Once upon a time, topiarians were the name given to masters of figured pruning of trees and shrubs, professionals capable of giving plants perfect shapes - geometric, zoological, bizarre and mystical. Now this concept means handmade products, appearance which are difficult to correlate with real botanical species, because it depends solely on the author’s imagination.

Topiary is often called the tree of happiness, which suggests the use of this product as a beautiful talisman . Some of its varieties can be used for the following purposes:

But it is not necessary to adhere to certain canons. This is a creative work, so you can give free rein to your imagination and create your own unique design.

Tree made of banknotes and coins

To make money topiary, coins are used, as well as souvenir bills or paper napkins with matching print. In some cases, real banknotes of small denominations are used. But such a product will not look very presentable, although it will turn out to be quite expensive, because one tree will cost about 100 banknotes. So it's much better to use fake ones. Both the local currency and the dollar or euro are suitable for this.

The possibilities for using such topiary are quite wide. They are made for various purposes:

Basic Consumables

Classic topiary is a tree with a single trunk and a spherical crown, “growing” in flower pot. But the craft can look like anything. Products differ in shape, materials, and design. The trunk is made straight, winding, branched. The crown can be not only round, but also oval, pyramidal, heart-shaped or spreading. You can also use money to make an original New Year tree that will decorate a window sill, office table or store display.

Other tree talisman options

There are many ways to design topiary from banknotes. Counterfeit banknotes can not only be rolled into little bags, but also rolled into tubes, bent in half, folded like a fan, and made into flowers, stars and other elements using the modular origami technique. The edges or cores of such blanks are often decorated with beads or seed beads.

You can also form a crown from coins of any denomination. They are glued onto a spherical base, but not flat, but slightly overlapping. Otherwise, there will be gaps between the coins, which will give the product a somewhat untidy appearance.

The money tree is sometimes based on a panel on which the trunk and branches are embroidered with satin stitch or cross stitch. It is supplemented with banknotes and other elements. There are also options when a living money tree - an indoor fat plant - is decorated with banknotes or coins.

The craft can be made more like a tree. Its structure will be more complex. Such a composition should have not only a trunk, but also branches. Beads will help imitate foliage. Several pieces of it are strung on a wire, the edges of which are then connected, giving the element a leaf-like shape. Each such leaf is attached to the branches. Considering that this is a talisman for attracting money, the beads should be green or golden. You can decorate the finished crown using Chinese coins (with a hole in the center).

Sometimes such topiary is used only to give money, for example, to newlyweds, in a non-trivial way. After reviewing the photo finished works, you can stop at the ready design solution or come up with your own version of a money tree. Any one will be suitable for these purposes. Real money is carefully rolled into a tube and placed not among the counterfeit bills, but separately so that they can be easily seen. The advantage of such a gift is that it will not just become a cute trinket, but will contribute to the financial well-being of a young family.

Twist the wires into a spiral

Step 4

To get a small twig, twist several leaves together

Step 5

For a whole branch you need to connect 2 - 3 small ones. We try to replicate the structure of a real tree

Step 6

We connect several whole branches together - we get a small tree (to make it more natural, we copy the structure from living trees)

Step 7

To make the barrel strong, we wrap it with thread or FUM tape

Step 8

Many indoor plants are credited with a mystical essence. There are widow's flowers or muzhegons. Superstitious people assign them the role of destroyers of the male half of families living in the same room with these flowers. Some flowers are considered vampires, believing that they take energy from all household members, regardless of gender.

But not everything is so bad in the world indoor plants. There are flowers that bring wealth to the house. This is the Crassula plant, which everyone knows as the money tree. Is there really any benefit from its mystical influence is unknown.

Moreover, the effective result from the presence of a money tree in the house is expected only after many conditions for caring for it are met. Even the location of the plant in the room matters, which should preferably be coordinated in accordance with the teachings of Feng Shui.

Similar mystical influences are also attributed to inanimate objects, including artistic crafts that are made in the form of a money tree. The second name for such a work of art is topiary.

For lovers of mysticism who are also capable of doing handicrafts, it is much more practical to make an artificial money tree from coins with your own hands. The effect of its mystical influence will most likely be as zero as that of the plant, but it will require much less self-care. Maximum dust removal.

