Erespal official instructions for use for children. Erespal for children: instructions for use for children and specific purposes

Erespal is a modern drug used to treat coughs that occur as a result of various inflammatory processes and infections in the respiratory tract. Cough is one of the most unpleasant consequences of the flu. And although by its nature it is one of defense mechanisms, helping the body fight infection, this does not make it any easier. Often a cough is accompanied by spasm of the bronchi and obstruction of their patency (bronchoconstriction). Cough is especially dangerous for young children, for whom it causes great suffering.

Description

The main component of the drug is fenspiride hydrochloride. This substance has a triple effect on the body. First, it reduces inflammation. Secondly, it acts on histamine receptors and thereby blocks the production of mucus in the bronchi. Thirdly, it has an antispasmodic effect. Therefore, the use of Erespal contributes to the expansion of the bronchi.

The principle of action of the drug is fundamentally different from the principle of action of other antitussive drugs. They are divided into two large groups. Some of them affect the so-called dry cough, that is, a cough without the formation of sputum. Others help to liquefy this phlegm and remove it from the body.
Erespal does not belong to any of these groups. But this does not prevent him from being highly effective. The reason is that the drug fights not so much the consequences of inflammation as it suppresses the mechanism of its occurrence. In addition, fenspiride suppresses the cough reflex without affecting the corresponding center of the brain.

One of the advantages of the drug is that it can also be useful for viral respiratory infections (ARVI), for which antibiotics do not work. This is achieved due to the fact that it has a strong anti-inflammatory effect.

Most of the drug is excreted through the kidneys, and about one tenth through the intestines.

Indications for use:

  • laryngitis
  • pharyngitis
  • bronchial asthma
  • flu
  • sinusitis

A natural question arises: can Erespal serve as a replacement for treating the body with antibiotics? Of course no. Erespal is primarily an antitussive drug and cannot be the only method of treating infectious diseases.

Release forms and composition

The drug is available in two dosage forms: tablets with a dosage of 80 mg and Erespal for children in the form of syrup in 150 ml bottles. Each box of the drug contains detailed instructions, which should be read carefully.

Compound

Fenspiride hydrochloride is a rather bitter substance. Therefore, the syrup contains many sweeteners and flavorings so that children take the medicine with pleasure.

Composition of the tablet:

  • fenspiride
  • calcium phosphate disubstituted
  • hypromellose
  • povidone
  • colloidal anhydrous silicon
  • Magnesium stearate
  • titanium dioxide
  • glycerol
  • macrogol 6000

The syrup is sold in 150 ml bottles. 1 ml of syrup contains 2 mg of fenspiride.

Other substances included in the syrup:

  • honey flavor
  • licorice root extract
  • glucose
  • anise oil
  • vanillin extract
  • glycerol
  • Sunset Yellow S dye
  • methyl parahydroxybenzoate
  • propyl parahydroxybenzoate
  • saccharin
  • sucrose
  • potassium sorbate
  • distilled water

Erespal is produced by the French pharmaceutical company Laboratorium Servier. This is a proven and reliable supplier. However, as with many other imported medicines, the price of the drug may seem too high. In this case, you can look for analogues of the drug containing fenspiride. Such drugs include the drugs Fenspiride, Erispirus, Codestim, Fosidal and some others. However, when choosing an effective medicine You should focus not only on prices, since drugs of lower cost may be inferior in quality. Other antitussive drugs can hardly replace Erespal, since they do not have an antihistamine and antispasmodic effect.

The drug is sold in pharmacies with a prescription. Erespal is stored at room temperature. The shelf life of tablets is 3 years, syrup - 2 years.

Erespal, instructions for use

Before taking Erespal, you should read the instructions for use that come with the drug. The drug is very well absorbed by the body when taken orally and begins to act after just a few hours. For tablets, the therapeutic effect begins to appear after 2-3 hours, for syrup – after an hour. The maximum effect of the medicine reaches after 6 hours. In case of overdose, consult a doctor.

