I decided to smoothly transition to dynamic moving models. This is a project for a small homemade IR-controlled robot, assembled from simple and readily available parts. It is based on two microcontrollers. Transmission from the remote control is provided PIC12F675, and the receiving part for the motor controller is implemented on PIC12F629.

Everything went smoothly with the digital part, the only problem was in the “propulsion system” - small gearboxes, which are very problematic to make at home, so I had to develop the idea " vibrobugs"The micromotors are controlled through amplifying transistor switches on the BC337. They are replaceable with any other small n-p-n transistors with a collector current of 0.5 A.

The dimensions turned out to be very small - in the photo there is a comparison of it with a coin and also near a matchbox. The robot's eyes are made of super-bright LEDs, tucked into a housing of small electrolytic capacitors.

You can make figurines yourself from a wide variety of and sometimes even unexpected materials: from unnecessary boxes to edible mastic. Let's take a closer look at how a robot can be made quickly and easily with your own hands. Descriptions and step-by-step photos are given below.

We make various robots with our own hands in step-by-step master classes

Crochet robot Bibi.

One of the cutest and funniest characters is the robot Bibi from everyone’s favorite “Smeshariki”. It’s easy to crochet a round figure using leftover multi-colored yarn.

Necessary materials:
  • acrylic or cotton yarn in yellow and turquoise, as well as some black, brown, green and red threads;
  • a hook of a suitable size;
  • padding polyester;
  • cardboard;
  • wire;
  • needle;
  • scissors.
Operating procedure.

Using yellow threads, we cast on two loops and close them into a ring, tying it with 6 single crochets. In the second row we knit 12 single crochets, then in each row we evenly add 6 stitches. From rows 9 to 16 we knit without increases; each row should have 48 stitches. From the 17th row we decrease the loops in the reverse order until we get a round piece. As you knit, fill the piece with padding polyester.

Let's start knitting the body. For one part, we cast on two air loops with turquoise threads, close them into a ring and tie it with 6 single crochets. In the second row we knit 12 single crochets. In the third and subsequent rows we make uniform increases of 6 columns, alternating classic and embossed columns. In the 9th row we knit the last increase, you should get 54 single crochets. We knit the next row without increasing, then we tie the workpiece with half-columns, inserting the hook behind the back wall of the loops. In the 12th row we alternate 2 single crochets, a bump of 4 unfinished double crochets and 8 single crochets. Then, in the 13th row, we tie the resulting hemisphere with single crochets and break the thread. We knit the second part in the same way. You can use other body knitting patterns.

We assemble the yellow base and body parts, leaving space for the eyes. We knit randomly shaped handles from turquoise threads and attach them to the body. Then we knit wheels, an antenna, decorative keys and light bulbs, and eyes from scraps of thread. We sew the details to the figure, embroider the pupils and highlights on the eyes. First insert the wire into the antenna and twist it into a spiral. We cut the threads and carefully thread them. Robot Bibi is ready!

Soft toy made of felt.

Who said that a robot must be made of metal and plastic or, at worst, cardboard? A funny robot girl made of felt can easily replace a soft toy or a miniature amigurumi figurine.

To make a small amigurumi-style toy from soft felt or fleece, cut out square pieces of the following sizes:

  • 4.5 cm for the torso;
  • 3.5 cm for the head;
  • 2.0 cm for legs;
  • 1.5 cm for hands.

For each part of the body you will need 6 squares. If desired, the dimensions of the blanks can be significantly increased so that you can sew a large soft toy.

We cut out blanks without allowances or with minimal allowances of 1-2 mm. Sew the pieces together on each side using a running stitch until you get a cube. Before sewing the last side, we fill the workpiece with synthetic fluff or other filler. We make sure that the filler fibers do not stick out along the edges of the cube; if necessary, trim off the excess.

In a similar way, we sew together all parts of the body of the future robot and connect them together with a needle and thread or a glue gun. We sew on eyes from half beads, embroider eyelashes, and, if desired, sew on a bow and other decorations. The miniature figurine can be decorated as a refrigerator magnet, keychain or brooch.

Robot made from boxes.

A funny and very cute robot is made from unnecessary boxes. You can use whole boxes to make a large product, or scraps of corrugated cardboard boxes to make a miniature figurine.

To make a small robot out of boxes, you can use the following template.

We transfer the pattern of the required size to the cardboard and carefully fold the parts along the fold lines. To avoid the formation of torn creases and folds, you should use a stationery knife. In the part for the head, we carefully make slits in the form of eyes and a nose; if desired, the shape of the holes can be modified. We glue all the allowances together using PVA or Moment glue and assemble the figure, starting with the body. The arms and legs can be made to be hinged so they can move.

If you have ready-made neat and clean boxes of the appropriate size, you can use them. This method is perfect for beginners. In a similar way, you can make a robot from other, more durable materials - wood or plywood. In this case, it is necessary to cut blanks of the required size from plywood, sand the edges and glue them into cubes using adhesive tape. Further assembly is carried out by analogy with a figure made of cardboard or ready-made boxes.

