How to make a night light with your own hands - various examples with photo ideas. DIY night light: tips and ideas on how to make simple and concise models How to make a night light from a flashlight

Night table lamps and sconces, in addition to their direct functional purpose, play an important role in the interior design of the room. At the same time, self-made structures will compare favorably with mass-produced designs in their originality.

We will tell you in detail how to make a night light with your own hands from scrap materials (for example, plywood, disks, paper, nylon, etc.). But before moving on to the design, let's start with the main thing - electrical diagram devices.

Options for night light patterns

If it is planned to install lamps with an E27 or E14 base as light sources in nightlights or sconces, then it will be used standard scheme connection, which is so simple that it does not need explanation.

Regulating the level of light flux is a rather useful function for a night light; an example of the implementation of such a device (dimmer) is shown in the figure.

Elements used:

  • D1 – dinistor DB3;
  • D2—trinistor VTA12;

Resistors and capacitor:

  • R1 – nominal 500 kOhm;
  • R2 - 4.7 kOhm, in many similar circuits the power of the resistor is 0.125 W, which leads to overheating, given that this resistance is used as a quenching resistance, 2 W is the minimum for it;
  • C – capacitance 0.1 mKF 250 V.

Note that when implementing this scheme, the lamp may flicker and the brightness may be adjusted intermittently. As a rule, this indicates problems with the dinistor. Actually, the scheme is far from perfect and is given as an example of the simplest implementation.

It should be noted that the lighting level can only be adjusted if an incandescent lamp is used. Considering the power of such a lighting source, implementation will be unprofitable. An alternative is LEDs.

LED circuits

Do it yourself led night light not as difficult as it seems, especially since the miniature nature of such a source allows it to be mounted in almost any beautiful decorative lampshade, for example, a wooden house. An example of such a design is shown in the figure.

The circuit of an LED lamp will be a little more complicated than that of a night light that uses an incandescent lamp. An example of such an implementation is shown in the figure.

The circuit shown in the figure will require the following radio components:

  • D1 - D4 - you can use any rectifier diodes designed for a minimum voltage of 400 V and a current of 400 mA;
  • VD1 – VD4 – any type of ultra-bright LEDs, designed for voltage from 3.0 to 3.6 V;
  • C1 – non-polar capacitor with a capacity of 0.15 µF and a voltage of at least 250 V;
  • C2 – electrolytic type capacitor 10 μF 50 V;
  • Resistors: R1 with a nominal value of 680 kOhm, R2 - 560 Ohm.
  • S1 – any switch.

You can set the night light to turn on automatically when the room gets dark. To do this, you will need to slightly complicate the circuit by adding a switch based on a transistor, as shown in the figure.

Elements added to the diagram:

  • D5 – any zener diode for a voltage of 15 V;
  • RF1 – photoresistor, for example, FSK-1;
  • R3 – variable resistor 470 kOhm, adjusts the response threshold;
  • R4 – 2.2 kOhm;
  • VT1 – transistor KT315G or equivalent.

Note that for normal operation of the circuit, it is necessary to ensure that the light from the night lamp does not fall on the photoresistor.

Phone charger as a power supply

If you still have a charger from your old phone, you can use it to power an LED night light. In this case, it will be necessary to install only a limiting resistance, as shown in the figure.

To calculate resistance R1, you can use the formula derived from Ohm's law:

R1=(U source - U consumption)/I consumption;

Explanation of the formula:

U source – source voltage, y charger, usually 6 volts;

U consumption - consumed voltage, for typical LEDs from 2.8 to 3.6 volts, for calculation it is necessary to take the minimum value, that is, 2.8 V;

I consumption - current consumption, for one LED it is about 20 mA, respectively, for three it will be 60 mA.

In our case, resistance R1 = (6 - 2.8)/0.06 = 53.33, the closest resistor value is 56 Ohms.