Moreover, a topiary made with your own hands will bring at least moral satisfaction to its creator. And if it turns out to be quite attractive and original, it will additionally decorate the interior of a house or apartment. It will give the master an impetus to further develop his activities and even develop his own master classes, which he will be able to conduct in personal communication with those who wish to join this type of creativity. A broader version of propaganda activities is broadcasting master classes in the virtual space among Internet users. Step-by-step needlework allows us to make a coin tree, for example, from salt dough and small coins - you can step by step make a panel from it in a frame on a backing made of beautiful paper. Or you can make a coin topiary - a tree of happiness, see examples of such topiaries below in the gallery.

Traditional methods

The most common samples executions of a money tree or topiary come in two types: three-dimensional or planar in the form of paintings.

To make even the simplest version, first of all, you will need coins. According to the interpretation of Feng Shui, there should be exactly one hundred of them. People who are far from superstitious do not have to adhere to this rule. The main thing is that the number of coins is enough to implement the idea. And there are a great many ideas for such a project.

Topiary is made not only in the form of a tree and not only using coins. A very popular material for these purposes are coffee beans, both roasted and raw. Often coffee in such crafts is used in a joint artistic composition with coins. A successful coffee topiary with coins requires special creativity and skill.

The materials that will be required in addition to coins are:

  1. Various types of wire.
  2. Colored ribbons.
  3. Rhinestones or jewelry that imitates jewelry.
  4. Balls of all sizes.
  5. Glue.
  6. Paints.

As for tools, we can name a certain set that you simply cannot do without when making crafts of this kind:

  1. Thermal gun.
  2. Drill or drilling machine with a set of thin drills.
  3. Wire cutters and pliers.
  4. Painting or art brushes of all sizes.

In order to know how to make a money tree from coins or a money topiary with your own hands, there are many sites on the Internet with video recordings of master classes of similar creativity.

This is all good, accessible and useful, but it’s much more interesting to figure out what can be made from coins that is not yet available on the Internet in any of the master classes. Let it be the same topiary made of coins, but completely different from the already published copies.

Natural option

Traditionally as a base Money tree designs use wire, but it is much more natural to use parts of natural plants for this task. Branches of wild thorn or acacia are best suited here. They are most closely similar to the structure of the crown of any adult tree. In addition, their wood is strong and durable, even after drying. For even greater reliability, it makes sense to coat the surface of the branches with a moisture-proof varnish.

Used as material for crown decoration:

  1. Ordinary money in circulation today.
  2. Antique collectible coins.
  3. Souvenir coins that have no value.
  4. Just metal round discs, only imitating banknotes.
  5. Paper bills.

You can use any size of banknotes, but small coins with a denomination of one kopeck or ten rubles look more attractive on a tree.

The density of the hanging generally depends on the desire and capabilities of the craftsman creating the craft, but for a tree made from natural branches it should not be excessive.

Coins can be glued directly to the branches themselves or hung on strings, but to do this you will have to drill small holes in the metal body of the coins. It is advisable to use threads of golden or silver color; you can also paint ordinary textile threads in these colors.

If for tree decoration Copper coins are used, they will have to be polished to a shine using a special paste or only new samples that have not yet lost their natural shine will have to be used.

In addition to coins, it is permissible to hang imitation precious stones, gold chains, medallions or pendants. Everything is at the discretion and imagination of the master.

Base options

An important part of the entire structure is the base for installing the tree. It can carry a minimal artistic load, imitating the natural landscape of the soil with the presence of grass, moss, pine needles, old leaves, pine cones and acorns. It is possible to take all these elements into in kind from nature, except moss. It will have to be imitated using velvet or paints. Roasted coffee beans work well as acorns.

In this interpretation, small birds or butterflies would be appropriate on the tree branches. Natural dried butterflies can be used.

Bases that imitate nature can also be suitable for coin topiary, as long as it also reflects the essence of nature. Albeit not in the form of a tree, but in the form of a flower or mushroom.

Hi-tech

Another type of base for a money tree is technological. Materials for its execution are glass, metal, plastic. The pedestal can be equipped with various mechanical and electrical devices: lighting, a mechanism for rotating the tree around its axis, sound or music during rotation. All these technical intricacies can be done using old electronic or wind-up children's toys.

