How to make a vase from a plastic bottle. Make a vase from a plastic bottle with your own hands

Useful tips

If you want to decorate the interior, then start with a simple craft, such as a vase, which can be made from old plastic or glass bottles using paper, twigs, tubes, newspapers and magazines, and many other materials.

There are a huge number of master classes on making vases with your own hands.

Some of the most interesting and at the same time quite simple vases you can find here.

DIY paper vase. Kaleidoscope of flowers.

An ordinary glass jar or bottle can be turned into a colorful vase. To do this, you just need to cover the container with small pieces of corrugated paper of different colors.

It is better to use a container made of transparent glass, and for gluing the paper you can use either a special glue for decoupage or regular PVA glue, which must be diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio.

We weave the bottom of the vase:

Make 4 bundles of 4 strands

Fold all the strands crosswise

In turn, “launch” each tourniquet in a circle so that it wraps around the rest of the tourniquets

The first 3 rows are woven in a similar way. After this, the four strands need to be divided in pairs and weave 3 more rows in the already familiar way - you should already have 6 rows of weaving

Wrap each strand separately to get a bottom like this:

3. Weave the walls of the floor vase:

Protruding paper tubes need to be folded up

Start braiding each tube - you should have a vase leg formed

Prepare a pan lid or any other disc-shaped object wider than the bottom of the vase

Insert the cap between the paper tube drains

* The lower the lid, the wider the vase will be.

Using the already familiar technique, you need to weave 10 more rows

Now you need to start bringing the edges of the strands-stands closer together - preparing the neck of the vase

The neck of the vase needs to be braided until you reach the stage when you will need to braid two stand strands instead of one

Now spread the strands apart again and start weaving the rim of the vase

Take turns bending one post after another.

Vase with Flowers will easily improve your mood even on the saddest day. Almost everyone in their apartment has one or several vases. But remember, you can’t have too many vases – it’s nice to change and decorate them sometimes. An excellent solution to replenish your current supplies would be a do-it-yourself vase made from plastic bottles.

List of the main advantages of such a vase:

  • Inexpensive material.
  • The ease of creating such a craft.
  • Such a vase will never break, which means it can last forever.
  • If you get tired of the vase, you can make a new vase and throw away the previous one without any problems.

Now we will analyze several master classes on creating a vase at home. You can follow the advice completely, or you can add your own details and flair.

Vase painted with spray can master class

To create this vase we will need:

  • Plastic bottles.
  • Primer.
  • Spray can with paint of any color.
  • Sharp scissors.
  • Scotch.

Step-by-step description of the work:

  • Step 1 - Preparing the product.

We select clean bottles and cut off the top of the product.

Paste over cut edge with tape so that when using a vase, the top does not cut off the flowers. Check if it fits securely on the bottle.

  • Step 2 - Primer.

We prepare the product for painting by first applying a layer of primer to it. This way the paint will adhere well and last much longer.

  • Step 3 - Painting.

Spray the product with paint from a can and leave until completely dry. We do this procedure outside or at home, after covering the floor with paper so as not to stain anything.

Important advice.

If you want to make a vase using several colors of paint, then first, apply one of the colors, let it dry completely, and then stick tape over the place where you want to add the second color and spray, after it has completely dried, remove the tape. Be sure to wait for the first paint to dry completely, otherwise the tape will ruin everything and then they will rip together.

Vase in decoupage style master class

Another method for plastic bottle decoration– use napkins for decoupage. They make it possible to create a huge range of designs. You can also make a hanging vase.

  • Napkins.
  • Fastenings for napkins (brushes, special glue).
  • Sharp scissors.
  • Special braid for decoration.
  • Hole puncher.
  • Glue gun.

Step-by-step description of the work:

  • Step 1 - Trimming.

We cut off and discard the top of the bottle, leaving only the bottom part.

Using materials for working with decoupage attach the napkin you took on the bottom of the product.

  • Step 2 - Attaching the rope.

To make it easier to hang the vase, you need to attach a rope.