Sound control of night light

A sound switch for a night light is not so difficult to make with your own hands; an example of such a circuit is shown in the figure. Thanks to this device, you can turn on the night light without leaving your bed. If you install such a device in a room for newborns, it will turn on the light as soon as the baby starts crying.

List of used radio components:

  • resistors: R1 – 5.6 kOhm, R2 – 3.3 MOhm, R3 – 33 kOhm; R4 – 1.8 kOhm, R5 – 47 kOhm, R6 – 330 Ohm, R7 – from 39 to 150 Ohm (depending on the supply voltage, the calculation is carried out in the same way as described above for charging the phone);
  • capacitors: C1 -0.1 µF, C2 - 4.7 µF 16 V;
  • VD1-VD3 – any ultra-bright LEDs with a current consumption of 20 mA and a voltage of 2.8 to 3.6 volts;
  • transistors: VT1 and VT2 – KT315G, VT3 – KT818B (you can use other transistors with similar characteristics);
  • MIC is a regular headphone microphone.

Note that this device can be used to control devices operating on a 220 volt network. To do this, remove the resistor R7 and the LEDs; instead, install a relay, the coil of which is connected instead of the LEDs, and install a diode, for example, 1N4007 or its equivalent, in parallel with the relay.

TO sound switch a table lamp, wall lamp, floor lamp, garlands, LED strips, as well as any household electrical appliances, including a hood (for example, you can connect a “Treadmill”) can be connected.

After you have chosen the scheme for the night lamp, you can begin to design the device; here everything depends on your imagination. Let's show an example of an original design.

Starry sky

A homemade projector night light will project the starry sky onto the walls of the room.

You can make such an original lampshade for a night light from an ordinary jar or plastic bottle.

For this we need:

  • plastic bottle (it is better to take a regular glass jar with a volume of 0.5 liters);
  • thick foil;
  • scissors and awl.

Manufacturing process:

  1. cut out a rectangle from a piece of foil (so that, rolled into a tube, it fits into the jar) and a circle with a diameter equal to the bottom of the jar;
  2. Using an awl, we pierce holes in the foil that will imitate stars; you can make several constellations, for example, Ursa Major and Ursa Minor. To make the constellations better recognizable, cut stretch lines between the stars in the foil;
  3. place the cut out circle on the bottom of the jar (you can use glue to fix it);
  4. We insert a rectangular piece of foil into the jar so that it completely covers the walls.

The lampshade for the night light is ready. Electronic circuit The devices can be placed in a plastic jar lid.

As you can see, using practically available materials, it is not difficult to make a night light with your own hands. You can come up with your own original and unusual designs; there are no limits to your imagination.

Making any thing for your home with your own hands is a pleasant and useful activity that will show you as an original person, capable of independently making a real masterpiece. Today, many have heard of such a thing as a “starry sky” projector.

But such a projector is quite expensive. Therefore, many craftsmen have developed several options for how you can create a “starry sky” in your home with your own hands. Our article today will talk about these options.

Benefits of using this effect in the home

Night light starry sky"

All people strive to have beauty and comfort in their home. It is especially important to create an atmosphere of romance and comfort. This is achieved using a wide variety of methods. One of effective options Decorate your home using a “starry sky” projector. This effect has several advantages:

  • beautiful decoration for vespers and night time;
  • a spectacular lamp that can be used to create a certain mood: festive, romantic, etc.;
  • the ability to use the projector as a night light;
  • the opportunity to make such a lamp with your own hands.

Note! The “starry sky” effect will decorate any room in an original and unusual way, completely transforming its appearance.

Today, there are several ways to create a “starry sky” in your apartment without using an expensive projector.
To implement this effect you can use:

  • handmade lamp;
  • ceiling, which was specially designed properly. In this situation, not only lamps of a certain design are needed ( Spotlights), but also a special coating.

The simplest one to make is a lamp that you can make yourself from improvised and cheap materials. But if you wish, you can immediately decorate the ceiling in the desired style. It all depends on your desires, creative capabilities and the amount of expenses that you are willing to spend on the implementation of this project.