Instructions for use of tablets for adults

According to the instructions, you need to take two 80 mg tablets per day. In severe cases of the disease, the doctor may increase the frequency of administration to 3 times a day. The duration of treatment is also determined by the doctor. In most cases, improvement occurs within 2-3 days. According to Erespal's instructions, the drug is usually taken before meals.

Erespal tablets are intended for adults only. Children under 14 years of age are prohibited from taking them. To treat children, it is better to use Erespal in syrup form, while following the instructions.

Instructions for use of syrup for children

The dosage of syrup for children depends on the child’s body weight. It must be selected so that the daily dose does not exceed 4 mg/kg of body weight. Typically, for children weighing less than 10 kg, syrup is prescribed at 2-4 teaspoons per day, and for children heavier than 10 kg - 2-4 tablespoons. Erespal syrup can be taken by children from 2 years of age. A child under 2 years of age should not be given the drug in any form. Adults should take Erespal syrup 2-3 tablespoons (45-90 ml) per day.

Contraindications

The drug has very few contraindications. First of all, it is not recommended to give the drug to children under 2 years of age. Secondly, this is individual intolerance to the active substance and auxiliary components included in the drug. Since the syrup contains sucrose, it is contraindicated for patients diabetes mellitus. Such patients should take tablets.

Interaction with other drugs

If you are taking other cough suppressants at the same time, you should consult your doctor. It is not recommended to take Erespal with sedatives and alcohol, since the drug, as an antihistamine, has its own sedative effect, which will enhance the sedative effect of other drugs.

Also, in the case of simultaneous use of Erespal, alcohol and other sedatives, one should be wary of a deterioration in the reaction rate. This should be taken into account by those who drive vehicles.

Side effects

Rarely may be observed:

  • allergic reactions, nausea, drowsiness and lethargy
  • moderate tachycardia
  • gastrointestinal disorders
  • epigastric pain
  • drowsiness
  • erythema
  • hives
  • angioedema

pharmachologic effect

According to the instructions for use of Erespal, the active ingredient of the drug - fenspiride - has a pronounced anti-inflammatory and anti-bronchoconstrictor effect, due to a decrease in the production of the main biologically active substances that play a key role in the development of the inflammatory reaction and bronchospasm: cytokines, free radicals, arachidonic acid metabolites.

Inhibits the metabolism of arachidonic acid, while simultaneously blocking histamine H1 receptors, since it is histamine that stimulates the chemical reactions of converting arachidonic acid into final metabolites-inflammatory factors. Reduces the production of other inflammatory mediators - serotonin and bradykinin.

Blocks α-adrenergic receptors, the activation of which increases the secretion of the bronchial glands. The complex effect of fenspiride reduces the pathological influence of a number of factors that promote hypersecretion of anti-inflammatory substances and cause obstruction of the bronchial tree. It has a pronounced antispasmodic and myotropic effect.

Pharmacokinetics

The drug is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. Erespal's instructions indicate that after oral administration of 1 tablet, the maximum concentration of fenspiride in the blood is detected after 6 hours; the use of syrup determines the effective concentration after 2.5 hours. The half-life (T 1/2) is 12 hours, excreted mainly through the urinary system. system (up to 90%), a small part is excreted by the intestines (about 10%).

Erespal syrup and tablets - description of the drug

The drug is available in two varieties: syrup and tablets.

  1. Erespal 80 mg tablets- round, smooth, with convexities on the sides, in a film shell. They are packaged in blisters, 15 washers each. The packaging of the drug includes two blisters (30 tablets) and a detailed summary of the drug, describing its properties and recommended use.
  2. Erespal syrup- This is a child form of the drug, it is produced in dark glass bottles with a volume of 150 ml. The medicine has a pleasant orange color, viscous consistency, smell and taste of honey. 1 ml of syrup contains 2 mg of the active substance fenspiride and a number of auxiliary components (extracts of rose, orange, vanilla, rum, honey). The bottles are additionally packaged in cardboard boxes, each of which has an insert with instructions.

