Equipment for the production of floor slats. Floorboard production is a worldwide hobby

Lining is a common finishing material that has gained popularity due to its advantages: environmental friendliness, ease of processing and attractive appearance.

The facing board can be purchased ready-made, or you can make it yourself using a special woodworking machine.

Let's look at what a machine for making lining is, what models are used in production and at home, and how not to make a mistake when choosing woodworking equipment.

Application of lining: advantages and disadvantages of facing material

Despite the abundance of modern finishing materials, such as plastic and plasterboard, wood still remains on the list of the most popular building materials.

Lining is very popular - a planed board made of deciduous or coniferous wood with the same type of joining elements (tongue and groove), which has a natural level of humidity.

Lining is a universal building material that is used for exterior and interior decoration of residential premises, verandas, gazebos, loggias, etc.

The advantages and disadvantages of lining largely depend on the type of wood, but there are also general advantages of this material:

The disadvantages of wooden lining include:

  1. The cost of lining is higher than the cost of plastic and drywall.
  2. Wood is a flammable material, so when using it you must strictly adhere to fire safety rules.

Do I need to buy a machine for making lining?

Even the most primitive machine for making lining is not cheap, so before purchasing it you need to determine for yourself: will such an acquisition be profitable?

Arguments in favor of buying a machine for making lining:

If the project requires a small amount of lining, and setting up a wood processing business is not part of your immediate plans, then at home you can use a hand-held milling cutter or a homemade machine to make lining.

Description and principle of operation of the machine for making lining

The shaped profile of the lining is the result of processing lumber using special cutters.

The lining profile can be formed using conventional milling equipment, but a single-profile machine can only process one side of the workpiece in one pass, and other tools will have to be used to grind and process other sides of the board. This option is not suitable for mass production of lining, since the productivity of such machines will be too low.

More convenient is a four-sided multi-spindle machine that processes wood raw materials on four sides simultaneously. The finished product is produced in one pass of the working material.

Machines for lining have the following technical features:

The main components of a woodworking machine for lining are:

The rotation speed of workpieces on factory machines reaches about 5000 rpm - this ensures high-quality surface treatment of the material

Additional equipment for the manufacture of lining

If you have additional equipment, you can set up a full lining production cycle. For this, in addition to a machine for making lining, you will need:

Before making a purchase, you need to choose the optimal machine model and check the quality of the equipment.

When choosing the type of machine for lining, you should consider:

If used correctly and carefully, a machine for making lining will be an excellent help during construction, and the cost of purchasing it will quickly pay off if you set up the production of lining to order.

One could say that the floorboard is a material “with a beard,” but it could be said differently – it is a material with a long history. And the best way to test love is, of course, time. Our love for this floor covering has gone through all the tests.

Nowadays she is experiencing very serious pressure from newfangled “competitors,” but this love is still strong. And advanced ideas in the field of carpentry machine tools made this love even stronger.

Love for centuries - despite shortcomings and “rivals”

Moreover, this love is becoming a development priority in countries such as Finland and Canada. Averse to all monetary world business ideas, China is also entering a number of countries - world leaders in the production of wood, floorboards, in the first place. And for good reason. She is in great demand due to her wonderful qualities.

Qualities you can’t live without

Some of these great features of flooring include:

  • Ability to withstand a large number of so-called scrapes- in another way, it can be used on this floor, and then re-laid on another, a third, and all thanks to the fact that it is made from a single piece of wood, unlike parquet, which is “glued”.

  • Resistant to temperature and humidity fluctuations– both due to the material itself and the configuration of the boards, which have longitudinal grooves for inserting one board into another;
  • High strength and reliability– although this is not worth checking, especially since it strongly depends on the type of wood used for production;
  • Ability to retain heat– although it still doesn’t hurt to help with insulation;
  • Antistatic, meaning – electric – this property of wood is demonstrated in physics lessons at school;
  • Anti-allergenic, already purely, human - although it must be said that the commonly used coating of the board with varnish significantly reduces this positive feature;
  • Environmental friendliness– and regardless of whether the board is made from primary or from so-called renewable resources.

But there are also disadvantages

There is no perfection in the world, wood fully confirms this.

