On June 18 (July 1), Orthodox Christians venerate the Bogolyubsk Icon of the Mother of God, which is one of the oldest miraculous icons of Russian origin. The icon was painted in the 12th century at the request of Andrei Bogolyubsky, one of the first collectors of the Russian land, after the appearance of the Mother of God to him.The Mother of God appeared during the prince's trip to Vladimir with an icon (later called the Vladimir icon).