Features of making a lamp yourself

Starry sky option

It would be very good to make a lamp with your own hands, which plays the role of a projector. Why is it better to make a projector rather than buy one? The answer is obvious if you study in detail all the existing advantages:

  • All materials needed for work can be found at home if desired. If something is not found, then the purchase will not cost too much;
  • you will get your own “starry sky” quite quickly, without spending a lot on a factory model;
  • If you wish, you can create a real star map using a drawing of familiar constellations.

In addition, all the work can be done with a minimum set of materials and tools.
You can create a home projector “starry sky” in various ways. Let's look at several options in more detail to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Making a night light from a tin can

The easiest and fastest way to make a projector with a “starry sky” effect is to use a lamp from an ordinary tin can.
It is worth noting here that absolutely any cans can be used as the basis of a lighting fixture. It is only advisable to give preference to those banks that are of sufficient size. A small tin can won't do much good. It is better to use a container from condensed milk or canned fruit.

Note! The choice of the size of the tin can should be made according to the dimensions of the room. In a small room, the “starry sky” can be realized with a small lamp, but for a large room you can use one large jar or several small ones.

It is also worth noting that to do it yourself you will need a small set of materials and tools. The list of required items includes:

  • tin;
  • an awl or nail (even a bent one will do);
  • paint of any color, but it is advisable to give preference to darker shades: blue, purple, black. This way you can create a suitable lamp in appearance and surroundings;
  • autonomous light source. It can be a regular candle, a portable flashlight, or a stand-alone light bulb.

The process of making such a night light looks like this:

  • Wash the selected tin well. It must not only be washed, but also cleared of the label. This is very important to do, especially if you plan to use a candle as a light source. An open flame can burn the label and cause a fire;
  • Using a nail or an awl, we make through holes in the jar on its side edges and on top;

Note! The holes can be made randomly, or you can use a star map to create familiar outlines of the constellations. IN the latter case you can simply put a design on the jar and make holes in it.

Making holes

  • paint the jar in the chosen color;
  • We put a candle or any other light source and cover it with our finished jar on top. That's it, the lamp is ready.

Ready night light

As you can see, you can make such a lamp with your own hands very quickly, spending about half an hour on it.

Making a night light from foil and a glass jar

In order to make a projector with your own hands, you can use ordinary glass jars. This option for making a night light is simple in that holes are made in foil, which is placed inside a glass jar. Being a thinner material, the foil is easily pierced, unlike the sides of a tin can.
To make such a projector at home, you will need the following materials and tools:

  • glass jar with a screw-on lid;

Note! It is better to take a jar that is not “pot-bellied”, achieving a minimal difference between the diameter of the neck and the container itself.

  • thick foil;
  • awl;
  • ruts;
  • scissors;
  • awl;
  • flashlight or any other lighting device. A regular candle will do. With this design, you can use candles without much danger, since the lamp can be screwed tightly, thereby eliminating the possibility of fire in the apartment.

This projector is made by hand using the following algorithm:

  • We measure the neck of the jar. Using these dimensions, cut out the required piece of foil. When rolled up, it should fit freely in the jar;

Note! When measuring the foil, remember to leave a small gap for “pinching.” If this reserve is not left, the foil will open and a gap will form, which will disrupt the created “starry sky” effect.

Preparing the foil

  • After that, we proceed to making holes in the foil using an awl. Here you can also be guided by a specific hole pattern or do everything chaotically;
  • then we twist the perforated foil into a tube and carefully insert it inside the jar. To prevent the foil from unwinding inside the container, it must be glued at the edges;
  • After that, carefully place a flashlight or candle on the bottom. You should be very careful with the candle so as not to burn the foil. Therefore, to place it, you should use a long wire, which has been given the required shape (in the form of a spatula).

After that, screw the lid on and the projector is ready!

Ready projector

Such a lamp will have a more presentable appearance. In addition, it is more reliable, because the risk of fire is minimized, even if an ordinary candle is used as a light source.

