Preparing the drain into the sewer

If the sink is located next to a dishwasher, combine their drains by installing a drain siphon with an additional outlet under the sink. Water from the sink will flow through the main channel, and waste liquid from the PMM will flow through the additional channel.

The model of the socket does not matter, you can install the usual version, the main thing is that the design has a reliable contact group with a spring rather than a petal clamp, and a grounding terminal. Any chattering or sparking of the contacts leads to burnout of the socket body or breakdown of the electronic board of the dishwasher.

According to the instructions, the dishwasher must be connected through an additional switch, but in practice it is rarely installed, except in cases where the wiring is routed to the distribution board to the automatic machine. You can turn off the power to the dishwasher by unplugging the plug from the socket.

To protect such powerful equipment, as well as the people who use it, from emergency situations, it is necessary to connect a socket designed specifically for it to the distribution board with a separate cable of at least 2.5 mm square.

Tools required to install the outlet

Installing a dishwasher socket is a simple process, but it requires special tools:
1. slotted screwdriver - 2 pieces (2 and 4 mm);
2. Phillips screwdriver - 2 pieces (2 and 3 mm);
3. indicator screwdriver;
4. knife for installation;
5. pliers and special cutters for side cutting;
6. hammer.

All tools must have plastic handles. If there is no insulation on the tool, then you will have to make rubber attachments from a hose of the required diameter.

It is easier to install an external outlet, but it can interfere with furniture installation. It is better to buy a built-in socket with grounding, which is not so difficult to install even for a non-professional.

Installation consists of the following steps:
• First, a convenient location for installation is selected. Then you need to mark it and make a hole using a hammer drill with an attachment for this type of drilling.
• The location of the groove is determined using a level. This is necessary for connecting the wires. This can be done using a wall chaser.
• Before installing the socket box, it is necessary to check with a level whether there is any deviation from the horizontal surface.
• Using plaster and water, make putty and fix the plastic box in the wall.
• Place the cable in the groove, and attach the wiring to the wall in some places using plaster.
• The ends of the cable are stripped of insulation, and the three-core wire is divided into separate cores (5 cm from the edge).
• It is necessary to turn off the power supply at the distribution board. To do this, turn off or unscrew the plugs. For safety, the absence of voltage is checked by an indicator. Only after this can you connect the socket.
• The wires are connected to the contacts.
• All power wires are hidden in the socket, and its working part must be attached with self-tapping screws to the installed plastic box.
• At the last stage, the lid is screwed on. Before doing this, you should make sure that all wires are connected and insulated, and that the working part of the socket is securely fixed.

Any home handyman can handle the process of installing an outlet if he knows how to hold the necessary tools in his hands.

But you shouldn’t take risks if you have no knowledge at all about electrics, because here you need to competently carry out all stages of the process, observing safety precautions, only then can you be confident in the reliability of the final result.

The water supply is connected to cold water. It is advisable to install a filter on the water, which will reduce its hardness. This will significantly extend the life of the device.

If you do not pay due attention to the quality of the water, the machine will quickly fail. The check valve in the device will break. This will cause even cleanly washed dishes to smell unpleasant.

To prevent the check valve from malfunctioning, water filters are installed. In addition, the water supply is connected only to cold water. It is not advisable to connect it to hot water, because the quality of such water does not meet the necessary requirements.

Stages of connecting the water supply:
1. turning off the water - usually the tap is located in the kitchen;
2. disconnecting the hose from the mixer;
3. a tee is screwed onto the pipe and connected to the mixer;
4. A ball valve is connected to the tee (in the middle branch). The latter has an outlet to which a hose from the dishwasher is already connected;
5. a filter is installed on the outlet to retain debris.

The machine kit may include a hose that is too short. It will not be enough to connect to the pipe to the mixer. In this case, it is recommended to purchase a longer hose. You should not try to extend the old one - this will not be a very reliable solution.

One of the common ways to independently connect a device to a drainage system is to organize a drain through a siphon. This procedure should be carried out carefully and adhere to all installation recommendations.

The water drain must be equipped with a check valve and an additional outlet. This will prevent water from the sewer from entering the device.

Step-by-step connection instructions:
• the hose that extends from the machine is mounted on the wall or on a cabinet. It must be located at least 60 cm above the entrance of the drain into the sewer;
• the fixed hose is tilted at the required angle to create a gravity flow of water from the device. The bend must be made so that water from the sink does not enter the dishwasher hose;
• The drain circuit is connected to the siphon under the sink.

If there is already a siphon without outlets under the sink, which you don’t want to change, then you can use another method. To do this, the drain hose of the machine is connected to the outlet of the sewer pipe.

After this, the joint is tightly wrapped with electrical tape. In this case, you should bend the hose so that water from the sewer does not get into it.

Before connecting the drain, you need to check the length of the hose again. It should be enough. If it is short, then it can be extended. But you should not overdo it - excess length can negatively affect the operation of the pump.

Functionality check

After installing the outlet for connecting the dishwasher and connecting it to the water supply and sewerage system, you need to conduct a dry test of your new item.

You should check:
1. the speed of pouring water into the machine;
2. heating the incoming water;
3. operation of the dish drying mode.

The operation of all modes of the machine should be checked without dishes, but using detergent and reducing salt in accordance with its operating instructions. You should also carefully check all connections of pipes and hoses for leaks again.

After you have succeeded in connecting the dishwasher yourself, following all the recommendations in the installation manual, you can install the kitchen furniture that was moved during operation into its place, and attach the closing panel to the new machine.

In order to reliably connect the device, you must:
• install a water filter. Due to this, debris and rust from the water supply will not get into the machine, which negatively affect its operation;
• Do not connect the device to hot water supply. Hot water is usually of worse quality than cold water. Mechanical impurities that it contains will negatively affect work;
• Do not connect the machine to the boiler. There will be no savings from this - the water heater will still turn on periodically to heat the water. And residents will have to use cold tap water while the machine is running;
• use a check valve when connecting the sewerage system. This will protect against sewage being sucked into the machine;
• when connecting the drain hose to the drainage system, the water drainage circuit is bent so that water from the sink does not enter the machine;
• carefully check the tightness of the connected parts;
• It is advisable to purchase taps from bronze. This material is more durable than plastic;
• Avoid using extension cords to connect the device to power. The machine is a fairly powerful device, so such a connection can lead to a fire.

When installing, you must follow the instructions that came with the device. You should check the reliability and tightness of all connected parts several times. If difficulties arise, it is better to contact specialists than to fix the breakdown later.
