Funny flower pots can decorate a child's room. Making them yourself is very simple. Even children can cope with this task. They themselves can decorate such a flowerpot at their own discretion.

Materials

To make a flowerpot from polymer clay with your own hands, prepare:

  • polymer clay;
  • container with water;
  • paints;
  • brush;
  • paper plate.

Step 1. Take a piece of polymer clay. Roll it into a ball about the same size as a flower pot. Try to make the ball the correct shape.

Step 2. Place the ball on the work surface. Use your finger to mark the middle of the ball and gently press it inward. The distance between the recess and the table at the bottom of the plant pot should be about 5 - 7 mm. Expand the resulting depression with your fist.

Step 3. Start pulling out the side walls of the resulting workpiece. Do this with your hands, giving the walls of the pots the desired shape. Shape the edge of the pot.

Step 4. Once the basic shape of the planter is ready, take a container of water and wet your fingers in it. Smooth out any cracks or uneven spots on the pot. If necessary, adjust the shape, if desired, leave patterns, signs or hieroglyphs on the front side.

Step 5. Send finished work into the oven. When determining time and temperature, follow the polymer clay manufacturer's recommendations. In this case, the pot was put in the oven for half an hour at 190 degrees.

Step 6. Remove the pot from the oven and let it cool completely. Cover the outside of the pot with white acrylic paint. This will be the base layer.

Step 7. Color the pots according to your own taste and desire. In addition to paints, you and your children can use various glitter, decoupage materials, etc.

Exclusive and stylish decoration flower pots plays an important role in interior design and creating a certain mood in the entire room. But purchasing colorful and attractive pots in a store is not a cheap pleasure, and affordable products do not look as presentable.

Therefore, it is worth decorating unsightly pots yourself and improving their appearance according to your taste and desire, and then you will be able to show off to your friends the original flower pots you created with your own hands.

The beginning of the transformation

There are many different ways to transform old or tatty pots. For this you can absolutely use different materials located in the house. The main thing is to give free rein to your imagination and apply a little diligence, and your mini-garden inside the house will acquire new shades.

Before starting the creative process, you should prepare well, study the relevant materials and photos of hand-made flower pots. It is also worth considering whether you need to spend money on buying cheap and unsightly pots, or whether it is better to make them yourself.

Nowadays, handmade products, the so-called hand-made, are highly valued. In addition, you will receive the required volume of the pot and an exclusive option for shape and finish.

Polymer clay pots

Ideas on how to make a flower pot yourself can be found on the relevant websites. Polymer clay is the most commonly used material for creating flower pots. To make small pots, you will need: a dessert spoon, polymer clay and a stove.

First, the clay needs to be thoroughly kneaded to a soft plastic consistency. After which a ball is formed and placed in the freezer for 10 minutes. This is necessary so that the clay is slightly hardened, and it is easy to form the desired shape of the pot and decorative elements from it.

The next stage of work is to create a recess inside the pot. Using a spoon, scoop out the unnecessary clay from inside the ball and return it to the cold.

From the outside of the ball, give the desired shape to the pot. For example, round or oval in the form of a flowerpot. Using a knife, you can make the shape square. A very interesting option is the unusual shape of the pot: abstraction or figurative modeling.

The formed product must be hardened (fired) in the oven. In the instructions for using clay, check the recommended temperature regime and production features.

Next comes the most enjoyable part of the job - decorating the surface of the pot. For interiors in the style of minimalism, you don’t need to apply decorations to the pots, but other styles can get along perfectly with painted and colorful elements.

Various decorative techniques are used to decorate the surface of the pot. Decoupage would also be appropriate.

Cement pots

Based on the name of the material used, it already becomes clear to everyone that the product will be highly durable and original. Such products will perfectly decorate outdoor garden areas, public gardens and home mini-gardens.

A detailed master class on flower pots will help you understand in detail all stages of the process. So, to create a large container, you will need to create formwork. But today, we will talk about the production of a medium-sized pot.

First you need to cut top part at plastic bottle volume 5 liters so that you get a square bowl. The inside needs to be lubricated with oil and filled with a cement solution prepared in advance.

Lubricate the outside of a 2 liter bottle with oil and place it in the center of the bottle filled with cement. Please note that the larger the internal container, the thinner the walls of the pot will be, and the lighter the product will be.

After two days, the cement will harden and the plastic core and outer shell can be removed. In the end, all that remains is to decorate the outer surface using acrylic paints, varnish and decorations, if desired.

Wicker pots

For lovers of rustic interiors in ethno-style using environmentally friendly pure materials, you will like this method of creating a pot, because it requires wooden rods. It is not at all easy to build a completely wicker pot, but the result will undoubtedly please you.

But, if you can’t do this, then this method can be used to decorate flower pots with your own hands. Take a couple of dozen wooden rods of a certain length, twine, rough cloth, a cylindrical tin can and glue.

Measure the required length of the twig (just above the edge of the pot) and cut off the excess; do the same with the rest. Place the twigs under the ruler on the table surface and tie them with strong thread according to the principle of weaving a mat.