Making a night light from a can and LEDs

The night light, which is made from a can and LEDs, by and large does not relate to star projections, but it looks no less impressive than the two options described earlier. In addition, making such a lamp with your own hands is no more difficult. However, such a projector will cost a little more.
To work you will need:

Ready LED night light

  • glass jar. Some craftsmen recommend using a glass bottle. But the bottle in this situation will not be entirely rational, since it is difficult to place foil and LED strip in such a container;
  • foil made of dense material;
  • LED strip or several LEDs;
  • drill;
  • awl.

Here, the process of manufacturing a lighting device, an analogue of a “starry sky” projector, follows the same scheme as for a glass jar. The differences here are that LED strip is used as a light source. Because of this, such a design will cost a little more, since LED is not very cheap.
But here some difficulties arise with the installation of related equipment (power supply when using an LED strip). To do this, you will have to drill a hole in the glass and thread a wire through it.

LEDs give a beautiful glow that will give the evening or night a special charm.

Universe on the ceiling

You can also create a “starry sky” in the room using spotlights and special finishing of the ceiling surface. Spotlights will look great on suspended ceiling, whose surface was originally stylized to resemble the night sky.

Ceiling in the style of "starry sky"

Making such a ceiling with your own hands is quite problematic due to the complexity of installing a tension covering, which requires special construction equipment.
In this situation great importance have spotlights that should help achieve the desired effect.
Of course, if you are not a professional builder, then it is unlikely that you will be able to make such a ceiling yourself. But this option is too beautiful not to be mentioned at least in passing. If you dream of “settling” an entire galaxy on your ceiling, then the best way can not found.

Conclusion

As you can see, you can create an analogue of the starry sky on your ceiling yourself using improvised means that you can easily find in the house. Any such lamp will become a worthy decoration for your apartment.

Using LED strip for cabinet lighting

This article describes the most interesting master classes on creating your own unique night light.

Almost all children love to fall asleep under the mysterious and soft light from a night light. But what can we hide, even adults like the cozy atmosphere it creates. And it’s even more cozy to build a night light yourself!

Do-it-yourself night light floating in the air: photo, description

In order to make such a night light with your own hands, you will need:

  • A hacksaw designed for woodworking, or a jigsaw as an alternative
  • An ordinary drill or screwdriver with a set of drills
  • Glue gun
  • White wood paint with brush
  • Scissors
  • Sandpaper
  • Wooden slats. One needs to be selected so that its length is equal to 210 cm, and according to the parameters - 1.5x1.5 cm. The length of the second should be 60 cm, and the parameters are 3x3 cm.
  • Lamp with fluorescent or LED socket
  • Power cord equipped with switch and plug
  • A4 paper - plain white
  • Transparent multi-colored plastic

IMPORTANT: If this is difficult to find, you can purchase the most ordinary colored paper folder at any office supply store.

You can get started:

  • First of all, pieces are cut out of the slats. You need to make 8 pcs. By 1.5x1.5x13 cm, 3 pcs. By 1.5x1.5x25 cm, 1 PC. By 1.5x1.5x23 cm, 4 things. By 3x3x12 cm.
  • Now the pieces with sides along 13 cm need to be glued with the blocks along 25 cm. You need to use glue for connection. You need to hold the frame at least 5 minutes, Otherwise, good gluing will not work.
  • Further bars along 23 and 25 cm glued to the bars 13 cm.

  • Now you can build base. These will be pieces 12 cm– they need to be glued together.

  • Frames are glued together among themselves, as a result of which the master receives a cube.

IMPORTANT: It is necessary to allow time for the cube to dry. It is preferable to press it down on top with weights - this way the gluing will be better.

  • After the workpiece has dried, you can start making holes under the power cord.