The active component of the drug is fenspiride hydrochloride. In addition to this substance, which has a direct therapeutic effect, the drug contains auxiliary components that promote faster absorption of the medication and, accordingly, a faster therapeutic effect.

Operating principle and properties

Erespal is a drug that provides pronounced anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic and antihistamine effects. Its use significantly reduces the formation of exudate, that is, the accumulation of fluid in the tissues, causing the formation of edema. The drug also effectively removes inflammation, preventing inflammation from spreading, and exhibits a number of myotropic and antispasmodic properties.

The strong anti-inflammatory effect of the drug is due to the fact that fenspiride significantly inhibits processes associated with the metabolism of arachnidic acid, reduces the activity of serotonins, bradykinins and histamines, and also partially blocks a number of histamine receptors.

The active substance reduces the production of cytokines and free radicals, which are directly involved in the development of bronchospasm and the inflammatory process. In addition, fenspiride has an antispasmodic effect and blocks the activity of alpha-adrenergic receptors, which contribute to the formation of bronchial secretions and increase the risk of bronchial obstruction.

The medicine reaches the site of inflammation after absorption in the stomach. The highest content and maximum activity of Erespal occurs 6 hours after taking the tablets. Erespal syrup acts much faster, the peak of its activity is observed within 2.5-3 hours after administration. The drug is excreted from the body mainly by the kidneys, along with urine (90%), the remaining 10% is removed through the intestines.

Indications

Indications for the use of Erespal are chronic and acute forms of the following diseases:

  • bronchitis, rhinotracheobronchitis;
  • rhinitis (including allergic);
  • nasopharyngitis;
  • otitis;
  • sinusitis;
  • infectious diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by a debilitating cough;
  • characteristic symptoms of whooping cough, measles, influenza (hoarseness, sore throat, cough);
  • respiratory tract infections (in combination with antibacterial agents).

The attending physician may prescribe Erespal as part of complex therapy for complicated bronchial asthma and various respiratory diseases accompanied by cough and other respiratory phenomena. Indications for the use of Erespal syrup are exactly the same as for tablets. The doctor determines which form of the drug to give preference in a particular case.

When treating with Erispal, the following rules should be observed:

  • The drug should be taken strictly before meals, no less than 30-20 minutes;
  • treatment cannot be combined with taking anti-inflammatory non-steroidal drugs (NSAIDs) and drugs based on acetylsalicylic acid, since this combination increases the risk of developing bronchospasm;
  • you cannot be treated with sedatives and Erespal at the same time, as this leads to severe drowsiness, lethargy and weakness;
  • Erespal should not be combined with alcohol, including alcohol-based medications;
  • When treating diseases caused by infectious pathogens, you should simultaneously undergo a course of antibacterial therapy, which will be prescribed by the attending physician.

When using syrup, which many adult patients prefer to treat, due to its high activity and faster effect, you need to remember that each tablespoon contains 30 mg of fenspiride (the active element of the drug) and 9-11 g of sucrose, and each teaspoon contains 10 mg of hydrochloride fenspiride and 3-4 g of sucrose.

Persons suffering from or prone to this disease should not be treated with syrup. For this category of patients, it is safer to use Erespal tablets for coughs associated with problems with the respiratory system.

Many patients are interested in whether Erespal is an antibiotic?

In fact, it is a remedy that effectively suppresses the inflammatory process, but cannot replace antibacterial therapy. Therefore, if necessary, the drug is prescribed together with antibiotics.

Since Erespal can have a sedative effect associated with blocking histamine receptors, it is not recommended to be prescribed simultaneously with sedatives and tranquilizers.

Analogs

Erespal has only one structural analogue - Fenspiride. But there are quite a lot of medications similar in therapeutic effect to Erespal (that is, reducing swelling in inflamed tissues, treating coughs and expanding the bronchial lumen). The closest analogues of the drug:

  • Eladon;
  • Thespalen;
  • Inspiron:
  • Ambrobene;
  • Lazolvan.

However, despite the similarities and general indications for use, each of the drugs has its own characteristics. Therefore, you should not change the drug without the approval of your doctor.