The outside of the jar is covered with burlap, dried and wrapped in the resulting wicker fabric, which is tied on top with twine.

Photos of DIY flower pots

I wanted an unusual design for flower pots. Otherwise, everything is the same as everyone else’s. The simplest thing is to make it from polymer clay. No sooner said than done!

Today we will make Humpty Dumpty. Remember Lewis Carroll's fairy tale "Alice Through the Looking Glass". He is the hero of this fairy tale, where he appears as a large humanoid egg with a tie. Appears on the sixth chess square in Through the Looking Glass. Alice finds him in the store of the Sheep that the White Queen has turned into.

So let's get started:

To work we need the following materials:

Canned fish can, polymer clay or cold porcelain three colors: white, chocolate and beige, wire, whole eggshell toothpick, black marker for discs, acrylic paints, “Crystal” polyurethane glue for gluing parts, waterproof varnish.

Manufacturing:

Let's take a canned fish can and wrap it in white clay. While the clay dries, let's do the finishing.

Roll out chocolate-colored polymer clay into a thick layer and cut into 7 squares, 1x1 cm in size, similarly cut into 7 beige squares.

Glue the squares to the side of the jar in the order shown in the photo. Nearby you can make an inscription: “Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall” (Humpty - Dumpty sat on the wall...), or you don’t have to do it. Whoever likes it.

We're done with the jar, let's leave it to dry for a day. Let's move on to making the scenery... Humpty Dumpty himself. To do this you need to release chicken egg, from its contents. Carefully pierce the egg with a toothpick on both sides: blunt and sharp. Where the bottom will be, you need to make a larger hole so that a straw for cocktails can pass through. Draw out the contents of the egg through a straw and rinse. If you don’t want to bother with the egg, you can take any other blank, for example from a Kinder Surprise, and cover it with clay so that you can draw.

Using a marker, draw eyes, a nose, a mouth, cheeks, a collar, and so on on the egg.

Important! You should definitely take a marker for discs; a regular one can float from contact with the varnish. If you don’t find one, then you can paint with paints using a toothpick.

We make a tie, a bow tie and a hat from white clay. After all, our Humpty Dumpty is an important person! When the clay dries a little, they will need to be decorated with acrylic paints.

From wire we will build a heart and an egg stand in the form of hands with legs for Humpty Dumpty. All prepared parts will be left to dry for a day.

The next day we glue all the parts into the appropriate places. To glue an egg to a jar, you must first glue a piece of clay to the place where our Humpty-Dumpty is planned. Press a small piece of straw coated with glue into soft clay, and glue a wire stand with legs and handles on top. Place our Humpty Dumpty on a straw. IN right hand attach the heart to the wire. From the remains of white clay, I also molded a bird and glued it to the other side of the jar. To ensure that all parts are strong, you need to cover them with several layers of waterproof varnish.

When the varnish is dry, you can fill the pot with soil and plant the plants. Sprinkle expanded clay on top. Since our jar is shallow, the plants should have a small root system. For example, a fat plant or a cactus. During the entire growth period, these plants have a small root system. That's it! Our pot is ready!

So easily and simply we got such an interesting composition. As I worked, I realized that decorating flower pots with my own hands is also a fun activity! Try it and see for yourself!

Any gardener knows that there are never too many flower pots. In this article we will tell you how to make a very simple decorative clay flower pot. To make such a flower pot you do not need virtually any skills. Even a beginner or a child can handle the project.

Materials and tools for making a flower pot:

  • clay that does not require firing
  • plastic container
  • rolling pin
  • stationery or construction knife
  • acrylic paint
  • paint brushes

How to make a clay flower pot with your own hands

Roll out the clay using a rolling pin. Place a plastic container on the resulting layer, cut the clay, moving the knife along the edge of the container. This will give you the base of the pot.

Mix the remaining clay and roll it out again into a long narrow strip. The strip should be long enough to wrap around the sides of the container.

Make the sides of the pot from a strip of clay. The edges of the strip can be overlapped or cut and joined at the ends.

After wetting your fingers with water, smooth out all seams.

Let the clay dry for 1-2 days. When the walls have hardened, the pot can be turned over to provide air access to the bottom of the pot.

When the bottom is dry, you can start painting the pot.

Mix the paint with water. Use a wide brush to paint the bottom half of the pot.

Note: It is not necessary for the paint to lay down in an even layer. A little carelessness allows you to achieve a good result - it immediately becomes clear that the pot was made by yourself.

If necessary, the paint can be applied in several layers.

Stir a drop of black acrylic paint with a few drops of water.

Dip a brush in black paint and then, running your fingers along the bristles, spray it onto the sides of the pot.

Advice: It is advisable to carry out this procedure outdoors, otherwise you risk splashing furniture and walls.

After the paint has dried, the surface of the pot can be varnished.

Attention: a pot made of unfired clay should not be exposed to moisture, so you need to place a plastic or metal container inside, and only then fill the pot with soil and plant the plants.