  • You need to remember that the holes are definitely worth clean with sandpaper.
  • Next is do the stand. Marking it correctly is almost the main task of the master. Here lies the answer to the question of how the night light is going to float in the air. The fact is that the cube should move slightly relative to the base, and the latter should not be noticeable as a result. You will get the optical effect of floating in the air.

  • Then the base and the cube are glued together and left for some time to dry.

IMPORTANT: If you glue the base and the cube together incorrectly, all the zest of the idea will be lost. Therefore, it is very important to pay at this stage especially close attention.

  • Now you can paint the workpiece white paint. Everything is painted - both the frames and the bottom.
  • Next you need to awaken the electrician in you, passing the wire into the previously made holes, collecting the cartridge and connecting the wire.
  • The wire is fixed hot glue from a gun.

  • The cartridge is also glued. But already to the base of the workpiece.

  • Sheets are cut from colored folders, equal in parameters to the sides of the cube. These will be light filters. They are glued to the sides of the cube so that they end up from the inside lamp

  • And here front end pasted over with regular paper.

DIY night light in the form of a starry sky: master class, photographs

This type of night light is very popular. In order to create it, you will need:

  • Made in foil holes, which will later become stars on the walls.

IMPORTANT: If you want to create not just chaotic stars, but real constellations, you can cut them out purposefully. Then the night light will also be educational.

  • The ends of the workpiece are glued and placed inside the jar. The jar should ultimately be completely sealed from the inside with foil.
  • Foil sticks to the inside of the can.
  • Then it remains put a flashlight on the bottom and turn it on at night.

DIY night light from a tea can: description, photo

Surely many people have unnecessary containers in their home. Eg, tea jar. It also makes a great lamp. You just need to stock up on the following things:

  • With the jar itself
  • A sheet of scrap paper that matches the parameters of the jar
  • A sheet of cardboard
  • Acrylic paint
  • Sandpaper
  • With a knife

  • Superglue
  • Incandescent lamp and socket for it
  • Power cord and switch

Now you can start making a night light with your own hands:

  • If the sheet scrap paper more necessary parameters, then you need cut the required piece for a jar. It is necessary to take into account that the top will also have to be decorated. The fact is that the jar will be upside down and the bottom will be up.
  • Sheet sticks per jar.
  • Next from plain paper an oval is cut out. For convenience, you can circle the lid of the jar - it should just have an oval shape.
  • Cut out oval attaches to the side of the can using masking tape.

IMPORTANT: You must remember to circle the oval with a pencil.

  • Further along the outlined contour a window is cut out right in the bank.
  • The edges are being cleared sandpaper.
  • Now to a blank sheet of paper the same oval is applied again. It is outlined and cut out, but only inside should stripes remain.
  • This oval is worth glue to the inside of the jar so that it covers the window.
  • Left decorate the night light to your liking. Acrylic paint, threads, paper, buttons, ribbons - whatever your heart desires.
  • Now the technical points. At the back of the can you need to cut a neat hole for the cord.
  • You need to cut out the lid of the jar hole for the cartridge.
  • Socket, switch and electrical plug are going together.

IMPORTANT: Only then is the socket secured in the jar and the lamp screwed into it.

  • Above putting on a night light jar- and now the craft is ready!

  • LED light bulb, or many light bulbs
  • Thick thread

The operating procedure is as follows:

  • In a lampshade or in a wire frame a light bulb is placed.
  • Through the lampshade the thread is held- the night light will be attached to the ceiling using it.
  • From cotton wool a cloud forms. The fluffier the better. The cotton wool is attached using glue, which just needs to be applied a little to each piece.

IMPORTANT: If the hole in the lampshade is noticeable, it must also be sealed with cotton wool.

  • All that remains is to attach the night light to the ceiling- and the storm cloud is ready!

As readers can see, it is not at all necessary to be an expert in order to assemble your own night light. A little patience and careful following of the master classes - and now the cozy interior detail is ready!