First, use a hole punch to create two holes near the top edge, they should be specifically opposite each other.

Take a rope of a certain length and tie it to both holes.

  • Step 3 - Braid for decoration.

Using a glue gun, we attach our braid with pompoms to the edge of the top of the vase. Your handmade craft is ready!

DIY vase made from a bottle and threads

This method is suitable for creating vases for dried flowers, flower pots or ordinary baskets. It turns out very original and very beautiful.

Materials required for work:

  • Large plastic bottle.
  • Threads.

Step-by-step work process:

  • Step 1 - Trimming

Cut the craft in half, leaving only the bottom part. Cut the sides of the half from the bottom into an even number of strips of equal size. We will weave a couple of layers of yarn onto them.

  • Step 2 - Create a weave.

It is better to take thick yarn, and it looks prettier and weaves twice as fast. Braid the strips one at a time: the first in front, the next in back. We continue working until we reach the top. You can take one color, melange thread, or alternate several different shades.

  • Step 3 - Finish the edge on top.

It is necessary to attach a strip of material on top so that the edge does not prick and the threads do not fall. To do this, first, wrap the end of the thread in the middle of the vase under a layer of woven threads, and then sew a strip of fabric onto the edge of the craft with large stitches. That's all, the craft is ready.

Do-it-yourself master class set of vases

You can make a whole set of vases from small square plastic products. Materials required for work:

  • Six small square plastic bottles.
  • Scotch.
  • Ribbons of different colors.

Step-by-step work process:

  • Step 1 - Put the bottles together.

Let's take six simple clean products and place them side by side in two rows of three pieces each. Next, we wrap them all together with tape to secure them well together.

  • Step 2 - Decor.

We wrap the entire structure of bottles with different ribbons, in several levels above each other.

We insert a small number of flowers into each product so that at the end we get one large bouquet. That's all, your DIY craft is ready! After completing these master classes, you can start making floor vases from plastic bottles.

A vase of flowers can lift your spirits even on the gloomiest day. Surely, every home has one or more vases, but there are never too many of them - after all, it’s nice to change and alternate them from time to time, and not use the same one from year to year. A wonderful solution to replenish existing supplies would be a vase made by hand from plastic bottles.

  1. cheap material (at the same time, recycling of plastic is a plus in karma from environmentalists),
  2. ease of manufacture , wide range of options,
  3. like this the vase won't break , which is very important if you have children, cats or dogs at home.
  4. And also, when you get tired of one, you can make a new one and throw away the previous one without any remorse.

We offer 6 master classes on making a vase at home. You can strictly follow them, or add your own elements, it should turn out beautifully.

Spray painted vase

Necessary materials:

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Preparing the Bottles

  • Make sure the bottles are clean.
  • Cut off the top of the bottle.
  • Cover the cut edge with electrical tape so that when using the vase, the top edge does not cut the flowers. Make sure it stays firmly on the bottle.

Step 2: Primer

Prepare the bottle for painting by first applying a layer of primer to it. This way the paint will adhere better and last longer.

Step 3: Painting

Spray the bottle with spray paint and leave until completely dry. Do this procedure outside, or cover the floor with newspapers to avoid getting dirty.

ADVICE: If you want to make a non-vase with multiple colors of paint (like gold and black, like in the photo), then apply one of the colors first, leave to dry completely, then apply tape over the area where you want to add the second color and spray , also leave until completely dry, remove the electrical tape.

Be sure to wait for the first paint to dry, otherwise the duct tape will ruin it and then they will come off together.

These are such wonderful vases!

ATTENTION: If you use bottles made of thicker plastic (yogurt bottles, for example), then you don’t have to cover the top edge with anything. Carefully trim the top, and if there is a hangnail sticking out, just file it down a little.

Vase in decoupage style

Another way to decorate a plastic bottle is to use decoupage napkins. They make it possible to apply a huge range of designs. Also, as an option, we suggest making this vase hanging.