Among its disadvantages there are also significant ones when it comes to use on the floor:

  • it conducts sound perfectly, and what could be worse for the floor;
  • very demanding in terms of care and use - on the other hand, what material can withstand the absence of a broom or vacuum cleaner for a month;
  • does not tolerate waterlogging at all - namely “over-moistening”, well, this is only permissible in bathrooms; neither the living room nor the children’s room allow floods anyway;
  • softness, elevated to the rank of resistance to abrasion, and this is already very significant;
  • Wood is also flammable, susceptible to rotting, insects and rodents love it, and changes shape as a result of drying out.

But enough about the shortcomings. One more and very important advantage can be derived from them.

These shortcomings gave such impetus to the development of technical, creative thought that dozens of wood protection technologies and dozens of new flooring technologies and materials were developed. And this is also thanks to the same floorboard, supposedly its shortcomings.

Helpful advice!
However, be very careful when purchasing flooring boards.
We advise you to deal only with trusted suppliers who have their own large production capacities.
And, very importantly, they have their own industrial installations for drying wood.
As a rule, everyone has a sawmill, but there are only one or two decent dryers.

Wood species

Nature has created a huge number of wood species, but not all are suitable for flooring:

  • poplar and linden are absolutely not suitable due to their softness, and most importantly, the constant presence of difficult-to-remove resins;
  • pine, alder, aspen - these species are already in use, but since they are considered not hard enough, their use is limited - when there is “alder” on the floor, you cannot do without varnishing, which, moreover, must be constantly updated;
  • oak, larch, ash, walnut are hardwoods that give glory to such floor coverings as floorboards.

Usage

Instructions for using floorboards can consist of hundreds of pages, but the general line of technology is quite simple.

Previously

Based on the existing shortcomings, we first prepare the following:

  • waterproofing, it is best to focus from the very beginning on laying two layers of waterproofing;
  • varnish for finishing boards;
  • we place the boards in the room where the work will be done and let them rest there for at least two days;
  • We prepare reliable auxiliary means for drying and sanding, both for floorboards and floorboards;
  • wood primer - for processing joints.

Laying

The progress of laying floorboards on a concrete base is as follows:

  • First, all depressions are primed, all protrusions are sanded, drying should take at least a day. Under no circumstances use the prepared hair dryer immediately; its turn should come at the final stage of drying.
  • Then the primary waterproofing is laid - do not forget to install the waterproofing along the entire perimeter of the floor at least 10 cm above the future level of the board.

Helpful advice!
We recommend laying waterproofing over the entire working surface in one piece.
If this is not possible, then be sure to treat the joints of adjacent ones with a piece of waterproofing adhesive tape, and on both sides.

  • A concrete screed is laid on the waterproofing. Grinding, taking into account the future laying of the floorboard, is carried out in order to lift cement laitance from the concrete to the surface for its removal. In addition, grinding allows you to further compact the screed. That is why it is recommended to sand at least 2-3 times.
  • Next comes another layer of waterproofing.
  • And then comes the turn of the floorboard, which can be mounted either directly on the prepared base or on logs.

conclusions

Laminate, linoleum, porcelain tiles - and all this, supposedly, to replace the floorboard. And yet, the board is still held in high esteem. Even these floor coverings cannot do without it.

The production of floorboards is constantly growing, it is even included in the list of industries that reflect the level of industrial development of a particular country, along with gas, oil, steel and rubber production. What company! And there is also room for a floorboard in it.

Attention, TODAY only!

Eurolining, block house, floorboards with grooved ends and similar molded wood products are in demand and expensive materials; if you have available raw materials and the need for a large volume, it is advisable to consider purchasing special devices for making them yourself. Taking into account the high requirements for the geometric accuracy of such products and the difficulties in selecting grooves, the best results are achieved when using machines that process the workpiece in one pass, with the ability to adjust the spindles.

Types of equipment

  • Presence or absence of automated control.
  • The number of spindles (varies from 4 to 8) and the method of controlling them (manual or mechanized). The more clamping shafts, the more complex and precise the workpiece is.
  • Type of frame (solid or prefabricated) and material of its manufacture.
  • Mobility of equipment for lining production. It functions after installation and secure fastening in a stationary state, but the weight and dimensions of some options allow them to be used as portable ones, while others do not.

In general, the selection takes into account:

1. Start 4x160.

The advantages include reliability, the ability to accurately and quickly adjust geometric dimensions, high productivity, stepless feed control, convenient access to all parts, tight pressing of materials by rollers and special support plates, good vibration damping, and much more. System settings are adjusted using a mobile remote control. Start 4×160 has reliable protection that prevents the workpiece from being ejected or displaced during processing. Dimensional deviation does not exceed 0.01 mm. All this, combined with an affordable price and a 2-year warranty, significantly increases competitiveness in comparison with foreign analogues. It is recommended to buy both for making lining at home for your own needs, and for producing products for sale.