Master class on making a night light from wood:

If anyone has any unused pieces LED strips, suitable housings from garlands or other devices, you can assemble a small bedside night light using one (triple) LED 5050UW3C. The basis was taken from the diagram of an LED night light in a switch from Radio magazine; the block can be placed in a switch and used:

To simplify and compact the installation, I quickly made a small scarf, assembled it and tried it out:

The capacitor for the lamp is 0.33x630V - this is for an LED current of 20 mA. In the forum posts there is a simple table on the current consumption of a group of LEDs for different film capacitors. Photo of the finished product LED lamps and signet:

In principle, it is quite enough as a night light, these LEDs have a brightness of 7000 mCandells (7 lm) and as a simple night light it is just right. This is an ordinary LED from a strip with an operating voltage of one element of 3.2 V - it has 3 crystals at 20 mA, there are 3 of them in each section connected in series at 12 V, they themselves do not heat up.

It turned out something like those night lights that are sold for children's cribs or for orientation in the dark at night. Well, the flask is a plastic pressed crumb, all the same supplies from Soviet garlands, 3 pieces left, I previously collected it on it.

I screwed it to the bottom of the case and also glued a disassembled industrial plug for reliability; they are in plastic, I take them apart and use them.

I tested the lamp for several hours, for greater reliability, I think the half-watt resistor should be replaced with 1 W, since although it does not heat up so much, it does heat up. Well, since the case allows it, I’ll put a small 100 uF electrolyte at the output of the diode bridge - it won’t hurt. Author - Igoran.

Discuss the article HOW TO MAKE A NIGHT LIGHT

Modern night lights are convenient and ergonomic lighting sources. They complement the interior of any room well and can become a real decorative element. In a children's room, a night light will help the baby feel safe, and a hand-made lamp can also be presented as a handmade souvenir.

Benefits of a night light

The advantages of a homemade lamp can be considered the following points:

  • creating a special pleasant atmosphere on the eve of sleep;
  • the ability to navigate in the dark without waking up family members with the main light;
  • reducing children's fear of the dark;
  • energy savings;
  • adding decorative elements to the overall interior;
  • additional visual effects to develop children's imagination.

Night light starry sky"

One of the most current and romantic night light models, to one degree or another, imitates an endless cluster of constellations in the night sky. You can make such a light source yourself from scrap materials. It does not need to be connected to the network, because there is enough regular flashlight with pinky batteries.

To create such a night light, you need a glass jar with a lid of any size, thick foil, scissors, an awl, a small flashlight and any surface that is not afraid of damage, for example, a tray.

  1. Draw a star map on the foil. You can arrange celestial objects schematically or following the real arrangement of stars. It all depends on your desires and level of effort. If you are making a similar night light for a child, you can limit yourself to the image of the constellations Ursa Major and Ursa Minor.
  2. Place the sheet on a flat surface and use an awl to make holes. These will be the luminous stars.
  3. Trim the foil so that its height matches the height of the jar. Roll the sheet into a tube and insert it into a glass container.
  4. Place a flashlight at the bottom of the jar and turn it on. The walls and ceiling will immediately be illuminated by the beautiful glow of the night light.

There is another option to make a children's night light that imitates the night sky. It can be made from an ordinary tin can. Such a container should be cleaned, the label removed, painted in any pleasant color and several holes made with an awl. Inside the jar you need to put a flashlight, a garland or a lit candle. It is advisable to close the edges of the jar plastic cover so that none of the family members get hurt.

This version of the lamp can be an ideal romantic gift or bedroom decoration. To make a night light with your own hands, as a decorative element and a light source, you need to purchase a lace fabric. It can have different colors and patterns, depending on your preferences. You will also need a dry and clean jar, scissors with thread, and a flashlight with batteries.

  1. Wrap the container with lace so that it does not protrude beyond the edges and does not overlap the edges. Remove excess parts.
  2. Sew the edges of the lace to create a sleeve that matches the diameter of the jar. You can work on a sewing machine or by hand.
  3. Place the sleeve on the jar, place the flashlight inside and screw on the lid.