Necessary materials:

  • napkins for decoupage
  • materials for attaching napkins (brush, glue)
  • scissors
  • decorative braid with pompoms
  • hole puncher
  • glue gun

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Trimming

  • Trim and discard the top of the bottle, leaving only the bottom.
  • Using decoupage materials, attach the napkin of your choice to the bottom of the bottle.

Step 2: Attach the rope

In order for the vase to be hung, a rope must be attached.

  • First, use a hole punch to make two holes near the top edge, they should be located diametrically opposite each other.
  • Take a rope of the required length and tie it to both holes.

Step 3: Pompom Braid

All that remains is to make the final decorative element. Using a hot glue gun, attach the pom pom string to the top edge of the vase.

All is ready! Hang it in your apartment or garden, place flowers inside and enjoy!

Vase made of bottle and threads

This method is suitable for making vases for dried flowers, flower pots or just baskets. It turns out quite unusual, and it is not at all clear that a plastic bottle was used here.

Necessary materials:

  • wide plastic bottle
  • Knitting

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Trimming

Cut the bottle in half, leaving only the bottom part. Cut the sides of the bottom half into an even number of equally sized strips. We will weave layers of yarn onto them.

Step 2: Weaving

It is better to use thick yarn, it looks more beautiful and weaves faster. Braid the stripes one at a time: the first in the front, the next in the back, and so on. Continue until you reach the top. You can use one color, melange threads, or alternating several different colors.

Step 3: Finishing the Top Edge

You need to attach a strip of fabric (or braid) on top so that the edge does not prick and the threads do not fall apart. To do this, first wrap the end of the thread in the middle of the vase under a layer of woven threads, and then sew a strip of fabric onto the edge of the vase using large stitches. Now the vase is ready to decorate your home interior!

Set of vases

From small square plastic bottles you can make a whole set of vases. And here you don’t even have to cut anything.

Necessary materials:

  • 6 identical small square plastic bottles
  • Scotch
  • Multi-colored ribbons

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Putting the Bottles Together

Take six identical clean bottles and place them side by side in two rows of three. Now wrap them all together with tape to secure them tightly together.

  • Wrap the structure of bottles with multi-colored ribbons, in several levels on top of each other.
  • Insert evenly small amounts of flowers into each bottle to end up with one large bouquet.

Hanging vase in the garden

You can not only put cut flowers into plastic bottles, but also grow live plants. We suggest making a small hanging pot that can be attached to a tree in the garden, fence or veranda.

Necessary materials:

  • Plastic bottle with thick material (for example, shampoo, detergent)
  • Stationery knife or scissors
  • Marker
  • Hole punch or awl
  • Soil and plant

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Trimming

You need to cut the bottle as shown in the photo, not just horizontally. This way we leave room for fastening.

Step 2: Hanging Hole

  1. Using a hole punch or awl, make a hole on top of the protruding side of the bottle.
  2. Using a marker (preferably a permanent one, so that the design does not deteriorate after the first rain) apply patterns to the top edge of the bottle (or paint completely, to your taste).

Step 3: Plant the plant

All that remains is to plant the plant in the newly made pot and attach it to a nail in the chosen place.

Another variant

We also offer another option, which is done in a similar way.

Two liter Sprite bottles were used here. Since the plastic is thinner than that of a shampoo bottle, make two holes for hanging (one may simply not support the weight of the pot with soil). Can also be used as vases for wildflowers.

Flowerpot

Everyone loves cats (or at least most of them). Decorate your apartment with this cute vase and it will bring a smile to your face every time.

Necessary materials:

  • Large plastic bottle (2 liters)
  • Stationery knife
  • Spray can with white paint
  • Markers (black and light pink)
  • Flowers

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Cleaning the Bottle

Remove the label from the plastic bottle and wash it thoroughly (so that there are no traces of sweet water in the middle or glue from the label on the outside).

Step 2: Mark the location of the drawing

Mark how tall you want your vase to be and draw a horizontal line around the entire bottle. It should not be too high for the cat to turn out nice.

Step 3: Draw a cat

On one side of the bottle, above the horizontal line you just drew, draw two ears, as shown in the photo.