Matchbox robot.

A simple and cute robot can be made from matchboxes.

To make this craft you will need 9 matchboxes, colored paper and glue. Cover five boxes for arms, legs and head with colored paper, and on the blank for the head draw an image of a face with a black marker. Glue the four remaining boxes together and cover the resulting blank with colored paper. Assemble the robot and, if desired, decorate it: make antennas from matches or sticks, stick or draw additional elements.

Robot made from cigarette packs.

A classic craft from our childhood is a robot made from a pack of cigarettes. To make it you will need several empty packs and glue.

We assemble a body from 8 packs, glue the head on top, placing the cigarette packs perpendicular to the body. We use the lids to make ears and a mouth. We assemble the legs from three packs each and place the body with the head glued on them. From two packs we make an arm bent at the elbow. We glue the handles to the body in the places where the lids are. We decorate the robot's face and make eyes and antennae from pieces of cardboard.

Application of geometric shapes.

Even kids can easily cope with making a robot image - a fun applique of geometric shapes.

It is necessary to draw and cut out geometric shapes of different shapes and sizes in advance: circles, rectangles, squares, triangles. Using PVA glue or a glue stick, together with the child, glue the figures onto a sheet of paper so that you get an image of a robot. Use a marker to add small details or decorate the background. This work will teach kids to navigate colors, sizes and shapes, and develop fine motor skills.

“Robot” earrings made of wire.

In the shape of a robot, you can make an unusual decoration - original earrings made of wire and large beads.

We cut the wire into pieces of the same size and make tight spirals out of them, winding them onto a rod or thin tube. We make a head out of wire, four spirals and two white or silver beads, thread the ends of the wire into a large colored bead and bend it to the sides to form arms. For each hand you will need two spirals and four small beads. Having folded the hands of the robot, we begin to form the torso and legs. To do this, we again pass the ends of the wire through a large colored bead and make legs consisting of two spirals and a small bead each. Fasten and cut the wire. We make the second earring in the same way and attach the earrings.

Robot made from plastic bottles.

You can make a wide variety of crafts from waste materials. A very unusual and original robot figurine is made from plastic bottles.

In order to make such a robot, you need to use a stationery knife to cut off the neck and bottom of the bottle for the body, and also cut out shaped parts for the arms and legs. We will use lids and other parts from plastic containers as decorative elements and fastenings. Using an awl, we make holes in the right places and connect all the pieces with wire. We fasten the wire and hide it inside the figure.

An edible robot can be made from fondant and used to decorate a cake for a children's party.

To make such a figurine, you will need food mastic in red, blue and white. We sculpt each part separately and connect it with toothpicks or glue it together. Lastly, we design the face and make additional details. Cake candles can be used as antennas.

Continuing the theme of creating robots with your own hands, I suggest trying to make a dancing robot from improvised materials. To create a robot with your own hands, you will need simple materials that can probably be found in almost every home.

The variety of robots is not limited to the specific patterns by which these robots are created. People constantly come up with original, interesting ideas on how to make a robot. Some create static sculptures of robots, others create dynamic sculptures of robots, which is what we will discuss in today's article.

Anyone can make a robot with their own hands, even a child. The robot, which will be described below, is easy to create and does not require much time. I’ll try to describe the stages of creating a robot with my own hands.

Sometimes ideas for creating a robot come completely unexpectedly. If you think about how to make a robot move using improvised means, the thought of batteries comes to mind. But what if everything is much simpler and more accessible? Let's try to make a robot with our own hands using a mobile phone as the main part. To create a vibration robot with your own hands, you will need the following materials.

The host of the channel “Textbook of Mastery” showed clearly how to make a walking mini robot. First of all, let's make the paws. We fasten two ice cream sticks together, measure 6 centimeters and immediately put two marks where the holes will be. We remove all excess with a scalpel, and sand the cut area. Using a drill, we drill two holes according to the marks.


We take two more sticks, secure them with tape, measure 6 centimeters and cut them off with a hacksaw. There is no need to round the edge. We make a hole on this workpiece only on one side. We will glue these blanks right in the middle of the shelf with rounded edges. Please note that they must be perpendicular. Prepare four 3-centimeter pieces of wooden skewers in advance. Insert into the bottom hole. Using superglue, glue two 8 cm pieces to a skewer. Use a ruler to maintain a 90 degree angle. See what happens. We make the second paw in exactly the same way. As you can see, everything is clear and it’s not difficult to do all this at home.

We will also need a plastic toy ball. In the lower part of the ball, using a hacksaw, we make two indentations for a wooden skewer. We twist the top part with a marker and mark where the cut will begin. Unscrew it along the thread and mark it again. Using a hacksaw, carefully make cuts between the marks. We select everything. When we unscrew or tighten the ball, the hole will always be open.

