Let's make an LED flashlight together with our own hands. DIY LED flashlights How to make an LED flashlight

LED pocket flashlights are in great demand among potential consumers. Diode designs have gained particular popularity. They have bright light and have minimal energy consumption. You can purchase this device in specialized stores or make it yourself at home.

Our article presents detailed instructions for a do-it-yourself flashlight. All the subtleties of the workflow are displayed here. Advice from experienced professionals will help you cope with the task.

Advantages of LED flashlights

LED lamps are the most economical source of light radiation. They provide an uninterrupted flow of bright radiation at the lowest power. In addition, it has a number of technical advantages in relation to other lamps. These include:

  • efficiency;
  • safety;
  • reliability;
  • a variety of simple types and ideas for homemade lanterns;
  • long-term operation.

Since the finished installation consumes a minimal amount of power, many microcircuits have been developed for this purpose, in which the main power source is one alkaline battery.

As for color scheme, then there are several shades of diodes on sale: green, blue, red, yellow, pink. For a cool shade, you need to choose white light bulbs. They have a wide lighting angle.

Where are diode lamps used?

The portable design of the flashlight with LED illumination has a wide range of applications. It is used where there is no access to a lighting fixture. It can be used in the garage, cellar or when working in the garden.

The device can operate for up to 6 days without replacing the battery. Some models are equipped with a replaceable battery pack that can be continuously charged from electrical network. For this purpose, the package includes a special socket with clamps.

In the process of making a homemade flashlight, you can make an additional mount. As a result, the device is attached to any surface while freeing your hands.

Before you begin the work process, you need to choose the right diagram that will show you how to make a flashlight with your own hands. Technical images indicate detailed requirements for electrical parts.

Master class on assembling a flashlight with a bright diode

How to make a flashlight with your own hands? The assembly process is quite simple, but interesting. To manufacture this design, you need to purchase a DFL-OSPW511P LED. These lamps have a powerful lighting component that produces powerful illumination within 1m.

For this you will need:

  • two power supplies. To do this, it is enough to purchase two coin-shaped batteries;
  • food department. This will reduce energy loss during operation;
  • bright diodes 5 pcs.;
  • button to turn the device on and off;
  • hot melt adhesive. It will ensure tight fixation of the microcircuit in the housing of the structure;
  • soldering iron;
  • resin for soldering parts.

When all the components are prepared, we move on to the work process. It includes the following items:

On the old motherboard We fix the battery compartment using a soldering tool. We solder the wires from the power button to the positive pole of the power department. The other end is to one of the diode legs.

We fix the second section of the diode leg to the minus of the battery section. The result is a simple electrical circuit. When you press the button, all sections will close, which will ensure the desired glow of the device.

When all the elements are in place, you can place the circuit in the device body.

Upon completion of assembly, install the battery and turn on the finished structure to check its functionality. It is necessary to insert batteries in compliance with their polarity. Incorrect installation will lead to premature failure lighting device. The photo of a homemade flashlight shows the finished model.

Do you want to make a powerful and cute LED flashlight with your own hands? Then this project is for you!
Watch the video that explains all the features of this project, and also follow the steps to the end of the article for the “how to do it” part. For a deeper understanding of the project, I recommend that you watch both the video and the text-graphic part of the instructions.

Step 1: Body and Parts

To create a portable LED flashlight, you will need:

  • Case: here you can use all your imagination. The body can be of various shapes. And of course, you can make a housing for your homemade handheld heavy-duty flashlight by simply copying my version. I used an aluminum tube and a central aluminum core for heat dissipation. It's important that the LED chip stays cool, which is why I mounted it on such a large piece of metal. So feel free to use my ideas for making the case, they are discussed in detail in the video. The front and back covers, as well as the handle, are 3D printed from ABS. I will not include files for 3D printing as they were prepared for a tube of my diameter and you can easily make 3D models of the plugs for your tubes yourself.
  • Chip for 100W LED, reflector, lens.
  • 100W LED driver - look for a boost driver direct current for LEDs (“step up constant voltage led driver” for searching on foreign sites).
  • Lithium polymer battery (I used 4S 3300mAh).
  • Small electronics (switch, potentiometer, resistors).

Step 2: LED Installation

  1. Install the LED onto the heatsink using thermal paste and screws.
  2. Glue the reflector and lens using epoxy.
  3. Solder the wires connecting it to the driver onto the LED.

Tip: If your radiator is not large enough, you can use active cooling in the form of a fan. Connect the fan directly to the power supply after the switch.

Step 3: LED Driver

Select a DC-DC boost driver that can handle at least 100W of current. If you want to change the brightness of a long-range flashlight, then use the attached diagram to modify it. After the upgrade, set the maximum voltage on the trim resistor. The maximum voltage should be the same as specified by the LED chip manufacturer. Also check the current voltage of the chip - at maximum it can produce more than 100W. If so, set the maximum current a little lower so you don't exceed 100W with the trimmer fully open and the battery fully charged.
You can also select a DC driver and configure it.

Step 4: Fit and connect

Insert the driver into the handset (or into your own housing). Leave room for the battery
Install the trimpot potentiometer. Install a switch on the housing and connect it in series with the positive wire of the battery.

IN fairy tales we often read about a path through a dark forest to a small source of light that suddenly appeared between the trees, or about a hall decorated with colorful lights, or about a mysterious kind person, who lights the lanterns in the evenings... Maybe this is where our love for homemade flashlights - to those who have a living light inside or to those who remind us of this light?

Today we will talk about lanterns, which, if desired, you can make yourself or with the participation of children - for a room, for a garden, for a Christmas tree or a corner of dreams. Such magic lanterns can easily turn an ordinary evening into a fairy tale.

What materials can you make your own lanterns from? We have collected a lot of ideas for inspiration - here is a paper lantern, very simple, but a garden lantern - probably full of stars... Here is an ice lantern, here is an orange one, and here is a lantern made from what is at hand - for example, from clothespins...

However, first things first...

Paper lanterns - simple and intricate

The simplest - and the most fun

Any child can make colorful paper lanterns with their own hands. Look at the samples: the main thing is that there is a desire to decorate it and glue light paper ribbons - let them sway at the slightest breath. Like fire!