Step 4: Cut it out

Now cut out the bottom of the plastic bottle along the outlined contour. Be especially careful with the ears so that they are even and uniform.

Step 5: Preparing for Painting

  • Cover the floor with newspapers or boxes to avoid getting dirty while painting.
  • Before painting, you can apply a coat of primer to help the paint adhere better.

Step 6: Painting

Apply white spray paint to the bottle. Make sure that the layer is uniform and there are no transparent areas left.

Step 7: Draw the cat

Now the fun part: drawing the cat. You can copy from a photo or come up with your own.

All that remains is to put the flowers in the vase; it is low, so a small bouquet of short-cut flowers will do. You can also add soil and plant a houseplant.

Look how beautiful it turns out, I am absolutely delighted with this vase!

Vase with a muzzle

A funny vase or pot with a face will add a cheerful note to your home atmosphere.

Necessary materials:

  • Plastic bottle (2 l)
  • Stationery knife or scissors
  • Decorative eyes
  • Flat bottle caps (in two-liter bottles they are very tall, it’s better to take yogurt ones)
  • Superglue (or glue gun)
  • Flowers or soil with plant

Step-by-step instruction:

Step 1: Trimming

  • Cut the bottle (not too high) and leave only the bottom part.
  • Glue on decorative eyes and a plug nose. The cork can be mounted up or down, at your discretion.

Step 2: Arrange flowers or plant plants

If you use it as a vase, just put flowers in it; if you use it as a pot, fill it with soil and plant the plant.

This is what you should end up with:

Advice: plastic vases are lightweight and therefore not very durable. You can increase stability by placing a few pebbles inside at the bottom; the vase will become heavier and will not turn over and fall.

Vase made of plastic bottles, decorated with paper flowers. Master class with step-by-step photos

Author: Natalya Aleksandrovna Ermakova, Teacher, Municipal budgetary educational institution of additional education for children “Children’s Art School named after A. A. Bolshakov”, Velikiye Luki, Pskov region

Description: The work can be done with children 8-11 years old. The material can be useful to teachers, parents, and anyone who is interested in creativity.

Purpose: interior decoration.

Target: creating a vase from plastic bottles and toilet paper.

Tasks:
-introduce children to the technology of making vases from plastic bottles and toilet paper;
-develop eye, fine motor skills, sense of composition and color scheme of work;
-develop imagination and artistic taste.

We will need materials:
-plastic bottles with a capacity of 1.5 liters and 6 liters (the container can be of any size)
- wide tape, scissors
-PVA glue
-toilet paper (cheap-hard) 2-3 rolls
- white water-based paint
-gouache
-brushes
-gels with glitter
-acrylic varnish (you can use any)
- a container for diluting glue, it should be wide so that your hand can fit there
- a cloth for hands

Progress of the master class:

We begin work by cutting the necks of the bottles so that one fits on top of the other. It is more convenient to do this with nail scissors.

Then we fasten the bottles using tape. We dilute the glue, mix it with warm water (you can also use cold water), the consistency of the liquid resembles cream.

Now, with a large brush, lubricate the bottle with glue, tear off a small piece of paper and apply it to this place. Then we go over the paper with a brush and glue. The paper is folded, creating a relief surface of the future vase.

Well, now the vase needs to dry, or dry out slightly.

When the vase is dry, we begin to sculpt the flower arrangement. We will sculpt flower buds and leaves, this is how they will look, and below is the manufacturing process.

For the leaf, take a small piece of paper and fold it into two or three layers.

Dip the folded paper in glue and squeeze it lightly.

We form a leaf and apply it to the desired place. All this is done at once by hand: folded, moistened, squeezed, shaped and glued.

Now flowers, crumple some pieces of paper. Fold a square of paper in two or three layers. We bend the corners inward under the bottom of the square, and give it the shape of a flower cup.

They dipped it in glue, squeezed it out and placed it in its place.

We begin to come up with a composition.

Under the weight of the glue, the paper elements may fall off; be patient; as soon as the excess moisture disappears, they will hold on well. And when the vase dries, the flowers will become hard.