Spectacular lighting the highest class will be obtained on the basis of laser pointers. You just have to worry about the safety of observers' eyes when using them.

A tree in this design will be effectively shown to the audience in the dark, when the shadows from the rotating branches will be intricately intertwined on the walls and ceiling.

Animals are inappropriate at the foot of such a tree. The topic here will be small robots, transformers, or completely obscure technical crafts and designs.

Other topics

The top cover of the stand can also be made narrowly thematic.

A sea beach with sand, shells and pebbles, where the sound of the surf will fit incredibly harmoniously as a soundtrack.

A forest swamp with frogs, bird nests, hummocks and clearings of bogs with dark water.

The tree can be installed on an island in the center of a pond or fountain. To simulate water, it is convenient to use a layer of hardened transparent glue. The bottom of the fountain is under a layer Artificial water in the theme is also dotted with coins.

It looks more attractive from coins than from banknotes. It's quite easy to make if you follow the instructions. Coins can be used in a variety of ways: old and new, large and small, silver, gold and painted.

What materials will be needed for the work?

To manufacture this product you will need the following materials:

  • foam ball for the base;
  • coins of any denomination and type;
  • thick aluminum wire, branches, sushi sticks - for the trunk;
  • ribbon for decorating the trunk;
  • stand;
  • gypsum;
  • paints;
  • glue;
  • heat gun;

DIY coin topiary (video)

Topiary options

A coin topiary will be an excellent desktop decoration. The souvenir not only looks attractive, but also, according to Feng Shui, attracts wealth.

Simple topiary

  1. First you need to choose a base. It is usually taken as a ball of polystyrene or foam rubber with a diameter of about 8 cm.
  2. Coins are attached to the ball using glue. First, one coin is glued, and then four on the sides (they should slightly overlap the first coin). The base is not completely pasted over: you need to leave room for attaching it to the trunk. To make coins shine and not lose their attractiveness, they are coated with varnish.
  3. The barrel is inserted into the ball, and the place of their connection is treated with glue for reliable fixation. This area can then be decorated with ribbon or corrugated paper.
  4. The trunk is decorated with a beautiful ribbon.
  5. Additional decorative elements, such as bows, are glued to the ball.
  6. The tree is placed in a pot partially filled with plaster. You can make a pot yourself from a plastic glass, or you can buy it in a store.
  7. The inside of the pot is decorated, for example, with coins or artificial grass.

Topiary made of coins and coffee

In this case, the product will not only look nice, but also smell delicious. The best option is the “coffee wallet”. It is prepared simply: the base ball is covered with coffee beans, and a triangle is left in one part of it to secure coins.

You can also do "". In this case, the coins are fixed on a strong wire, depicting a stream pouring from a cup into a saucer. Coffee beans are glued onto the saucer (if you paint them to match the color of the coins, the topiary will look as elegant and rich as possible). Or you can make just a slight hint at the money theme by adding just a couple of coins.

Tree of small coins

If you want to make a topiary that looks like a real tree, you will need the following materials:

  • coins;
  • gypsum;
  • drill;
  • stone;
  • paints;
  • sea salt;
  • newspaper;
  • glue;
  • pot;
  • wire;
  • Feng Shui money figurine.

Make a tree as follows:

  1. Using a drill, holes are drilled in the coins.
  2. The coins are laid out on newspaper and painted gold on both sides.
  3. They form small branches by fastening three coins with wire, and then combine them into large branches.
  4. A trunk is made from wire and branches are attached to it.
  5. Prepare a stand: pour plaster into a plastic plate and place a stone in the middle.
  6. The barrel and stand are painted brown.
  7. The entire structure is varnished.
  8. The crown of the tree and the stand are decorated with sea salt of any color, placed on glue.
  9. A Feng Shui figure, such as a money toad, is glued onto the stand.

Other options for money topiary

Excellent obtained from a branch of corelius, which is sold in any flower shop. You can also decorate the leg of a money tree with bent coins: the work is painstaking, but such a trunk looks very impressive. For one topiary in this case you will need about 200 coins. Attach them with hot glue. Also used to create a trunk are foil and wire, plastic sticks from a flower shop, and wooden bases for brushes.

Rolled up bills placed on toothpicks are sometimes attached to the crown along with coins, folded into pounds, tubes, an accordion and a fan.