Using available materials, it is quite possible to build a large homemade lamp that can decorate not only a nursery or bedroom, but the entire room. To create such a miracle, you will need an original tin or plastic tea can. You also need paper for scrapbooking, stationery cardboard, a paper knife, acrylic paints, glue, sandpaper, masking tape. And since in this case we are making not just a night light, but a lamp, we need to prepare a light bulb socket, an incandescent light bulb itself, a power cord and a switch.

  1. Cut out a sheet of scrap paper that can be used to completely wrap the jar. Please note that the bottom of the tea bag will be the top of the lamp.
  2. Remove the lid from the jar, lean it against a piece of paper, trace it with a pencil and cut it out.
  3. Connect the cut out template to the wrapped jar using masking tape. Trace a circle with a pencil.
  4. Using your markings, cut out the window. Sand the edges with sandpaper.
  5. Re-trace the oval template onto the cardstock. Draw stripes inside it and cut out some of them.
  6. Glue the cardboard to the jar on the inside.
  7. You can decorate the outside of the jar as you wish, using paper, cardboard, acrylic threads, lace, etc.
  8. At the back of the lamp, cut a circle for the power cord. You need to make a hole in the lid for the cartridge.
  9. Assemble a socket with a light bulb, a switch and an electrical plug into a circuit.
  10. Place the socket in the jar, screw in the light bulb.
  11. Assemble the lamp and check its operation by plugging it into an outlet.

Night light for a child

When creating a lamp for a children's room at home, the most important thing is to use your imagination as much as possible. In addition, you can involve your baby in creating a night light and combine business with pleasure.

Prepare a glass ball or spherical shade for the lamp. You will also need a large amount of tulle or tulle, glue and several lanterns, or better yet, a garland for the Christmas tree.

  1. Cut out a large number of small circles from the fabric.
  2. Take a dry and clean lampshade, gather circles of tulle or tulle into a “rosette”. Fix the fabric flower on the lampshade with glue, dropping just a little into the very middle of the rose. This way you will create a fluffy ball.
  3. Place a flashlight or inside the lampshade. Show the result to your baby and watch his joyful reaction.

LED night light

To make an unusual and beautiful LED night light that can be placed in a nursery, you need to prepare a pair of transparent plastic tubes with unequal diameters. You will also need LEDs with the desired brightness and color scheme. Also prepare glass pebbles, wire, a larger cork, superglue, pliers and a board for the LEDs.

  1. Bend the ends of the LEDs with pliers.
  2. All led light bulbs connect with a piece of wire parallel circuit, observing polarity.
  3. Connect the ends of the wire to the board.
  4. Check the working part of the night light, if the LEDs get very hot, add a resistor to the circuit.
  5. Glue the tubes one into the other. Place decorative balls into the void.
  6. Place the LED plug onto the tube. If the diameter of the plug is larger than the tube, make a seal from a leather belt.
  7. The LED night light is ready, you can turn it on.

Safety of night lighting

As is clear from the above examples, there are a huge number of designer models of homemade lamps. There are different techniques for working with decorative materials to create a variety of lighting effects.

However, behind the beauty of the night light, you should not forget about the safety of yourself and your family. To this end, you should be especially careful when considering the power supply circuit for the light source.

Many home craftsmen believe that compact nightlights have minimal power and low voltage, which in itself should protect against problems. This is not entirely true. A voltage of 12 volts for a halogen light bulb or 3 volts for an LED power supply does not pose a threat to the human body. However, if a short circuit occurs, an electrical arc will form at the point of contact. At the same moment, a current will pass through the wires, which can heat the insulation to the point of fire. In this case, the power supply may operate in overload mode, but the shield will not react. That is why it is necessary to protect the wiring of such light sources with a fuse. After the electrical wiring at the output of the power supply is protected, you need to pay attention to the electrical safety of the board itself. It is enclosed in a reliable housing, which is especially important for lamps in children's rooms, where children may try to disassemble the night light.