We decorate the top of the vase with leaves; you need to bend them a little inward to hide the sharp edges of the vase.

Again we let the work dry, the process is long depending on the amount of glue and air temperature.

The vase has dried, prime it with water-based paint, paint over every fold and hole. If you add some kind of gouache color to the paint, you get very delicate tones, you can use them for the background of the phase. Please note that if you use tinted water-based paint, it will become very light when it dries.

Let the paint dry and start working with gouache, move on to the color scheme, apply the main tones of the vase (yellow, green, crimson).

Add light green paint to the leaves; I use ready-made gouache colors.

Now let's add light green color to the leaves near the flowers. Let's add light shades of the same color around the entire composition.

We bring flowers to life, working with white gouache. Draw white lines on the edges of the petals.

Then with a dry brush we stretch the white color into the main color, draw the white core of the flowers. This is how we decorate all the flowers.

Using the tip of a brush with white paint, outline the contours of all the leaves of the vase. Then we outline them in black.

This is the vase we got, let’s move on to working with shiny gels. We decorate the flowers and leaves with glitter, and when dry, coat the vase with varnish.

Ah, that’s what my kids did!

A vase from plastic bottles can be made very easily and quickly. Please note that if you are going to use paper or any other easily wet materials for decoration, then only dried flowers can be placed in such a vase.

And when making flower pots, do not forget to make small holes in the bottom so that the water does not stagnate.

Step by step lesson #1

You will need:
plastic bottle;
stationery knife;
marker.
1. Take a clean and dry plastic bottle and use a marker to mark the desired height of the vase on it. Please note that the edge of the vase will be wicker, so the mark should be placed approximately 7.5 - 8 cm above the desired level. Using a utility knife, cut off the top of the bottle.

2. Along the top edge of the bottle, make vertical cuts at equal distances from each other to a depth of 7.5 - 8 cm.

3. Carefully bend the resulting strips outward. To ensure an even fold, turn the bottle over and press it against a flat surface (for example, a table).

4. Now you need to “braid” the edge of the vase. To do this, take one strip, bend it to the left and, having passed one strip, tuck it under the other two.

You can make a lot of different toys out of plastic toys, such as a penguin, a boat, a peacock and even a tree!
5. Fold the next strip to the left as well, but this time skip two strips and tuck them under the third.

Repeat until you have woven the edge and all the strips have been braided.

If desired, you can paint the vase in any color you like using acrylic paint or spray paint from a can.

Master class No. 2

You will need:
2 liter plastic bottle;
grains of peas, beans or beans;
a stationery knife, a ruler, a marker, a hot glue gun and a can of spray paint.
1. First, cut the neck of the bottle at the desired height.
2. Using a marker, draw vertical stripes from the cut to the bottom of the bottle, placing them at the same distance from each other.
3. Using a hot glue gun, glue the grains to the surface of the bottle, placing them along the previously drawn lines.
4. After this, paint the vase with spray paint and leave to dry.

DIY vase No. 3

You will need:
empty plastic bottle;
colored paper;
glue stick;
scissors;
knife.
1. Wash and dry the plastic bottle thoroughly, then mark the desired vase height. Cut off the neck.

2. Take paper of the color you would like to paste over the inside of the vase and tear it into small pieces and glue them onto the inside surface of the vase. Continue gluing until you cover the entire plastic surface with paper.

3. Wipe off excess glue with a napkin and smooth the seams with your fingers so that the surface is more or less smooth.

4. Do the same on the outside of the vase, this time choosing paper in a contrasting color.

Once the work is finished, trim off any excess paper edges that are sticking out.

Lesson #4

You will need:

2 plastic bottles;
scissors;
stationery knife;
glue or tape (optional).
1. Wash the bottles, tear off the labels and cut off the necks.
2. Using a utility knife, cut the bottles into petals as shown in the picture and bend them outward. Secure them in this position with tape or glue.
3. Paint the pots and decorate them with decorative plastic flowers, beads, etc.

Make small holes in the bottom of each pot for water.
