The final list depends on the size of the future flower bed. But even if the size is large, there is no need to plant a large number of different perennials; it is better to have a few of them, but each will occupy a larger area. This way we will avoid excessive diversity, which will significantly complicate the perception of the entire flower garden at once.

We will divide the resulting list of plants into two groups:

The first is plants that have a short growing season. These are mainly spring bulbous plants. In their place, annual flowers should be provided. It is very good to plant plants that form a large green mass from one root.

How to properly plant a flowerbed with your own hands?

First, if necessary, we clear the area allocated for the flower garden. Then we mark the boundaries of the flowerbed. If the soil is fertile, then at the site of the future flower garden you just need to remove all the weeds, and then dig up and loosen the soil. But this must be done very carefully.

If the soil in front of the house is unimportant, then inside the area marked for the flowerbed, the top layer of soil should be removed to a depth of 15–20 cm. After this, we dig in or install decorative elements of the flower bed and its borders (sides). When the soil is fertile, we perform this part of the work after loosening the soil. Then we level and compact the surface of the open pit, and then, if necessary, lay drainage on its bottom. Expanded clay, crushed stone and even broken brick are suitable for these purposes.