Processes boards and timber with a length of 900 mm, a width of 20 to 200 and a thickness of 11-64 mm. The feed speed is adjusted in steps. Equipped with 2 cutters with straight blades and 2 sets of horizontal ones, combined into a single design that eliminates vibration. All individual components have protective housings, control is carried out directly, all buttons are located on the front panel.

This compact and multifunctional machine from a well-known Swedish manufacturer is recommended to buy if you need to profile and planing workpieces; its distinctive feature is the ability to quickly change knives, separate adjustment of the motors of each spindle and high-quality processing of wood, regardless of its hardness. With low power consumption (total power does not exceed 12.5 kW) it provides at least 500 l.m. eurolining in 1 hour, reliable thermal protection of engines prevents overheating. The durability of the resources is due to the correct fastening of the upper and lower shafts, the thick steel of the bed (4 mm) and the presence of a stable cast iron table.

This Russian device is characterized by high functionality; in terms of its performance, it is suitable for any woodworking enterprise with different output volumes. The quality and accuracy of the manufactured products is ensured by the presence of a stepless feed system for workpieces placed in a cylinder and equipped with a spring mechanism for adjusting the pressure rollers, soft polyurethane rollers that pick up the product at the exit, and a groove cutter and ruler on the first spindle. The only disadvantage of LTT MB4013 is the limitation on the width of the processed boards (130 mm), but this factor does not affect the production of eurolining; its profile does not exceed 12 cm.

The purchase of a professional machine for the manufacture of lining is considered justified only if you want to set up a constant production of products for the purpose of selling them. The line will only become complete if you have a convenient receiving table, a chamber for drying wood and equipment for cutting it.

When profiling a small volume on your own, a lamellar or manual edge cutter is suitable; in the absence of experience, such batches are simply purchased at bases. An alternative option is to produce it yourself, in this case the number of passes of the board increases several times, the quality of the products is inferior to those obtained with professional equipment, but for your own needs this will be enough.

A machine for making lining is necessary for everyone who wants, for example, to decorate a house or change house with it.

Making a machine and producing the paneling yourself will cost several times less than purchasing finished products in large volumes.

During construction and repair work, lining is indispensable; it is environmentally friendly, easy to process and attractive in appearance.

Of course, today manufacturers offer a huge range of such products, but lining made at home will always be of higher quality and more reliable than the one you can buy.

In addition, having your own machine for the production of lining, you can eventually try to start a small business.

However, factory equipment is also not cheap, although it pays off over time. There is a way out - to do it yourself, knowing all the intricacies of the process and understanding what material you have to work with.

How and from what is lining made?

It is noteworthy that different types of wood are needed to make lining. For finishing work (both facade and interior), the following wood species are chosen: pine, larch, cedar, spruce.

They also choose lining made from this material because it has a specific, pleasant, resinous smell that fills the room with comfort. Specifically for interior work, ash, linden, and aspen are used.

Such trees are less durable, but they are chosen for their attractive appearance and color spectrum.

If you are going to make lining with your own hands using a home machine, then you need to understand that it must meet many requirements and not be inferior to those made using industrial technology.

The production of lining consists in the fact that the finished sheet must be perfectly flat, without irregularities, deformations, or snags. This is achieved by grinding.

Also, the lining must be impregnated with special solutions, sometimes it is varnished. This is necessary so that moisture does not have such a destructive effect on the wood.

If wood is properly impregnated, it will last for decades. Depending on the type of wood, different cutting methods are chosen.

For example, if we are talking about pine, then only the lower part of the tree is sawn, because there are fewer knots there.

Larch is a cheap substitute for oak; it is characterized by high strength and integrity of the fiber structure.

How to make a home machine?

A machine for making lining must process the board from four sides at once, so its design is complex, especially if you do everything yourself.

An important parameter by which devices are characterized is the cross-section of the material that is obtained at the output. The larger the cross-section, the greater the power of the device should be.

First of all, they assemble the frame of the machine - this includes the table and frame. The work surface needs to be given a lot of attention.

Therefore, it is important to ensure high-quality welding of all parts, especially if welding will also be done by hand.

Most often, a homemade machine is made from strong sheet iron, because the table must be narrow, long and stable.

