starter with a triac TS-122-25?

Making a smooth start for a Bulgarian with the hands of the TC-122-25 is quite simple. , it is recommended to prepare a contactor resistor. Capacitors will require a single-pole type. The starter has only three elements installed. The capacitance of one capacitor should not exceed 5 pF. To increase the operating frequency, a contactor is soldered on the plate. Some experts say it is possible to increase conductivity through filters.

The rectifier unit is used with a conductivity of 50 microns. It is capable of withstanding large overloads and will be able to provide high speeds. In addition, in order to assemble a soft start on a Bulgarian with your own hands, a thyristor is installed. Upon completion of work, the model is connected via an adapter.

Assembling a model with VS1 series triacs

You can build a smooth start for your DIY crusher on the Triac VS1 using a few rectifier blocks. The capacitors for the device are suitable for linear type with a power of 40 pF. Start assembling the modification by soldering resistors. Capacitors are installed in series between insulators. The rated voltage of a high quality starter is 200V.

Then, in order to make a smooth start for the Bulgarians with their own hands, the assembled triac is taken and soldered at the beginning of the circuit. Minimum operating frequency for it should be 30 Hz. In this case, the tester should display a value of 50 ohms. If there are problems with capacitors overheating, you need to use dipole filters.

Model for angle grinders with regulator KR1182PM1

To assemble with KR1182PM1 soft start regulator for crusher with your own hands, contact thyristor and rectifier unit. It is more expedient to apply a triode to two filters. It is also worth noting that to assemble the starter you will need three capacitors with a bandwidth of at least 40 pF.

The sensitivity index of the elements should be 300 mV. Experts say that the triac can be installed behind the pad. It should also be remembered that the threshold voltage should not fall below 200 V. Otherwise, the model will not be able to work at lower speeds of the Bulgarian language.