We take a low-speed gearbox motor. We attach a ready-made contact to it. You can get by with ordinary wiring. Cut a piece of the leg from the lollipop. We heat one end well and flatten it. We also heat the second end and put it on the gearbox shaft. At the bottom of the plastic ball, measure and glue a piece of an ice cream stick. This will be a stand for the gear motor. Let the superglue harden a little and apply hot glue liberally on top. We install the motor and fill the housings with hot glue. It should not get on the gearbox. Leave the ball with the motor aside. We make 2 centimeter blanks with a hole in the middle. To avoid burrs, we process the edge with sandpaper. Take a ruler and make two marks at a distance of 1 cm. Drill two holes along the marks and cut them in a semicircle with a scalpel. We process the edges.

The simplest robot at home

To make the simplest thing, we need a motor, two pieces of wire, a clothespin, and a phone charger. First you need to attach the wire to the motor. After that, once the glue has hardened, take pliers and bend the legs. Now you can move them apart so that the robot stands more confidently. Now we solder the contacts on the charger to the plus and minus.

Now you can test this simple mini robot. To make it move, we put a clothespin on the rotor. That's all! The robot is running.

Mini robot from a kit at home

The Alphadroid channel told how to make a mini robot at home.
To assemble a walker you need a large number of components. The Droidik self-assembly platform was used. In addition to the parts that can be purchased on the radio market, the kit contains additional necessary elements.

Kit contents: panels with parts for assembling the case, battery compartment, 4 full sets of servos, 30 nuts, M 3 screws and nuts, 2 self-tapping screws, ultrasonic distance sensor, cable, magnetized screwdriver, assembly instructions.

The robot body is made of wood, MDF. The set includes 5 plates with parts for the case, processed by a laser engraver. The robot is equipped with an ultrasonic sensor, this will help it navigate in space. On the first pages of the instructions, body panels are drawn on a scale of 1:1. It is necessary to take real plates and number them as shown in the figure.

First of all, you need to take part D1 and D4, as well as a pair of M3*10 screws. Carefully remove the parts from the plate and screw them to each other. Take D5 and servos. We screw it to D5 using the self-tapping screws that come with the kit. Take the first and second blanks and connect them using D3. There are grooves in the wooden parts, and they fit into each other. We take the nuts and place them in the places provided for them. These were the legs and feet of a robot. Moving on to D2 and the servo sleeves. We fix the sleeve on the bar. The strap is put on.

We carry out calibration: turn the drive to the side, pull out the bar, reinsert it and turn it again until the bar rests. Once again we remove the straps and put them in the final position: so that D2 touches D3, or is as close as possible to it. We return the drive to its original position. At this point the calibration is complete. Take support D10 and install it on D1 and D2. D1 is not clamped all the way using the locknut. What we have now installed is a socket for servos; we place the remaining two on the corresponding sockets. There is a fixation bar - D11.

Calibration: put on the hangers and turn them all the way, remove the shoulders and set them in a vertical position, set the angle to 90 degrees, and finally remove them. The legs are ready. To assemble the head: D7, D14 and 4 bolts m3*12 mm.

One of the very time-consuming and exciting activities is building your own robot.

Everyone, from a teenager to an adult, dreams of making either a small and cute or a large and multifunctional robot, as many people have so many different modifications of robotics. Do you want to make a robot?

Before such a serious project, you should first make sure of your capabilities. Building a robot is not the cheapest or easiest thing to do. Think about what kind of robot you want to make, what functions it should perform, perhaps it will be just a decorative robot made from old parts or it will be a fully functional robot with complex, moving mechanisms.

I have met many craftsmen who create decorative robots from old, worn-out mechanisms, such as watches, alarm clocks, televisions, irons, bicycles, computers and even cars. These robots are made simply for beauty; they, as a rule, leave very vivid impressions, especially children like them. Teenagers are generally interested in robots as something mysterious, still unknown.

Parts of decorative robots are attached in various ways: with glue, welding, and screws. In such an activity there are no unnecessary parts; any details are used, from a small spring to the largest bolt. Robots can be small, tabletop, and some craftsmen manage to make decorative robots of human size.

It is much more difficult and no less interesting to make a working robot. The robot doesn’t have to look like a person, it can be a tin can with horns and caterpillars :) here you can use your imagination ad infinitum.

Previously, robots were mostly mechanical, all movements were controlled by complex mechanisms. Today, most crude mechanical components can be replaced with electrical circuits, and the “brain” of a robot can be just one microcircuit into which the necessary data is entered through a computer.

Today, the Lego company produces special kits for constructing robots, while such construction kits are expensive and not available to everyone.

Personally, I’m interested in making a robot with my own hands from scrap materials. The biggest problem encountered during construction is the lack of electrical knowledge. If mechanically you can still do something without problems, then with electrical circuits things are more complicated; it is often necessary to combine several different electrical components, and this is where difficulties begin, but all this can be fixed. When creating a robot, problems may arise with electric motors; good motors are expensive, you have to disassemble old toys, this is not very convenient. Many radio components have also become scarce, more and more equipment is made on complex microcircuits, and this requires serious knowledge. Despite all the difficulties, many of us continue to create amazing robots for a variety of purposes. Robots can do laundry, clean up dust, draw, move objects, make us laugh, or simply decorate our desktop.