It is necessary to make a hole in the middle of the sheet where special rollers will be installed. They are driven by an electric motor.

The dimensions of the sheet make it possible not only to make linings with a large cross-section, but also to improve performance properties.

The fact is that the larger the homemade machine is in mass, the less vibration there will be during operation. Increased vibration always puts the high quality of the finished lining at risk.

The next step is to make a knife shaft at home. It would probably be redundant to say that the quality of the finished material depends on this component, because this is the main cutting part.

That is why it is better to buy a ready-made shaft in a store; making it yourself is almost impossible.

The fact is that professional parts are properly balanced and properly polished, which allows you not only to get high-quality lining, but also not to worry about the safety of the master during work.

As for the drive, it is better to give preference to stepped models, thanks to which you can regulate the supply of material for processing.

After this, the electric motor is installed - this process is easy to carry out even with your own hands. The main thing is to decide on the power. For domestic purposes, parameters from 2 to 5 kW are sufficient.

If you use more power, you may not achieve the required accuracy of processing, and less power does not allow you to cut the wood at all.

Here, even an old motor from other devices, for example, a washing machine, can be a budget option.

The last to be installed are the pressure rollers, which fix the wooden blanks on the machine sheet.

Here you can also use rollers from an old washing machine or purchase such parts from factory manufacturers.

Selection of tools and other subtleties of the process

Making a machine with your own hands is only possible if you have a whole list of special tools.

These include:

  • welding machine, even with low power;
  • an electric drill that has attachments that can handle metals;
  • Sander;
  • metal processing machine;
  • lathe.

Unfortunately, it is only possible to make a machine yourself if you have experience working with factory equipment. Without any practice it is simply unsafe.

The reliability of the design should not be in doubt, and the creation of the machine can even take months. An alternative option would be to purchase a milling or woodworking machine.

Using such a device, the creation of lining takes place in several stages, but such a device costs several times less than a professional machine for the production of materials.

When working with cutting equipment, it is necessary to constantly monitor the serviceability of the tools, sharpen them in a timely manner and check for chips and irregularities.

Any roughness can cause parts of the wood to ricochet, often causing serious injury.

All blades and shafts must be properly secured by selecting heavy-duty bolts and fully tightening them.

If you decide that it will not be possible to make a machine for lining at home, then you need to pay special attention to the choice of equipment. Review all technical specifications.

Here it is worth starting from the load that will be placed on the structure.

It is of great importance how often the machine will be used, whether it is needed for industrial production or the lining is made only for personal construction.

If you need to constantly produce lining, then it is better to take a powerful machine that operates at high speeds with a power of more than 5 kW. There are also manual and automatic models.

For the production of lining in small volumes, a manual machine is enough; for business you need an automatic one.

The use of natural floorboards not only creates coziness in the room, but also creates a cleaner, more environmentally friendly atmosphere. Unlike parquet boards, flooring is made from solid wooden beams.

Performance characteristics

This product differs from other types of coatings in its overall properties. Its main characteristics:

  • reliability and durability (withstands loads for a long period);
  • durable material (performance does not deteriorate over a long period of time, depends on the material of manufacture);
  • relatively high thermal conductivity and noise insulation;
  • resistance to deformation;
  • environmental friendliness of the material.

Production

A modern floorboard begins with the selection of a suitable blank. After this, the material is subjected to longitudinal sawing. Milling work with wooden blanks and logs of large diameters is also allowed.
Next, floorboard machines are used to perform cross-cutting and machining to achieve the dimensional characteristics of the workpieces. After this, the material is sent to the desalter.
Having left this zone, the wooden blanks enter the sorting zone and are partially taken to the sawmill for sawing into half-beams, slabs and unedged material. The half-beam continues to move along the technological chain to the machine for making boards, which converts the material into the following products:

  • rail;
  • beam;
  • board;

The resulting materials are packaged and sent for drying. Internal tension is relieved by reducing moisture between the fibers. This allows the wooden product not to deform during long-term use in dry, warm rooms.

Processing and preparation for installation

  • The dried workpiece is sent for processing on all four sides to a special planing machine for floorboards. With its help, the front side is also processed in its final form.
  • After this, a tongue-and-groove connection is milled from the side ends, which helps to quickly install the product indoors.
  • Thermal grooves are milled on the back side, which improve ventilation under the wooden floor.

Various options for finishing the floorboard are used. Such boards do not require additional sanding. With proper care and finishing, such a floor will last for decades.
